Played a round here at sun-up on the weekend. Look quite simply, the course does what it says on the tin. $10, all the golf you can play. Would you really expect to see lawn bowl-esque greens and lush fairways? Nope, this is a goat track, no denying it, no doubt about it.
However, it shouldn’t therefore be slated for trying to be something it’s not. It’s largely run by volunteers and members giving up their time for the love of it. And some of the greens were actually quite servicable (the 18th the pick of the bunch). And I’m led to believe the course has been under attack by some hardcore weevils too.
The layout is fairly stock standard, straight up and down, with maybe the 8th an exception to the rule. Short par 4s are easy pickings for the long hitters, but the long par 3’s can take those shots back.
All in all, it’s a great beginner’s course as others have pointed out. Friendly folk who aren’t pretentious.
Just make sure you take a good towel and brush to wipe your clubs down with. They are going to get dirty…
PROS
- Price
- Attitude of members
Cons
- Pretty much every park in regards to the condition of the course. Copping a beating with the drought.

Good course for the beginner? Yes. Drought effected? Yes. Cheap? $10 for 18 holes so yes. Friendly atmosphere? Absolutley.
This is my home course so I play and practice there quite frequently. The course is quite drought effected but (fairways especially), the committee and members are working hard to repair greens and fairways. I feel that spring early summer 08 will be a good time to come out of melbourne for a cheap round. I would recommend it to beginners especially a good course, where it is hard to lose balls but there are still some challenges.
PROS
- Cheap, friendly and improving
Cons
- poor fairways

This course is great if you are starting out in golf. Nice open fairways pretty straight the whole way through. I definately would recommend this course for a bit of fun.

The west is south of the town nestled up against a gradual hill. The course has too many holes that look the same and an over abundance of long par 3s and short par 4s. There are 5 par 4s less than 305m and 3 of the par 3s are more than 185m long. The best hole is the longest the 499m par 5 8th. It starts of flat then turns left up the hill to the green. Overall a good place to go for a quiet game but needs more variety in the holes. Not many bunkers exist on the course.

Played here last week, after avoiding it for nearly a year due to bad reviews. Can i just say i was very surprised, the quality of the t’s and most of the fairways was fantastic – for a $10 course, definitely no goat track here. Unfortunately the greens stole too many shots from me, super bumpy and quite slow. Once making it to the green for a birdy putt, i ended up 2 or 3 over :( I would recommend playing here if you need to brush up on your game, maybe fix that slice etc. No great challenge, but not a horrific course either.
