Win a daily pass to PGA Championship

CLOSED: 13 Nov 2011

In yet another coup for the Australian summer of golf, Asia’s first Major winner Y E Yang is a confirmed starter when the 2011 Australian PGA Championship tees off in Coolum from November 24-27.

Yang, a two-time OneAsia winner who famously claimed the 2009 US PGA Championship over Tiger Woods, confirmed he will also ‘turn up the heat’ at spectacular Hyatt Regency Coolum on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast alongside some of the biggest names in world golf.

He joins Greg Norman, Jason Day, Bubba Watson, Geoff Ogilvy, Darren Clarke, Adam Scott, Robert Allenby, Aaron Baddeley, Peter Senior and John Senden in the stellar lineup at Coolum.

“This year’s Championship coincides with the Centenary of the PGA and we are so pleased that all of our players want to be a part of such a huge year,” said PGA CEO Brian Thorburn.

iseekgolf.com members have a chance to win one of six available day passes to the event.

World No. 7, Jason Day will play the PGA Championship for the very first time since he turned professional in 2006. “I’m really excited about coming back to Queensland and playing the PGA Championship at Coolum,” said Day, who is Australia’s highest world ranked player. “This year will be big. It’s going to be a great field and I’m looking forward to playing well in front of my friends and family and all the young golf fans.”

At the other end of the PGA Championship success spectrum, four time winner Robert Allenby says he wouldn’t miss the opportunity to make it five during such a huge year. “This year’s PGA field is going to be great and everyone’s looking forward to getting back to Coolum. Five PGA’s would definitely be a nice achievement and to do so in such a big year for Australian golf would make it even sweeter.”

Big-hitting International player, Bubba Watson is also confirmed to play the PGA Championship in November. Watson, who has become a regular fixture in the world’s top 15, will play Coolum for the first time since 2005. “I’ve played up in Queensland once before and it was a great atmosphere. My game has come a long way since then so hopefully I can get back there and finish the year off well,” said Watson.

Heading to Coolum for only the second time since the tournament moved to the Sunshine Coast, Aaron Baddeley’s presence is another good sign for Australia’s oldest professional tournament. Baddeley last played the PGA Championship back in 2002 where he finished sixth, but is certain to delight fans as he tries to play himself back inside the world top 50.

Geoff Ogilvy will also return to Coolum with a point to prove after finishing second to Peter Senior in a playoff in last year’s rain delayed PGA Championship finale. Ogilvy, the 2009 PGA Champion, handed the title to Senior on the second playoff hole during last year’s Monday finish, but is determined to add his name to the Joe Kirkwood Cup for the second time in 2011.

“We couldn’t be happier with the line up for this year’s PGA Championship,” said PGA CEO Brian Thorburn.
