Played Carbrook for the first time today. Nice course, friendly locals. I was a bit dissapointd with the 9th as I think the green is being fixed/replaced and the temporary one is the worst choice I could imagine. 10 and 11 feel like a different course (definitely not a better one) but all in all great value and a good arvo out, I’ll certainly play there again.

What a horrible day. course was in rubbish condition- fairways were as hard as nails. greens were the same, if you hit the green on the full there was a great chance it would race well past the hole. pretty good value at iseek except i’d rather pay 50 bucs at a quality course. riverlakes is right down the road and is far more scenic and better maintained. not worth a cent!

played 3/1/12 with a great deal from iseek.
the course as always was in decent shape although the fairways were quite long and some of the greens were quite lush as well. always pretty well watered here and quite enjoy playing here. some slow groups were quickly dealt with by the marshall and a busy afternoon still only took 4 and a half hours with a large group.

PROS

  • cheap

Cons

  • long fairways

Our group enjoyed the course and the game. The course was in good condition and facilities adaquate. Some very challenging holes, wind plays a big part on several holes as well. 8.5 out 10.

Recently played the course (about 4 weeks ago) and the greens had not long been cored & sanded. The greens have really come on since with the course now in great condition.

The clubhouse was closed when we finished around 10.00 am, so couldn’t spend more money at the club.

Overall great value for money. Haven’t spotted the sharks yet!

Carbrook certainly has matured well over recent years and is now a good test of golf for those looking forward to a course that will make you think.
Certainly a variety of golf holes from the reasonably straight forward to the very challenging and the downright exciting like risk and rewards 10th hole.
Fairways are of a generous size and well maintained but my errant shots were usually was punished in the rough, treelines or wasteland areas.
The greens were fast and true and the monster shared green, first and the eight share this green, is a very interesting and unique feature.
In all a good golfing experience.

I was very impressed with my 1st time at Carbrook. You get value for your shots with nice wide fairways but there is still a bit of challenge there. Course was in very good condition and nice and flat so walking around there is an easy option to take. Will definately be back

played here 19/12/2011 with a friend and we thought that carbrook is exellent value, for 25 $ each with cart- bargain. 80% of the greens where well paced and kept. The fairways and tees were imaculate and could not fault. Carbrook is forgiving provided you can keep it in the fairway or the first cut, have a go at the 10th excellent hole

13. vinamitre | Rated | 14 Dec 2011 | Add A Review

Played Carbrook for the first time yesterday, even after a considerable amount of rain over the last week the course was in very good condition with no noticeable water lying on the course proper. Off the fairways was a different story with all the gullies and creeks swollen with water so any stray shots were gone for good. There were several holes under repair so a couple of very short par 3’s and a temporary green on the ninth but other than that the layout rewarded you for shot placement and the greens fairly consistent with good pace. Our midway point of the round was at approx 1pm and dissapointingly there was very little in the way food on offer in the clubhouse. We did however enjoy a couple of beers on the deck overlooking the lake after the round which was great way to end the day.
Overall at $25 per head including cart it was fantastic value.

Course was in fantastic condition and thoroughly enjoyed my game after snaking in a 25m putt from off the green on the 10th as much as my father didnt like it haha. Only downside was the 9th’s temp green as it is tiny and slopes away to the right quite agressively. Fantastic day!

As usual Carbrook in great condition, lovely and green, putting surfaces in great shape, very friendly staff, best value around in my opinion, the course is very fair, the 9th green is being rebuilt so its on a temp green but its in the best interests of all, as it was too slopey and small.

great course with come interesting holes. The greens had been cored less than two weeks and apart from a little sand on them they were still in great shape. Love the fairways because they had plenty of grass on them allowing you to hit your fairway woods and not damage them. Will definitely go back soon.

I played Carbrook on Friday 4 November. The guy in the proshop was friendly and offered directions to the first tee. I found the course to be in very good condition, tee’s were nice and even, fairways were lush enough and very recently mowed, bunkers had a nice layer of soft sand and the greens were consistent(ly fast!). The 9th green was out of action due to maintenance as was the regular 10th tee but hey that’s golf. The stand-in 10th tee was placed in a spot that pretty much enticed the golfer to go for the green in 1 which was fun. All in all it was ridiculously good for $20. I’ll be back for sure.

I liked this course very much. Greens were quick & true (felt like 10 on the stimpmeter) though the course itself isn’t very demanding. You generally deal with some elevation to the greens and a few gentle doglegs. At $25pp with carts froom iseek, I thought it was a pretty good deal. Good for the mid to high handicappers.

Played Carbrook yesterday. First time I have played there and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. It is not an overly long course but it certainly is challenging with plenty of Risk and Reward. We played the White Tees and I can see that the course would be totally different off the Blues. Hole 10 is a perfect example where, off the Whites the not too longer hitters could go across the water at the Green whereas off the Blues you can’t even see the Green. I was totally impressed with the Greens. Hard, quick but not fast and true. All in All I would recommend Carbrook to all players.

havent been to carbrook for a while but as usual the course was in prettty good nick despite some earlier rain in the week. the deals on iseek for this venue are amazing with regular $25 rounds including carts. for that price you wouldnt expect much but this course is definitely one of the better courses around at this price!

the only downside is the lack of a marshall or drinks cart but thats about it..

Course was great and for 25 dollars with a cart you can’t complain, But no course marshalls and at tee off two very amateur groups of two were aloud to hit off then a group of three which made it a long day, and then on the back 9 people did not wish to wait in line and decided to push in and skip ahead a couple of holes which made waiting more annoying for our group. Course was good apart from overnight rain.

Very nice course, great value at $25 inc buggy, was round in 3 1/2hrs which is decent. Greens were lightening quick and very true, I found them almost too quick though others might like that.

Good variety of holes. Small amount of distruption around the 10th and 11th with the mining lorries and noise but by all account the money they pay to the club has enabled it to keep the course in such good nick.

Played the course yesterday for the first time. It was basically OK and reasonable value.

The greens are quick and have more slopes than is first apparent. The layout, apart from a couple of holes, makes you think that you should score low – but when you get to the greens two putting becomes a challenge.

Welcome in the pro shop was good and the cart was brand new.

Nice wide fairways making this course ideal for the mid to high handicapper. Took a non-golfing friend to play and eventually he got his first par so everybody had a good time! Would recommend getting a cart as the course is fairly long and taking a few balls for those intimidated by water. All in all a good day.

Firstly iseekgolf is a fantastic way to book my social golf. I selected Carbrook due to its location as well as the price, I think that the course is great value for money. Carbrook’s course was in great shape, from the fairways (nice layer pf grass) as well as the greens which have held up very well with all of the wet weather we have had recently (they had great pace, with a true roll).

44. magicharri | Rated | 04 Jun 2011 | Add A Review

Enjoyed playing carbrook once again. Probably play there 3 times a year with social groups and so forth. Greens were exceptionally fast even considering considerable rain a few days previously. Perhaps a bit of frost got in to them but they were true so no real complaints. Fairways were cut up in some parts and course should really consider upgrading cart paths on many holes including holes 4 and 5. Staff friendly, good course, always a good game.

Played on Wednesday the 11th May, tee off at 1.05pm (the first iseekgolf slot for the day).

This was a terrible decision, got stuck behind members that were slower than slow, played the 18th in darkness, was painful to wait so long.

Good course, little wet underfoot and probably shouldnt have had carts on. layout is challenging though many blue tee’s are brought forward a lot, which makes the ’long’ holes not very long at all. greens are like lightning to put on, though ball stuck with a full swing wedge.

if I played this at my own speed not stuck behind a comp, 8/10 (10/10 for value)

Had a game teeing off at about 2pm April 11th with a terrible experience after all. The course was not well maintained with some area left unmowed and muddy cart driveways around couple construction sites on the course. The worst part was that there were hundreds of mosquitoes, which kept flying around and stinging us during the whole game, making us have to stroke them frequently instead of the golf balls. Don’t want to come back again until it’s largely improved!

Played here Friday the 1st and had a vey enjoyable round. I would suggest bringing mozzie replant – I left mine at home and was eaten alive. My only issue was that as I was 1st off the sprinklers were running on the greens for the first 5 or 6 holes. I thought it was an April fool trick as they kicked in when I was looking to hit to the green. When I asked a guy in a cart he told me it wasn’t his job. I called the pro-shop and was advised they were on computers. I had to wait for 5 minutes on every fairway for the sprinklers on the green to run their program before I could play my shot to them. I understand that the sprinklers have to go on – but don’t have tee times that early if you can’t change the sprinkler times

Course was in good nick. Greens nice and testing. I would definitely play here again. I have played Redland bay, riverlakes and Carbrook. Carbrook is definitely my pick of the three

Played at Carbrook Friday week ago. Have played here a number of times and the course is in great condition each time we have played there. Greens were a fair bit slower than they used to be…but for a 22 handicapper this is not a bad thing. There was only 1 staff member looking after everything and no hot food after the round…bit dissapointing as the meals are usually good. Still the beer was cold and the golf was great.

I’ve played here a few times now and have to consider it as one of the best value tracks in the region. The course was in great condition after the poor weather recently, bar a few tyre marks, but in particular the greens were near perfect. A wayward tee-shot may cost you, given the proximity of water to many of the fairways, but overall a fair and interesting course.

Considering the weather conditions it was not too bad. Just off the fairway you would lose your ball owing to the grass being so long. Other than that it is a nice course.

Lovely country course except for the mozzies which were so thick on a few holes. Despite recent rain, the greens were still hard and fast. 4 of us had a lovely day but were disappointed that we did not spot the bullshark! We’ll definitely be returning in the drier weather.

69. spear | Rated | 06 Jan 2011 | Add A Review

good layout however with all the rain they have had it was playing very hard. The rough was thicker than a jungle in Africa and if you strayed off the faiway you were lucky to find your balls. On most holes it was hard to identify the faiway as it was full of weeds and almost as long as the rough .Fortunately we played with an ex member who showed us around otherwise we would had a difficult time navigating our way around the course .Will come back again but not until the course has had some dry weather and been mowed ,no run on the fairways due to the lenght of the grass whichmade it even longer

70. Slu | Rated | 05 Jan 2011 | Add A Review

Played the course for the first time. Course was very wet, due to the recent rain, and the 30 minute downpour was well timed as we finished the 9th hole. The greens are super fast (even in the wet), the rough can be punishing (due to the wet grass and being unable to mow it), and I recommend taking insect repellent, because the mozzies are killers. I look forward to playing this course once the weather dries up.

Played Carbrook yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. The fairways were lush, but the greens were hard and fast. However they were receptive to well struck approach shots.

Most holes have subtle doglegs, so that the green was not visible from the tee box, but did not require the tee shot to be shaped too much!

The tees were quite forward, which unfortunately made the course quite short. I imagine it would be quite a test from the back tees.

Would definitely play it again, and the deal through iseekgolf was extemely good value.

The course is great. The fairways are in good condition and a good
width for both high and low handicappers. The hazzards are nicely
positioned and so are the bunkers, this means that you just have to
play the course and you will get a good result. However the greens
were hard to play as that day they mowed it too much leaving no greens
at all.It made putting difficult as it was so fast which turned my birdie and par shots to bogeys. Overall I give it an 8/10

80. fradapres | Rated | 01 Sep 2010 | Add A Review

Incredable value for money. Not a long course and the par fives are mostly reachable in 2….if you get a drive away and not into the water. Every hole presents it’s own challenge and local knowledge is a distinct advantage. Greens were tricky to read but to be fair read fairly true.Staff were delightful. I am a member of Virginia and mostly struggle to play to my 14 HC regardless of tee positions however even with 4 doubles still managed a net 69 even though the tees were mostly forward. Living locally i did think about joining however not sure the $1,000 price tag is appropriate.
All said and done i had a great day and will definately return

Played there for first time today (05/03/2010). With 200mm rain in the last week it was wet underfoot and showers around as well. Hats off to the groundstaff who have done a great job to have it open for a days play.

Interesting layout. Good amount of water. Green and fairways were nice. Rough was a bit rough but understandably they haven’t had a chance to mow lately… There was one 450m par 4 that I’d certainly be boasting about if I par’d….

Teed off at 9:30am on a Friday and we got lonely out there as there were no other players in sight which made for a nice leisurely round.

Staff were nice and helpful. Was happy to pay the full price of $28. Gold stubbies $3.70 each- not bad!

Played there on the 8th March, for pennants. The course was in very good nick, despite having to play on freshly cored greens. But every course has to do it sometime! I have no cons on the course! I can’t say anything was wrong because it helped me win my matchplay. So big reps for Carbrook, the fairways were much better than last time I played there!!
8.5/10

Played here Tuesday 6th Jan 2009, was a very pleasant course. Nice relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff. Playing during a week day the course was by no means busy which allowed for a nice paced game and time to look for the odd stray ball that was hit.

Overall it was a challenging round but would be happy to play again

Carbrook what can i say, i played there last week for the first time in 5 years & sadly nothing has changed, the course is still very poorly maintained, the club house remains run down, with weed all over the terrace, cobwebs around the building & the carpark lanscaping is a terrible advertisement for their front door.

I cannot understand the 4 star rating, this course has to be one of the most overrated in the Bris area.

Have played carbrook several times now, and find it quite good. The staff in the pro shop and bar are super friendly, and the members i’ve played with each time have been top lads too. The front is good, although i don’t like that two holes share one large green, bt this is probably because my eyesight is not the best :) I love the back nine, and for some reason score better on it than the front everytime, which is odd given that it is way harder. Played it once with the wind howling, and loved every frustrating minute of it!

Played carbrook yesterday. Very reasonable track. Fairways were quite good, greens also. didn’t really like that the first and the eight pins are on the same green. Quite challenging, especially the back nine with the wind up. only negative i could say is that the bunkers are awful. Pro shop staff were super helpful and friendly, and the members i played with were great. playing again next week!

Being a member of Carbrook I could be considered as biased, however for any golfer wishing to play a course that has continued to improve to now being the most enjoyable course in S.E. Qld. Give Carbrook a go.

The layout is superb with fairways and greens both running true. Each hole creates its own challenge with water hazards being in play on most holes. The last wednesday of the month hosts the Shark Challenge where the course is set-up to the championship level, break your handicap and be rewarded with a Shark Challenge golf shirt.

Carbrook can be a very challenging course if you’re off your game,But when you’re playing on a course like this one, that is in such good condition most of the time, it is still very enjoyable.Value for money is second to none.If you are a keen golfer and come away from this course dissapointed then there is something wrong.

This course has some excellent holes to challenge any level of golfer. The Shark Lake challenge which is held on the last Wednesday of the month sounds like a true test of Carbrook. Pro pins and back markers will rattle plenty who are trying for the free shirt should you break your handicap.

The golf course was in great nick and the service was first rate. Had a homely feel with a chef cooking breakfasts and VERY friendly members.

I will be joining here very soon. Even that was layed out to be simple...

Well done Carbrook for remembering how golf was mean't to be enjoyed...

Carbrook is an excellent course. Its in great condition. A very challenging course for a mid to high handicaper. The fairways are lush and green and the greens are great. The wind makes this course even more challenging. The course staff are friendly and helpful.

I played at Carbrook earlier this week and was blown away by the condition of the course.

I have heard that the fairways get dry, but the whole course looked a picture.

The greens were firm and true and the green surrounds were like a bowling green.

It is a very testing game of golf, especially when the wind blows as it did when i was there!!

Good holes were 2,10,12,13 and 15.

$23 for 18 holes on a weekday is great value.

Played here the other day and was an absolute pleasure. the coure is in excellent condition and is a beautiful green colour. hard course but very enjoying. i play off sixteen and shot 21 over par so it is a bit harder than other courses.

It was a big step coming from a 4000m par 64 home course to this 6000m+ monster, but it was an absolute pleasure.

Each hole presented a different challenge, and local knowledge is a definate asset.

A must play for every lover of the game.

Probably one of the better courses around Brisbane, wiil benefit in a few more years once everythings fully grown and the greens have settled down, a course which the members and greens staff work very very hard to have in top nic all the time alot of other courses could learn alot of Carbrook.

Staff at golf course very friendly and only to happy to help, one of the better valued courses.

Great layout right from the 1st where precision is the key, like I say in alot of my reviews of the tee is the key drive well score well, some holes you can spray but it pays to keep on the short stuff.

Course 8/10

There is an added challenge to Carbrook once the wind gets up. Being located on the Logan River and not far from the sea means that the wind can blow quite strongly from the east. This usually means that it either blows you into the hazards on most holes or your driving into it on most of the longer holes. The good thing is on those steamy hot humid days you also usually have a breeze to cool down with. Again Carbrook good value for money.

Carbrook is on of those courses which offers friendly service, has a good membership and has some of the better practice facilities available to most clubs. With it's two driving ranges, putting and chipping greens and bunker practice area Carbrook offers plenty to those honing their game.

The course itself is a mixture of wetlands and links style course and is mainly well grassed no matter how dry the conditions.

The front 9 is a wetlands style layout and the back nine is links. The open fairways on the course may look inviting but once one is of the mown area and into the rough getting that second shot away can be a little bit harder to do. This is especially true in those early morning games when the grass is wet with dew. The longer grass can easily grab the head of the club leading to an errant second shot. A mixture of OB and water can lead to dropping a few shots. The 12th is long par 4 that requires a good carry over a water hazard to set one self up for an approach to the green. The 13th is a long dogleg par 4 which has OB on the all along the right hand side and requres a good tee shot to have an approach to the green. The greens are fast but true and although are reasonably flat, the par 3s seem to be up turned bowl affairs that require a steady approach to grab a par. Carbrook offers a challenge without being punishing. Well worth a look.
