Nice course in the middle of Maroochydore. Fairways are currently in great condition and nice greens too. An easy walk, pretty flat course with enough water hazards to cause some trouble if your not hitting it straight. Good quality driving range as well. Enjoyable course to play.

Played today for the first time, had a little bit of rain but thoroughly enjoyed, Great fairways & greens with some challenging putts to read correctly. Started just before 7am & the two of us were walking the course, we were in the clubhouse by 10.30am. 14 & 15 around the lake almost feel like they are at another course but they help make a great day. Highly recommend.

Played yesterday and love the course. In my opinion it is a much better course than some of the resort courses in the area. The conditioning of the course is excellent with the fairways being excellent, the greens running true, and the bunkers having the type of sand bunkers should have. The course offers plenty of variety and is a true test of ability, with a price tag that is more than reasonable. It is a pity it won’t be around much longer with the club being relocated.

PROS

  • excellent conditioning
  • reasonable price tag
  • variety of holes
  • challenge of ability

Played on Friday with a group of mid/high handicappers. Coure was in fantastic condition and the groundstaff seem to be everywhere. So much so that I hit one of them who was in a greenside bunker! When I rushed up to apologise he just laughed and said he hardly felt it. Thank God he had a sense of humour. Play this course while you still can. I’ll be back again before it closes.

Sweet course, not a bad layout but in good nick. Greens roll smooth and fairways are always well maintained.

Proshop staff are nice, including the young bloke in the proshop..

Old farts and members here are always off!! I think they all have mental problems..never let anyone through, always complain and whinge, rude to visitors and to beginner female players especially my partner. I mean she is learning to play and I know when and where I am holding ppl up or need to let others through.

I played comps here before with problems too…bring your own fourball or just play social..members arent thebest company here imo…

Was surprised it was still here but great to hear there is a reprieve
Before getting a new course in 2014.

Course was in good nick drier than Jan 2011 I always enjoy
The 13th and 14th around the lake a pity 16-18 fall away a bit

Have to agree with Dudelove. The club and it’s members are a rabble, who drink more than they can handle.

The course itself is pretty uneventfull, bordering on dull at times. Bunkers are friggin terrible.

The bogan capital of the Sunshine Coast. Bogans and old farts everywhere.

I’m a Brissie boy who been up the coast for a few weeks. Hortan Park is the first course I’ve played up there. Was impressed. Wet under foot given the rain but thankfully it was open and the fairways were the softest grass I’ve played (I haven’t played many good courses though mind you). I hypothesise that its on a sandy base so seems to dry well…

Value for money was great given UNI STUDENTS GET ON FOR HALF PRICE- $24 for 18 holes midweek- bargain!!!

Some nice par 3’s. Rather short holes though- if you’re a big and straight hitter I’m sure you’d be able to post a good score. Par 3’s might bring you back in line though…

Was cruising along well until the 14th or 15th round the lake where a number of my balls became lake food….

Only downer on the day was that a group of 4 old dodgers were playing slow as a wet mop for my last few holes and didn’t wave me through. I was playing solo. I don’t care how old you are or how good you are (or used to be!) wave a faster player through!!!

Flat though- I prefer a little elevation but hard so close to the coast…
Looking fwd to comparing it to other courses on the SC

Played Horton Park 4 Dec 2009. Good layout in superb condition-can’t understand an earlier comment that it is not interesting unless you spend your life playing tricky links courses in the dark – and on today’s experience, I rate it 3rd best course on the coast and not a distant 3rd either – I’ve yet to play Noosa Springs, but think I’ve done the rest in this part of the world. For $50 at 10.40.am. on a Friday this is the best value for money on the sunshine coast. If you care about clubhouse, service and all that peripheral stuff, no complaints there either.

I have to agree with the person below me. Played on 30 March and loved it. The course is in great condition other than 2 greens which were clearly undergoing maintenace.

Great staff, good bar and had a super hamburger on the turn.

Greens were in better condition than pelican waters.

I would have to say that on a pure value for money basis this was the best course I played all week – brookwater gets the overall tick for the wow factor.

You wont be disappointed.

Best course on the sunshine coast by far. Don’t even compare it to headland horton park is streets ahead. A+!

The course is in good condition. Nice Couch Fairways and greens. It is pretty tight and the holes are’nt overly long but is a nice layout. The best holes are 14 and 15, which run alonside a large lake that comes into play. In my opinion the best non-resort course on the Sunshine Coast. Friendly members and staff. But be quick, the Bulldozers are moving in around 2011 when the Course Re-locates about 5km west where 2 new 18 hole layouts will be built through some old Sugar Cane fields.

Played Horton at their recent pro am. Greens were incredible having only been renovated 5 weeks prior. Rest of the course was also in very good nick, could no fault condition. Dissapointing last two holes to layout. lets hope the new one is better and in the same condition. well organised day, a credit to the club.

Played the front 9 at 6am with a mate.

If you can hit the ball straight, you will be fine. A very flat course that is currently having a fairway and greens upgrade. A very interesting thing I found at 6am was that the greens were faster than the fairways. I always find it the opposite at every other course at this time, so keep that in mind.

Good course in the centre of Maroochydore. Green fee at reasonable price but green fees for 18 holes should be cut by 5 bucks.

Good course with lots of water and bunkering, watch out for the rough and enjoy the ride!

PROS

  • In the centre of Maroochydore

I played this course in August during a week of golf on the Sunshine Coast. We both wished we had played it earlier in the week rather than as our last game as we both enjoyed it. The course was in great condition and a credit to the greens staff. As with most courses it is easy if you hit it straight but there is plenty of trouble if you stray. Certainly the best value course we played during the week and we hope to play it again before the club gets moved on.

This is a good average members course. Very flat and a little uninteresting. Anyone who rates this as 5 star has not played a trus 5 star golf course - don't be fooled!

If you are on the sunshine coast, this is a "MUST PLAY" golf course. i have played other private courses on the sunshine coast like Hyatt and Twinn Waters and Pelican but none matches up to the condition this course is in. The greens are better, the fairways are better, its cheaper, and most of all, the course wins best course in rural queensland. the course is in that good condition because the green keeper wins best green keeper award every year. You can warm up for your round on the full size driving range and warm down with a $5 drink voucher at the 19th. how can u go past Horton Park Golf Club?

Probably the sunshine coast best kept secret.Voted QLD regional golf course of the year 2005.Both nines a good test of golf .Usually blowing a south easterly in the afternoon taht can get quite strong. Greens and fairways immaculate, and miss the fairways you are in thick rough proving testing at best.Nice and flat for walking with a great mix of holes especially 12,13,14,15 being the best 4 holes on the course. If you have a AGU handicap try the swan challenge on the first monday of the month it is an open comp and $25 comp and green fees is great value. The 17th and 18th an anti climax but still require good shots to make a good score.Great track that has you thinking and using most clubs in your bag .Worth the trip.

One of the little gems. Frustrating as all hell, especially the last three holes. When the wind blows, you will struggle. I played the course several times on holiday and have to say as a Kiwi - the greens were fast, but then all the greens were fast compared to NZ in Winter.

I enjoyed it and would recommend it at $33 a round and a $5 booze voucher given back to you!!

Horton Park is worth a round if your heading to the Sunshine Coast, but not before the better known courses have been played and the likes of Headland and Caloundra tackled. It's a mix of recently renovated (past few years) holes and the older more established holes. There are some good holes to play 4, 6, 12 as well as 13 and 14 probably being the two best holes on the course. Unfortunantly there are some weak holes which let the course down overall.
