Travelled down from sydney to play comp here on a sunday. Had a 10.00 am tee off, and a social group in front of us so was not expecting a quick round. The pace was not bad till we hit the 12th and found the two groups in front from the social club had decided to join up and play the last seven holes together in a group of six. While waiting to tee off i spoke to a member who happened to be on the commitee of the club about the complete lack of respect and selfishness of the group ahead. He apologized and asked if i would make a complaint at the end of my round as this is the only way these matters can get brought before the board and resolved. He also told me that the group were all members of the club and should know better. I told him that it should not be up to him to apologize to me but thankyou for hearing me out. At the end of the round we told the pro shop what happened and gave them the name of the social group, only to be told as they have finished the round there is nothing we can do. Complete waste of time. Its not a bad little course, its just a shame that a few crap members will probably stop me from making the hour and a half drive down here again

I played at this course for the first time on the weekend at 7am. A beautiful looking course with the 9th and 10th holes being my favourite for a variety of reasons. A very challenging course which I enjoyed for a first time hit.

I thought there were way too many sand bunkers surrounding the greens and the greens itself were like putting on a beach. I hope that changes in the near-future.

The kiama golf club are promoting a 12 month membership right now for $585 and I might give it another round to see if I want to pay that sort of money for a course like this par 66 in the Illawarra.

Anyone who thinks this is a five star course is very easily pleased indeed. Kiama is a handy, honest country course that will suit those not looking to be overly challenged but want to enjoy a nice day out without risking too many balls. Reasonably priced green fees and worth a look if you haven’t played there before. Head to Port Kembla if you’re serious about golf and really want to play on the best course around Wollongong

Cons

  • short

This course might not be the longest in the Illawarra but is one of the tightest ones around. Any errant shots here on most holes and you could end up stuck under a pine tree more often than not. But mind you, the bases of the trees have been trimmed back much more now than in the old days when you never had a swing and had to take an unplayable. The signature hole, par 4 10th at about 290m is a great hole that tempts all better hitters to knock it on, however the result can be a watery grave if your short and right or be left with a difficult pitch on if the drive runs through the green. The thing that sets this course apart is the strength of its par 3’s. You must score well on these to play well and there are some great ones. My picks are the 9th, about 155m uphill to an elevated green, also the 12th which is the longest – a par 3 at about 185m long. The course is very well kept at all times of the year. I consider it a 4 star track which I quite often only give to long championship courses around the country. This course is a great test of your short game and it should rank as one of the top courses in the area, alongside The Links Shell Cove, Port Kembla and The Grange Golf Club.

PROS

  • Always in good condition with lots of par 3's and tight holes to test accuracy

Cons

  • A little short and flat but this doesn't make it any easier than other courses in the area

Good course in good condition. Played here during January. Fairly tight course which punishes almost all errant shots. Signature Par 4, 10th Hole a highlight – how any of the A graders get the ball to stop on the green when driving the tee is a mystery to me! Some well placed water hazards and bunkering. Nice clubhouse.

PROS

  • 10th hole

Cons

  • Powerlines crossing the course on the 3rd. Not really in play, just an unpleasant distraction.

Measures 4968m Par 66 with 8 Par 3s ranging from 135-195m, 8 Par 4s ranging from 280-400m and two Par 5s ranging from 500-520m. This course is quite a surprise on challenge along with Jamberoo.

Do not underestimate this course as the tight suburban-like parkland course is tight with pine tree-lined fairways to add some accuracy to your game.

The holes on the clubhouse side of the road (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 8th, 9th, 10th & 18th) have small dams before the greens. These holes all have a slight dogleg turn, are short but challenging to par. The only elevated tee on the course is the 298m 3rd with fairway bunker 70m from the green on the leftside with greenside bunker guarding the leftside.

Over the road, the holes vary in length, but are the same strategy - keep it straight. Par 3s were easy to par but the 195m 17th was difficult to get on from the t, as bunkers guard the leftside and the trees and road are OOB on the right.

Scenic hole is 278m Par 4 10th with lake along rightside from tee to green with bukers on leftside of green.

Played here 11/8/06 and paid $25 weekday green fees. Flat course with more to think about than Port Kembla GC, and close to Shellharbour Links which offers a modest challenge like Kiama. One of the better Par 60s course I've played on. Similar to Jamberoo, but equally as good as the other.

A short but demanding golf course.

Have played it a few times and have always found it to be in great condition, with hard fast greens.

Be warned that if you dont hit the ball straight you WILL be punished . It is quite narrow in places and the ball will always find the trees in it is hit off line.

Unlike a previous reviewer here I found the 9th a very challenging Par 3, 170mter staright up hill to a hard fast sloping green. Almost the best hole on the golf course.

Well worth a game

Dont let the nice background, the lucious greens, the fresh sth coast breezes nor the easy dog legs fool you. Although this is a short golf course, it is hard...

Many par 3s mean that your short game needs to be up to shape, otherwise, the hidden bunkers could mean ur raking skills need to be up to shape too!

It was my first time hitting off at this wonderful course, with my friend, and sponsered golfer peter bartels. We arrived at 7am to a half full carpark, and a nice day on the forecast. Due to popular friday morning crowds saw us teeing off at the 10th. Following by a nice back/front nine.

All in all, a perfect golf course. Staff were nice and friendly, and golfcourse is kept in a remarkable form!

Pick of the holes, would have to be the 18th, a relatively easy hole on paper, the subtle dogleg rite, leads to a complex approach or pin shot, depending on pin placement. A par on this hole, and you know you are doing well. (Even though my fellow golfer peter, found the carpark!!! So if you find a Nike Mojo 2, its his)

Highly recommend to the tour pro or the monthly hacker

Kiama golf club isn't just a great golf course, but has one of the best bistros and views of the South Coast. Even though the course is a par 66, it is still a great challenge with great, big, pine trees on each side of the fairway.Great holes on that course are the 10th,12th,15th,17th and the best hole of all, the 19th!!!!But there is one stupid hole on that course and that is the 9th.Its 175m straight up a big, hill with one of the most small, unjulating greens I have ever seen and with O.B 10m over the green, i think that the guy who desinged the course must have only put in 17 holes but besides that a top track!!!

Kiama Golf Course is one of the best golf courses i have ever played! Only a short par66 Kiama is still very challenging providing a variety of doglegs, water, bunkers, par 3's and tree lined fairways. dont let the short par 66 fool your game as it is very hard to play to or even near your handicap. Kiamas main holes are the dogleg right 500mtr par 5 7th and the 175mtr par 3 9th which is all uphill. Kiamas greens are very awesome and when cut and double rolled are very tough. Kiamas all weather course provides a great escape and challenge from your everyday golf course. A pleasure to play AAA+++

Kiama Golf Club is an extremely tough golf course. Tight fairways are combined with many bunkers and lightning fast greens to create a treacherous course.

Standout holes include the dogleg right par 5 7th, 175m par 3 9th up a hill, the short par 4 10th, with water infront and to the right all the way, and the long par 5 12th. This course is extremely well maintained and is the best wet weather course in the Illawarra.

Don't be fooled by the course's length, this course will surely test the best golfers.

This course is surely overated. It is very short and full of deceptively easy holes.

Still, Kiama is a very nice course and always seems to be in good condition.

Great clubhouse.

Kiama may seem a little on the short side to some, but infact, plays well to it's par. 8 par 3's is not a problem, as many of them are good holes. The course requires good play to score well.

The condition is always good & a round is exceptionally good value.

This course is always very well presented but the lack of land they have means it is a little on the short side with about 8 par 3s.

Still, it's challenging enough to enjoy but I can't agree with the other ratings. Best holes are the tight par 4 1st and the back to back par 3s on the back nine.

This is a beautiful place & a beautiful course.

Kiama is a beautiful site alone and the course lives up to expectation. It is a very cahllenging course with closed in fairways which requires precise accuracy. Although a par 66, it is very difficult to play to par or anywhere near it. It is one of, if not the best golf course in the Illawarra. I recommend it strongly if you like a challenge.
