This is a good Members’ Course. A parkland course with good greens and fairways. No ridiculously difficult holes but a true test to allow an honest attempt to play to your handicap. Bunkers are well placed, greens are slick and true, fairways neat and well thought out. One of the hardest things to do when travelling and playing new courses is to adapt, especially in a comp. We played in the mixed comp on Sunday and the combination of friendly members and a great course meant a relaxed game. For players with a golflink handicap the green fees were $22.50 plus $7.00 comp fee. Both nines start with a par 3, which is unusual, but both are interesting holes. The clubhouse is perched on top of a hill, but the course itself is not too bad. The first and tenth drop down and the 9th and 18th greens are elevated, but the course is an easy walk. A delight to play and well worth a visit if you are in the area.

My comment to playing partners (locals) was that their course is a true golfers course. No ridiculously difficult holes but a true test to allow an honest attempt to play to your handicap. Bunkers are well placed, greens are slick and true, fairways neat and well thought out.
One of the hardest things to do when travelling and playing new courses is to adapt, especially in a comp. All the more so when it’s a four ball and you just met your playing partner!
The combination of friendly members and a great course meant a relaxed game and fair score. I will leave the hole by hole descriptions to others and just say .. enjoy!

The most underated course in the state. Played it a month ago and is in next to perfect condition. I think the green fee was less then $40. Everything you read about this place is true give it a go.

First trip around this beautiful course on Saturday just gone. I was amazed by the quality of the fairways and greens considering we are well into a pretty hot summer. Greens in particular are superb, firm, fast and true, but they also hold a well hit approach shot very nicely too. Lots of subtle, and some not so subtle slopes to negotiate. Not the biggest greens around but well protected in most cases by strategically placed bunkers.

Fairways are well manicured and a pleasure to play off. Miss them however, and it is a different ball game. Lots of big tall trees usually mean chipping out if you venture into them, but not a lot of penal undergrowth, which means you have least got a chance to salvage a reasonable score.

Course has a great mix of holes, and I particularly like the range of par 4’s on offer. From sleepers like the 3rd at 309m to brutal challenges like 14 and 15, both at over 390m, you cannot afford to go to sleep on any of them. Doglegs left and right, as well as challenging uphill shots to both 9 & 18. The par 5’s offer the straighter hitter good birdie chances, with lengths from 457m to 491m, all reachable given the right wind conditions. Subtle fairway bunkering and slight doglegs add to the challenge of the par 5’s.

The par 3’s range from 124m for the 10th, which is virtually straight downhill (about a 40m elevation change!) to the 172m 16th. All have smallish, well bunkered greens that present their own challenges, all dependant on wind direction and how well you are hitting your long/mid irons on the day! If I had any minor criticism of this course, it would be that all the par 3’s are downhill, and reasonably similar in looks and length (10th excepted), but the wind does alter the challenge to each of them.

Clubhouse is very nice, with excellent locker and change facilities. Practice facilities include driving range with mats & grass, chipping and bunker practice area and superb practice putting green.

Overall, I was so impressed that I have started proceedings to join this club as a country member, and I think I will be making very regular trips down there!

This is the sort of course you do not tell anyone about, simply to be selfish and keep it all to yourself. You will go a long way find a course of this quality with so few golfers on the ground.

The real feature of the course is the high quality greens and fairways. The layout also provides a challenge for low and high handicappers alike. The locals are friendly and the beer always cold.

I am a member at Bunbury and can certainly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good game of golf. The club had a new retic. system put in just over 18 months ago and its condition now is fantastic. Every hole on the course is different and although not a long course, it has sneaky and undulating slopes, few but strategic bunkers, and plenty of trees. My partners and I constantly revel in the enjoyment and appreciation factor. We more or less had the course to ourselves on Saturday mornings in the past but now have to put our names down early to get a hit-off time that suits us.

Despite hosting the South West Open and multiple Holden Scrambles every year Bunbury golf course remains one of the quietest golf courses I have ever played at. Normally a lack of patrons may indicate the poor quality of a course but with Bunbury this is not the case. Bunbury Golf Course is a well set out, immaculately kept and challenging golf course. Cut amongst large trees you very rarely are reminded that there are other golfers on the course. Best holes on the course would be the par 3 10th and par 4 14th. The 10th gives you a beautiful view from the 40m elevation. The 14th again makes use of some elevation to give a very picturesque tee off. The course is fairly long at times and lets you know if you are having a hard time off the tee. The greens are very slick and true. Basically, for the same price as most public courses, Bunbury is amazing. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for the best course in the south west.
