I should prefix this by saying that as a general rule I don’t like Norman designed courses, this however is the exception to the rule. Played this course in the wind and rain and found the course brutal but against that I enjoyed every minute of it.

There are some absolutely cracking holes and the finish is definately a hold on and get through it. The only downside is the blind par 3 – at least give us a chance first time on the course.

Favorite course I have played. Great selection of interesting holes and landscape. Can’t beat it even with the great sandbelt courses (haven’t played Kingston Heath!). Tough finish.

played this spectacular course on a day of gale force winds and was just blown away (sorry…). it would be awesome on a relatively calm day but this was too tough for me, could only score 19 points and no-one in our group broke their handicap. having said that, the fairways were in great nick and greens very true. i enjoyed playing a links game – lots of bump and run because if the ball got up into the wind it was blown way off course and hard to find. my favorite holes were the 10th with the windmill and the par 3 with the sheer drop at the back of the green.

Best golf course I have ever played – loved every minute of it. Glad it wasn’t windy, the course was long enough and hard enough on a calm day! Standout hole for me were 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16 – Awesome course, well done to ’The Shark’.

had the pleasure of playing at the national in november on a tour moonah in the am, the old, pm and have to say it was the best experience i have had on a golf course anywhere in the world the moonah was immaculate from tee to green very tough and demanding but also fair, and good shots were rewarded we played it off the back markers and i have to say the final 5 holes are the toughest finish i have experienced, only disappointment was we had to walk the course as they were worried about wear and tear on the course from carts, they must be joking did not need a sand bucket only a vacuum and could have played in my slippers it was like carpet , if get the opportunity take it

What a playground this part of the world is for golf. I've been lucky enough to play the Moonah course twice, and it's as good as any links course in Australia. It's as good as Moonah Links, as good as New South Wales, probably better than Hope Island, and rates well against Royal Birkdale and other links types in the UK.

It's aesthetically invigorating, the quality of the tees, fairways and greens are superb, and the layout is just superb.

The 16th would be close to thte toughest par 4 I've ever played. 400m off the blue tees (440 from the blacks...), from an elevated tee you must cross the valley to the next hill if you want any chance at all of reaching the green. If a southerly is blowing this 200m carry needs a monster drive, which if off line ends in typical links bunkers and leaves you with little option but to lay up. The second again needs to carry a valley to a two-tiered green set against a steep hill, with bunkers in front. The bale out area is back and right, but unless you have a northerly wind there's little chance of using those options.

A great challenge and one you'll relish if you're playing well.

There are many great holes and I recommend you grab a chance to play this magnificent course.
