I do like the palmer gold coast but I wouldn’t like to pay more than sixty dollars to play it on the weekend .Some of the bunkers require some TLC eg. SAND . And some clean water in the ball cleaners and replace the the damaged ones. Repair some of the cart paths and cut the grass on the tee boxes some looked like they had not been cut for several days .These are just small things and if they were fixed it would look like a eighty dollar a round course .

Very good ctourse to play with tight tree lined fairways with no room for error. Greens were mint and smooth. One of the best looking 18th holes I have ever seen

Great course. It was really fun and exciting to play with good hole layouts especially on the back nine. Friendly and flexible Pro Shop staff who were nice and helpful. The playing surfaces were good considering the rain.
Will defiantly be back!!

Played on Monday – five and a half hours!!! Course was a little on the rough side but considering the recent rain it played well. With torturous pace of play, it was lucky I didn’t have a decent score going – would have been impossible to keep any rhythm. This is a good layout, genuinely different from most of the rest of the courses on the Coast. How long do we think until Palmer adds mechatronic dinosaurs here as well…

The fairways were pretty wet but it was to be expected after Saturdays rain. I still had plenty of clean lies and it didn’t really hinder the round. The bunkers are in desperate need of a few truckloads of sand. Greens were slow but still held a line to an extent. Pin positions were pretty tough, I had more than a few putts that for all money looked straight at it only to miss up to a foot either side. Pro shop staff were very friendly

I have always liked Robina Woods as a golf club, it is very impressive and demanding. Unfortunately the day that we played 14th April 2013 was the day after a severe rain "event". The fairways on at least 10 holes were so badly affected by water that they were as good as unplayable, the bunkers on most holes were washed out. Countless balls were lost in plugged situations on the fairways or water in bunkers. Apart from that, the greens and tees were good.
Since the club has been taken over by Palmer, the condition of the carts has deteriorated, both for aged and cleanliness. This needs urgent attention. If you pay top fees then you expect the best.

"Shadow of its former self" was what one previous reviewers wrote. Please, cut back on the hard stuff. The course is still in terrific nick, can’t do much about all the rain the region has had in recent months. Awesome layout, fairways terrific and fluffy rough. Exactly what a course should be. All this for $49, find me better value and I’ll buy every reviewer a carton of beer. The only downside is every piece of merchandise has fat Clive’s name on it. Palmer Titanic is the only thing that should have his name on it. Looking down the 18th is magic until you see the roof of the club house. C’mon Clive spend a few dollars and fix her up, you’ve got a bit! Terrific day out at the Woods

Sad to report that it is shadow of its former self…even after only 6months of ’clivedom’. Been coming here for 20+years and love the layout, but the lack of any form of maintenance bar some indiscriminate mowing is heartbreaking. Allowing for the recent bad weather doesn’t cover the paspalum on the fairways and greens with 5 types of grass & holes cut with a blunt woodsaw. Bulk sand piles in the carpark? guess its good that it was 80% empty. Will go back if ownership returns to responsible management.
Was hesitant to be so critical, but after playing Glades the next day in much better condition, we were convinced that what was the great Robina Woods is gone.

Played the course 3 times in the past month. Very wet after the recent rain and carts on paths only. Despite the rain the greens were in great condition and very fast but some of the fairways were holding water. A good test of golf but I prefer the front 9 over the back 9. Staff in the pro shop very friendly.

Played Palmer Gold Coast several times and enjoy the challenges every time. Course is in great shape. Only draw back was that we booked very early – 5.45am – to get a quick game and when you get to half way you find that the 2 × 2 ball groups in front of us and then us are held up by a social club 4 ball that had been send of the back 9 just as we were approaching the back nine. Love the course but this is the second time in last 4 games that they let the back 9 tee go as well when there didn’t appear that many players to warranty a 2 tee hit off.

Since changing hands the course has lost a little condition wise, in particular the greens.

Still love the layout & will continue to play there in the future as long as the course condition doesn’t slip any further.

For $69 worth the money. In general a well designed course and quite challenging for all types of players. Played here two years ago and was very pleased played again yesterday and again happy with course but they are having MAINTENANCE ISSUES. All Bunkers terrible except on the 18th hole, some ball cleaners had no water, many greens need looking after.

Despite the above I will be back.

Absolute joke of a course. Played during a 4 course tournament this was easily the worse. Hidden hazards and sloping rock hard greens made the game a nightmare. Wouldn’t play here again with another persons money. Ended up tired and annoyed. The other courses were enjoyable although my golf at four courses was below par.

Am yet to join a club on the gold coast where I have lived about 40 years now. I have played golf about 120 times & believe I play about a bogie round average. Today was my first time playing @ (Robina woods) "Palmer Gold Coast" My partner & I are not amongst the elite income earners so it’s not too often we play luxury coarses (I mean expensive) But we tee’d off at 1pm on a Monday & payed on-line for $39 each with cart. It was a good challenging lay-out with water along most of the 18 fair-ways. A good % of the holes gave you a chance to open-up for some bigger drives & even the par 3’s off the white tee’s were around 170m +. The greens were very large & in good condition, but I found them very firm & very often sloping strongly. This affected my score dramatically, as I chipped onto the green I often rolled-on considerably after landing it, & more than once rolled off again. The number of shots around the course doing this blew my score-card over the top. The fairways were excellent & didn’t encounter any bogans during play. I will definately play again, but only on discounted rates as the full asking price I thought too steep. The price of drinks & snacks was far too expensive-$4.60 for a very small bottle of coke, $5 for a dry meat pie & $6.50 for a meagre ham & tomato sandwich.

played 11/7, carts on paths as a lot of fairways quite wet underfoot, making iron shots in slightly harder. Good layout as you meander through the trees, not customary up and down adjacent fairways. Greens ok considering rain. Tough but enjoyable course which the more you play it the easier it would get as tee shot placement important.

We played after a solid week of rain and cold weather and the course was quite wet and it was carts on paths, but what a great course. Considering the amount of rain the course was great. It was the first time any of us had played Robina Woods in about 10 years and I can guarantee it will not be that long a break again. A great lay out and a great day had by all. The greens were slower than I remember, but the undulations on them more than make up for it.

34. Gold_Coast_Golfer | Rated | 27 Jun 2012 | Add A Review

I find this course very frustrating and as a result somewhat difficult, Almost every hole on this course requires you to be in the right spot off the tee, if not you have no shot to the green. On most courses a drive down the fairway either side will see you have a shot in, not here miss the landing spot and your toast. On the front nine you can not miss the fairway left or right or your in the trees or water. It is rather hilly and walking takes its toll.

On the greens the grain runs down hill and as a result uphill putts are slow and the break is well allow double what you normally would, putting accross the break allow a foot more than you think and you always want to be below the pin here. The greens are very narrow, some like the first are only 9-10 paces accross but they are quite long and playing to the correct side of the green is vital as a shot on the wrong side will see your ball roll 20 feet away from where you think it will stop. The 5th is a prime example.

I can shoot high 70s low 80s around most courses, However Robina kicks my ass from tee to green, I play off 9 and the lowest round there in 20 outings is an 83, its Par 71. If you are not fit take a cart or you’ll be stuffed by the 4th green. The drinks cart is never far away. It is quite a good layout very secluded in the sense that you don’t see other golfers on the front 9, your playing in the woods. As there are few distance marker I recommend taking an extra club into the greens as they are usually uphill. As much as I hate the course I love it as playing open hit it down the wrong fairway and hit it again courses don’t make you a better golfer. This course like Colonial will make you hit it straight if not you’ll spend all day looking for balls.

PROS

  • challenging off the tee got to be in the right landing area
  • very slopey so you have to think about your tee shot
  • lots of break obvious and subtle on all greens
  • the practice green is a carbon copy of the course greens
  • driving range accross the road with good qlty balls and off grass too
  • bunkers in all the right spots
  • its a hard course

Cons

  • very hilly
  • very narrow greens
  • not a fan of all the undulating fairways that effect almost every shot.

Beware…..

They have a whole new fleet of golf carts and ask that you sign for them as you take them out. What they don’t tell you is when you bring it back they will look for the slightest scratch and mark on the buggy and charge you for it. So if you play there, check your buggy with a fine tooth comb and report any scratch – I mean any scratch – to the pro shop before you drive away.

Course is very wet on many fairways, which is surprising given the lack of rain.

Played this course on a 3 day golf trip with 7 other guys through Oz Golf. This was the best, by far of the 3 courses for mine. Very pretty and amongst spectacular forests.
It smacked of what I’d think Augusta might be similar to. I’m only guessing though as i haven’t been any where near Augusta, other than on TV.
The other 2 couses were Lakelands & Royal Pines. Both of which were nice(ish) but I found them a bit boring. Special mention for Oz Golf who looked after us brilliantly.

Guy in the pro shop was friendly & welcoming. Great layout & design where good course management & accuracy off the tee is needed – is best played off the back plates to appreciate the design. Course in good condition given the recent rain though it (along with Clubhouse)is showing signs of need of additional capital which is probably why we can have the pleasure of playing Robina Woods for such a reasonable green fee in the first place. Contrary to other reviewers pace of play terrific, linked up with a friendly member after 5 holes & round took under 3 hours. Lots of memorable holes & great finishing hole with clubhouse framed off the tee special.

Robina Woods was in suprising good condition for the amount of rain that had been around. Teed off at about 7am on a Monday morning so I had a great run, finishing the 18 holes in about 3 hours. The course is a thinking golfer’s course with course management key to good scores on several holes as water and the tall timber come into play. A good course to balance driver and the long irons.

No im finishing now.We were very disappointed wish we had stuck to our original course choice Glades. As for the course very wet considering we hadn’t had much rain over the previous days. If you like to open up your shoulders off the tee and let rip, make sure you take plenty of balls with you, you will need them!!!!

Played today with work mates as an "end of night shift" treat. We will be back (albeit not sleep deprived next time).

Thoroughly enjoyed the day, not sure about the comments regarding poor upkeep? We saw dozens of green staff all working at course beautification. Greens as true and as slick as I have played for a long time. None of the perceived issues with slow play (Tuesday mind you) and found our way around the course with little or no difficulty.

Very nice mix of holes, great par 5’s and the elevation changes on some of the holes were magnificant.

not happy with the course. absolutely terrible upkeep it seems as though no money is being spent on maintaining the grounds at all.
we payed $50 for a round and felt thouroughly ripped off.
tight fairways and hazards are well placed but stray no more than 2m from the fairway and your walking among fallen trees and branches.
the water hazards are full of beer bottles and chip packets. no directional signs on the cart paths so never know which way to go. rotten bench seats at all tees so when your waiting (which you will be due to no marshalls) you will break the chairs.
one tee on the back nine actually had synthetic grass that you couldnt push a tee into.

Good, but tough golf course. Some holes have little, if any, bail out areas.

First time around it would be worth investing in the course planner. There are no plans on the tees and it’s very difficult to work the layout and distances because of the changes in elevations and dog legs.

Played here on 4/8/2011. Agree with everyone else that it is a great layout, fairly tight, and you really have to think your way around the course. A great mix of holes, some with water hazards, some treelined and all in very good condition.
The clubhouse and proshop seemed fairly relaxed, a bit more casual than some other upmarket courses, but still efficient. Will definitely make a return to Robina Woods on my next G.C. visit.

Only problem was that there was a bit of water under foot on some of the fairways and tees. It was so bad on one hole that they have replaced the tee with a synthetic grass tee. It was almost impossible to push your tee into the synthetic grass mat! Loved the course though and I hope that they find some new owners who spend some money on getting the course up to scratch. With such a great layout this could easily be a top 50 course.

A terrific Golf Course at great value through ISEEK, highly recommended. Placement off the tee important and respect into the greens. Greens are true and fast. Enjoy with refreshments cart visit 3 time on the way around. The 18th is one the the nicest finishing holes.

I thought Robina Woods golf course was good although I can’t say the same for amount of people that was allowed to play on the day. I understand it was Sunday and that it was going to be busier than a weekday but to move as slowly as we did was very frustrating. To take two and a half hours to play 6 holes and not to see a marshall once was enough to not make me go back there again. Luckily we were allowed to play the back 9 at the Colonial golf instead (After we complained) where we had a much better experience.

PROS

  • Golf course in good shape

Cons

  • Too many people on the course
  • No marshall

The course is in need of a major maintenance and tree-clearing program. Many tees and three or four fairways are in poor condition and on one tee, the 9th, you hit off a mat as you would at a driving range. The proximity of tall trees around the tees and bordering the fairways is the reason as the grass doesn’t receive enough sunlight especially in winter. I reckon you need to remove one thousand trees from the course to bring the course up to an acceptable standard. There are some holes on the back nine in good shape but overall the course was a major disappointment.

A great deal through iseek enabled to take my son and his mate for the most affordable deal available. Great to get juniors to experience courses of this calibre. Course was in top shape and the greens were awesome, tough but fair. The game took us under 4 hours with an early tee off. We will be back again. Much better layout than Lakelands.

PROS

  • Pro shop staff were helpful
  • Condition was tip top

Cons

We played the course last Thursday and thoroughly enjoyed it. A little bit disconcerting to lose balls in the middle of the second fairway in the foam markers dropped for spraying – but I guess we have to accept that. A weird way to lose a ball!

This is a golfer’s course that requires discipline and patience. Not exceptionally long but it’s tight fairways on several holes do require a relatively straight tee short. The tranquil setting with some great scenery makes Robina Woods a sheer pleasure for golfers of all skills. The overall experience is excellent and I would highly recommend this course for anyone planning to golf in Gold Coast.

One of those courses that you have to plot your way around to far off course and your in trouble !!!

I have to admit I was disappointed with the day at Robina Woods … partly because I had to leave the course after the 14th after 4 and a half hours due to other commitments … partly because the course was still struggling from recent rains … partly because I was paired with very inexperienced playing partners … partly because I had played Brookwater the day before …and partly because I was disappointed with my play on the day. It was just a long time to be out on a golf course for only 14 holes worth and perhaps I missed some of the more spectacular holes coming in??

Great course !!! Great Pro Shop staff !!!! Great Bar & Restaurant staff !!! With a sensational beef burger after the round. Considering the rain the course was in great condition. Carts on paths made it a bit slow but that is understandable, better than having a trashed course for next week’s players. Well done, just need to see the drinks cart a little more often. Too bad the young lady on the drinks cart missed out on lots of good $ tips.

Had a great day even though the driver was hurting me….. Fist time playing Robina Woods and have to say Ill be back. Awsome greens and loads of interesting holes. Pro shop and bar staff were great and speed of play was fantastic ( 3hrs 50mins ) mind you we did tee off at 630am. Love to play the course in dry conditions but consdiering the rain the Sth East has seen recently the course was in great condition.

Robina is a good course. Always a little harder than some of the others on the Gold Coast which make it a good challenge. The course still had a few damp spots on the edges but the fairways were pretty good after a few days of sun.

Been up on tour this past week and have played Hope Island / The Glades / Lakelands / Colonial / Brookwater and Robina Woods. Now I have been told Robina Woods is in receivership, but gee you couldnt tell. By far the best greens I played on all week were Robina’s and their Fairways were also good although wet, but apparently the Coast had over 75mm of rain this week. Loved it, will be on our tour list again later in the year.

Played April 2011 – despite LOTS of rain in days leading up to game, course played really well. Agree with the lack of distance markers being an issue, and did think the rough was a fraction too long (although to be fair, I did hit it there…). Greens were in very good nick – true and even.

Course was great, some bunkers weren’t in great condition and should be GUR. Only complaint was the lack of distance markers on the course. Towards the end of the round i discovered there were some distance markers on the asphalt path adjacent to the fairways, however most of the time we were always down the middle of the fairway and the distance markers were too far away.

Played Robina Woods a couple of weeks ago on a business trip to the Gold Coast. Got a great tee time and deal through Iseek, which made life easy!

First impression of the course: Picturesque, well manicured, challenging. It’s a thinker’s layout needing strategic management of the course rather than a bomb and gouge style of game.

I loved the play through the trees and the variety of holes. Contrary to what some others have said, I didn’t find the rough too long or penal though, admittedly, I had a good day and found the fairway most of the day. When I did find the rough, I thought it was challenging but, in retrospect, not nearly as gnarly as the rough at Lakelands which I played the next day. Fairways were in outstanding shape as were the couple of bunkers I did find. As for the greens, I thought they were in great shape and the speed was consistent.

Staff at the course were very friendly and welcoming, and it was nice to have a beverage cart come around on a few occasions.

If I had one complaint, it would be the lack of distance markers on the course — or perhaps it’s the lack of visible distance markers on the course, I’m not sure.

Overall, I loved the course and will definitely be back. I couldn’t believe it wasn’t more busy in fact. Perhaps that may be the reason why I got around the course in less than 4 hours. If this course was in North America, they’d easily be charging $200 and up…

PROS

  • Beautiful, challenging layout
  • Great course condition
  • Friendly staff
  • Variety of holes

Cons

  • Lack of distance markers

Played the comp on Saturday 12th Feb. Took us 5.5 hours to go around. Not very impressed.
The layout of the course is not too bad, the greens, while not the truest were undulating so quite a challenge.
The fairways were at times patchy and I thought they should have preffered lies as sometimes your must play the ball off a dirt patch in the middle of a fairway.

What I didn’t like above all was the first cut. The grass is about 1.5 inches long (the same height as a galf ball) and heaven forbid you end up in the first cut because the chances of finding your ball is about 50/50. I lost 2 balls in the first cut where I thought I hit a straight shot up the fairway, and to make my point, I found about 3-4 balls resting in the first cut where people have obviously failed to locate them

would not recommend robina woods at all. rough way too long and very difficult to find balls that were in rough. you didnt have to be far off the fairway to lose a ball. even though it was wet, for the price you are much better playing at royal pines.

The course condition was so far OK.
But some bunker’s sands were flow out.
And we took long time to find a ball in the rough cause of too long grass.

I used to ,love Robina Woods., now I would not recommend to anyyone for a good social day of golf.
The rough is very deep and fine grass, so if the ball is sprayed even 6 inches off the fairway it is very difficult to find.
6 holes, about 8 lost balls that did not come from very poor shots. Just a liitle bit off the rough would be OK. Golf is not meant to a game of hide and seek "lets hunt for the ball"

Also after 7 holes losing ball and playing behind 3 very slow players (just over 2 1/2 hours to play 6 and a half holes) there was no enjoyment so we left. Noone seems to monitor slow play and it was very slow. I can only imagine perhaps in front were not only slow but had to play hide and seek with their golf balls as well

Played this morning and had the best round in two years. The course reminds you to check your ego at the door and use irons or fairway woods at the tee. It also could have been that my latest set was totally fitted for me and that I toned it down a bit on the swing with practically a whole new setup. The fairways were in great condition. Some muddy and soft spots around the 150 markers, but nothing to fret about. The greens were hard and manageable. Hardly anyone on as the Junior Pennants were cancelled last minute. Didn’t bother me at the least. Wouldn’t pay full price. Bring heaps of balls. Hard to find balls in just 1st cut of rough.

Played Robina Wood recently and enjoyed every minute. Very well designed course with large trees and developed vegetation. The fairways are in top nick and carve their way through the tall gum trees.
Plenty of bunkers with a nice amount of sand, challenging greens which were OK but i expected them to be a little slicker as they were a bit inconsistant.
We saw the drinks cart at least 3 seperate occassions and the guys at the Pro shop were informative and helpful.
About the only thing i could pick on was the golf cart. It was pretty slow moving which was a good thing as the breaks didn’t really work that well.

Played today in good conditions. Despite the coring of fairways they played well. Two disappointing aspects. Firstly the greens were quite patchy and didn’t roll as well as I remember and it didn’t appear to have anything to do with the recent heavy rain. Secondly, there is an artificial tee in play on the 9th, which you cannot put a long tee in to hit driver. I teed it up off to the side. Quite strange considering the other tee blocks looked pristine. Would play again but would never pay full price.

Played last week and thought it was a bit over rated to be honest. I have played most resort courses in the area and Robina would easily be at the lower end of the scale. Tees and fairways were the most dissapointing but greens ok. Overall presentation of the course is quite untidy with leaves and sticks impeding lies, weeds everywhere and treeline scattered with fallen down trees and broken branches. Course has a great layout but condition leaves a little to be desired

Played here monday 1pm.. For a weekday was still a few pairings about which made things a little slow but cleared up by the second nine..

Firstly, i played Parkwood 3 days earlier at Gold coast and the difference in courses was phenomenal. Robina woods is in Exceptional shape and is challenging but gives everyone a chance.. Also used a little of the iPhone app iYardage to guage distances.

Was a cracking day for swinging the metal stick and my tee off time could not have been more perfect – with the sun setting at the top of the 18th tee.. What a sight!

Played the big 4 coast courses last week and cannot believe the feedback from Mikiwraco about Robina Woods. We must of played on the same day and I think he was the group in front, who spent all day in the trees looking for balls. The house comment is strange as I felt I was enclosed in a forest with most fairways treelined and rarely did I see a house. I guess if you have a shocking round you give a bad comment.
The course was in immaculate condition despite it being winter, fairways were striped with good coverage and greens terrific. The speed of the greens was perfect, a great smooth roll and if they were any quicker you would putt off the green.
Staff were very friendly and helpful, clubhouse facilities older but didn’t go there for that. I came to play a terrific course and that’s what I got. In the best condition of all the coast courses at the moment and great value for money.
We will be returning for another round in the very near future.

Have played this course before and both times have found it to be a challenge. The course is maintained very well and reminds me of my old home course in Launceston Tas. Tree lined fairways and rough that is rough means that straight hitting is required, as always but does not always happen that way. Had a good day at Robina Woods in the woods.

Played Today. Was quite dissappointed with the overall course. Clubhouse and surrounds very run down, golf carts very old and need upgrading. The course itself was in fair condition, fairways were average with heaps of divot marks unrepaired, tee boxes are in terrible condition, greens were quite good but extremely slow.
Distance markers on fairways were missing from sprinkler heads, making it impossible to judge distance.
Dont like the feel of the course with the houses being so close.
Overall experience 2/10.

This course a sleeper. You come to the coast and think Lakelands, Palm Meadows the Glades and Hope Island. Please, I’ve played the others recently and this course is as good as any of them and apart from the Glades more scenic than any of them. Certainly playing this track the front nine particularly can make you think of some holes at Brookwater, Kooralbyn and even Tuncurry in NSW.

The Greens are better, the layout more intreging it has more undulations and over all is a better course.

Whilst the club house looks great from the 18th tee first impressions when driving in reminds you of a suburban course and the facility at 21 years is starting to show it’s age.

You cannot fault this course. If you want a resort course go play the Glades, if you want a great golf course play here!

If you don’t rate this course it’s probably because you did n’t play well on the day!

Great course will be back and will try and find the money for membership as it’s that good!

However, the houses are set some away back and don’t really intrude on the atmosphere of the course. This course requires thoughtful golf to score well and it rewards the good shots. Greens were fast but true and the whole course was presented beautifully. The native vegetation is fantastic and it is difficult to believe it is in the middle of a residential area – so well planned and treed. One of the best courses I have played and fully recommended.

I loved Robina Woods. The course was in great condition and great to play a course that is so interesting. Greens were good and we got around around in 3 1/2 hours never had to wait or were rushed. Oakley thursday competition is great value! Robina still stands up as one of the Gold Coast best.

Anything under $60 for 18 with a cart is well worth it at Robina Woods. Tight challenging fairways and slick greens makes this a great course for mid handicappers. Friendly staff. Our day had some slow players causing us to take over 4 hours to play but otherwise a great day. The clubhouse serves great meals too.

Robina Woods is a very good course, within easy access from Surfers Paradise. A year ago I played the front nine only and this time managed to find time to do the whole 18 holes. The front 9 for me, is by far the more intruiging and interesting 9 holes. Great use of the natural lay of the land, with many beautiful trees, water streams, and many birds accompanying your game. Very undulating.

The back 9 was good, but didn’t really seem like the same course, and was entirely more forgettable, and flat in my opinion.

As a mid handicapper I also found the layout overall a little too pecuniary for balls wide of the mark. So much water in play and some of it hidden can lead to some disappointments.

Good service from the food cart and they were nice and friendly.

The pro could occasionally smile and be a little more enthusiastic though!

Nevertheless I would not hesitate to return as the course condition remains very high and its pretty reasonable value. Best as an afternoon front 9 holes I think.

Great course. Have played it a few times and always enjoy it. Some course marshalls would have been nice though because our front none took 3 1/2 hours to play because of a few groups in front. Still a good day out.

Nice course, pretty surroundings, with some challenging holes. However, not worth the full green fee of $120. I believe it would only be worth $60 for 18 holes with cart. If that was that the case I would be a good course to play.

Played Robina Woods with my broth-in-law from Sydney and had a great round of golf. We organised an early tee off and from the start we enjoyed every hole. As many say, the course is broken into 2 sections. The front nine is hilly and very testing while the back nine allows for more mistakes but makes up for that with longer holes and more water. I kindly donated a few balls to the water.
Overall a well maintained and challenging course. Will be back.

Played Robina today, booked for The Colonial but it was still under water. I played here about 7 years ago and was really impressed, today, I was more impressed. What a course, probably one of the best I have ever played. The greens today were sooooo fast and soooo true, it was great. It was slow today, very big field and took about 4.5 hours, but that didn’t detract from the wonderful bushland setting. The test of golf from the back tees was really great and not too lomg like Hope Island or Palm Meadows. Very strategic shot placement required on some holes. Staff were great. All in all, a most wonderful day. 10/10 (I birdied 16 and 18)

Fantastic. For someone who gets to play as regularly as I do it was great to play a course that rewarded good shots and let you get away with the ordinary ones.

Absolutely outstanding course and all the better for playing it at a cost of $49 inc cart. Only had a couple of delays on tees because of par 3’s but the 4 1/2 hours was spent enjoying the surroundings and seeing the way the course was carved out of the country’s vegetation.

Have been playing Robina Woods a number of times over the last 12 months including one corporate day.The pro shop guys have always been curtious and professional. On course last week I found the greens so fast and smooth. The course is a great day out with a few mates, no wife or kids and a few beers. It provided a challange to all golfers in our group. A great layout and very testing. Our group all thought the green keepers do a fantastic job. Congratulations on a fine product.

Well presented course that is older than most of the other courses on the coast. Tighter to play and less forgiving if you are not on the fairways. Well manicured greens and fairways. Plays tougher off the blue markers but if your ball is in play you can still make pars. The clubhouse is a bit old but the beer still tastes great. Everything was ready when i got there and they got me away ahead of a social group so i was not held up. Friendly staff who were great. I would play this course again.

PROS

  • Good tight layout
  • Older established course

Cons

first time playing this course, and i loved it, i played a day after heavy rain which made the bunkers unplayable but everything else was in fantastic condition, you would never have known the greens had even been wet, same as the fairways, cant wait to come back up to the gold coast to have another crack at this course, definately one of the best ive played, it was a pleasure to play and the front nine is picture perfect….
and the 18th is fantastic whole to finish with,

The unique(as in isolated) holes on the front nine winding through housing estates was attractive and I felt more challenging than the back nine. Greens were large and undulating with the potential for some tricky positions. I had three concerns with the course- firstly, the greens were uncut and incredibly slow; secondly, there were limited fairway distance markers-many had been scratched off the sprinkler heads or were non existent; finally, there was no profile of the hole to be played either on the card or on the tee box, making positioning of your tee shot or distance to trouble simply guesswork.

Disappointing start to a good round: we booked a tee time of 2.30pm through iseek.Arriving at 2.15pm we were told to head to the 1st tee. After waiting 10min at the 1st the marshall arrived to inform us that we couldn’t tee off as there was a field of members coming through that had started a 12.30pm shotgun, could we proceed to the 10th.Arriving at the 10th there were still another 4 teams in the comp to come through (groups ranging from 3 to 5 people)in front of us.We then drove the buggy up as far as the 7th to see if we could fit in but no.Back to the proshop for further advice we were sent back to the 10th.Finally at 3.20pm we teed off finishing 9 holes at 5.20pm due to holdups. We also were told that the cart had to be back by 6.15pm.We raced and completed the second 9 holes to be back in by 6.35pm. Not the most enjoyable day and disappointed with the organisation considering the fees but great course layout.

The BEST golf on the Gold Coast! Robina’s layout is second to none. The front nine are a great test of golf with tight fairways, plenty of slopes and tricky greens. The back 9 opens up a bit more with some room for error, but water and tricky greens (particularly 16/17) will keep you honest!

Play is generally good speed as the locals always seem to give way to faster or lesser number groups. Speaking of the locals they can definately play! … we were a 2 ball and went round in 3.5 hrs, while a 4 ball of members were right up with us all the way behind us!

the renovations in progress proved to be no hinderance whatsoever. despite the scarified fairways and recently top-dressed greens, the course still played well and had no effect on our scores. a small price to pay when you know it is only for the benefit of the course.

We had a great round at Robina Woods. The front 9 in particular is great fun.
Distance info is scarse and a lot of sprinker markers are missing. Course guide would have been a good investment.
Like all GC courses this time of year it is a bit dry.
Greens and tees had recently been punched but weren’t too bad.
Overall great value.

Teeboxes and greens were shocking! greens had been cored and heavily seeded. A shame because the fairways were good. I appreciate we paid a reduced rate $50 including cart but the greens were that bad we only played 14 holes and had enough. I gather by the lack of people on the course on the day we were amongst the few who did not know about the state of the greens.

Had a wonderful round – but the tee’s and greens had been cored – so my putting was a little rough. This added about 6 strokes to my usual score (this is my story and I’m sticking to it.) Other wise a brilliant round – club house is one of the nicer ones too.

I played Robina Woods on the 12th december for my birthday. I got the renovations special as they had cored, sanded the greens. I have played the coarse several times and it is still up there with the best coarses on the coast. As many others have said it is a coarse of two nines and it does test your accuracy. Played in foursome. Great service by lady in Bistro before teeing off. The Pro Shop boys lacked that enthusiasm – perhaps they should swap. Price ratio for course quality was excellent. Used the mid tees and as we have no handicaps and twice a year golfers but probably should have used back tees. Straight 3 woods off the tee were running in to fairway crossings such as rocks and the like. Good for the ego but bad for the second shot. Really could not fault the maintenance of the course. Paid $5 for the course book and the yardages in their were useless.

Well, played here on Subday. Course itself was ok, good challenge and in good condition. Clubhouse looked a little run down for a "top" coast course. Good greens and fairways not too bad.

Service from staff- 0 stars. Perhaps the worst welcome ever from any course I’ve been to. In a word, rude. When you are paying top dollar at any course, the very least the staff could do is say hello. It was as if none of them wanted to be there. Pick your act up.

Beautiful course cut through woodland. You hardly know that the course is surrounded by houses.
Every hole is a pleasure to stand on the tee and look down at the next challange set out like and oil painting front of you.

Its a short course that calls for good course management, I reccomend you play off the back tees as we were hitting 7 irons on some holes, we played off the whites.
Greens were a little slower than I like but that is purely down to prefeerence.

Staff were relaxed and friendly. All up was one of the best $50 I’ve ever spent.

This is the third time I’ve played Robina Woods and as usual it was in very good condition. I would highly recommend anyone visiting the Gold Coast to take some time to play the course. especially the low markers, it can be a bit challenging for the higher handicap and occasional golfers, so I would suggest you have a few spare balls in the bag. Overall it is an enjoyable course, but it can turn nasty if you get out of position or off the short grass.

PROS

  • Nice layout, with enough shortish par 4's to give you a few chances for par and birdies if your good enough, or in my case lucky enough.

Cons

  • Can be a bit daunting for the higher handicap players, but still enjoyable to play.

Really enjoyed the layout but course condition let it down. Tee condition on most of the holes was pretty ordinary and on one hole we actually tee’d off synthetic grass. Thought the greens were brilliant – very true but multi tiered and very undulating so no easy putts. Wildlife makes you feel like you are in a tropical oasis – hard to believe it is downtown Robina. Unfortunately, round marred by a very slow group of four who lost a number of holes to group in front but never allowed our group of two to play through despite watching them tee off on almost every hole.

BUT very disappointed with the people 2 groups in front of us who were monumentaly slow. 2 hours and 40 minutes for 9 nine holes is an absolute disgrace and people like that should go and play put put. VERY unhappy about only getting to do the front 9. My recommendation is play during the weeks so you get away from twats like that.

I’ve got similar reviews to everyone else. We played there yesterday and the course was in fantastic condition. Even after reading so many positive reviews about it, it still shocked us to see how good it was. Only minor complaint would be the slow rate of play. Fairways and Greens in very good order. Difficult course as very narrow fairways and not forgiving as virtually no fairways are adjacent to each other. Meaning unless you are probably a 12 or better golfer you may find it to frustratingly difficult to enjoy. Personnally I didn’t like the course layout and vegitation encompassing the course is very boring and dry scrub. Not picturesqe at all. The course is very run down in terms of the club house and such things as cart paths and the like. The club house has been let go for some time, it was more like a pub than a club house !! I wouldnt pay more than $50 to play this course. Its more like a suburban club than a quality resort style course with great regards to the lack of facilitys. How they charge $110 is a joke. Wont go back. But again the greens and Fairways were well presented. The Staff were all very helpful and friendly.

Good Layout. Front Nine is Hilly and tight in places, requires some thought to club selection. Lot’s of water to catch stray balls but no water carries. Back nine opens up but still requires careful club selection.Course condition was reasonable for this time of year, Fairways and greens showing signs of winter dormancy. Our 1pm tee off was marred by one slow group holding everyone up and we were only able to complete 15 holes and drive back to clubhouse in the dark.Staff were friendly and attempted to keep things moving but we had a long wait on every tee.Course was crowded on a weekday, so don’t expect to finish in daylight in July. Course attracts all types and abilities which makes for a very slow round.

I played here two weeks ago. The course itself is fantastic. Very natural and unforgiving. The greens are not great to putt on but I was informed that they use this grass as its cheaper and easier to maintain.

Thats fine if it was a chepa council course but this aint. The rest of the course was in great condition. The only issues I had was the slow play.

I was playing on my own and had two groups of two in fron of me. I waited till the group in front of me had hit off the first hole till I hit and didnt catch them intil about the 5th.

This was ok ezcept that they had also caught the group in front of them and that group refused to let us through. There was no sign of a Course Marshal to speed things up or make them let us through. I was playing well up until this point but due to waiting up to 15mins on a tee to hit off my golf suffered baddly.

I eventually ended up joining the group behind me who had 3 in it, after they caught me and there were 4 gfroups waiting on one tee. This experience ruined a day that I had been looking forward to for a long time.

ABSOLUTELY the WORST course management we have come across. From hole 5 to 13 we had a wait of 10 mins on each hole as there were 4 groups on one hole thanks to a gruop ahead. Course marshall came around on the 6th and said he was onto it and we never saw him again. We got sick of it ans left after 13th (13 holes took 4 hours). Complained to the pro shop who offered no sympathy, only excuses. NOT HAPPY. (the course, what we saw of it, was great).

The fairways looked excellent and played to my game. The only thing I didnt like was the wait due to no course marshall and the group of kids behind us which kept on hitting up on us. I love the 17th hole and the 15th hole which were a great highlight.

I would say one of the best golf courses in Queensland. Worth Playing Again!

Played June 09 – What a great course! Although the course was wet from the recent rain (no carts on fairways – path only)it was fantastic. Each hole is unique, while reasonably tight, not absurdly hard. The 17th down the hill (with the wind blowing)is one of the best golf holes in Qld.

We had never palyed at Robina Woods before so took a 1pm tee time for a reduced price. Carts on path only due to previous days of rain, the course is interesting but it was quite wet in a few areas of the fairway.

I shot 9 over on the front (stoked) as I was able to keep the ball in the middle of the fairway but hubby said its too narrow for him. I would have liked to see what I would have scored on the back nine as it looked very challenging.

We only played to the 14 hole due to it getting dark. We thought there were either too many players out ( and there were penty of groups behind us) or slow play, no marshall out too speed things up.

Hope the Colonial proves play to be faster.

Excellent golf course. Really nice setting. Challenging lay out. Great greens. Only a couple of slightly boring holes.
I would definitely play there again if given the chance.

Good morning, this was my first game at Robina Woods. Unfortunately we only got to play 8 holes before the heavens opened up and we had to abandon play. We were so dissapointed not to play the rest of the course. I was really enjoying the course with some difficult chalanges and fast greens with a real tropical feel on some holes. Will have to go back and experience the 10 holes we missed out on. Looking forward to it. The staff were excellent.

Course was excellent, but BEWARE it took us 3 & 1/2 Hours to play 14 holes. It was dark at 5:30pm so we did not finish our round. Need to tee off before 1pm if you have any chance. Too many people on the course means you have to wait at least 10 mins at each tee.

The course was great, pity the electric carts did’t last the entire 18 holes. When we tried to get replacement carts nothing was done. Bit of a shame that our lasting memory of the day will be pushing the carts up hill frantically tring to fit in the remaining few holes before dark.

Staff,course,service,cart were all A1. Simple.
Maybe just one thing- signs or similar telling foursomes to waive thru a single player rather than make them wait for 4 people to tee off.

great course love the set up cant wait to play again. Front nine is a little better than the back nine but in saying that 16 and 17 were my two favourite holes. helpful staff made for a good day.

Played this course on Saturday 22nd Nov, 2008. I love the layout of this course. Parts of the course remind me of Bonville. ANother thing that reminded me of Bonville were the greens. Slick and fast but they deffinately putted true. Outside of 110m from the greens you had no chances of landing on the green and stoping it on the green. Which is part of why I like this course. This particular day the course had recieved over 250mm of rain in the last week so obviously the Bunkers were out of play and it was prefered lie through the green. However I know someone who played their the very next day and they said a couple of bunkers were out of play but the rest were open and no prefered lie. So I think that shows that the course is well drained and also very well maintained. I love the course and will go back again.

Played Robina over the week end, in a word MINT. Greens were quick, fairways looked liked Augusta, couldn’t fault a thing. First game there in over 2 years & i must say the best conditioned course on the coast at present. After all the wraps it’s been getting of late it certainly lived up to expectation! I’LL BE BACK.

Played Robina Woods today. An enjoyable test of golf. Not a monster by any stretch but position is paramount on most holes which are fairly tight.

Condition of the course was very good. Greens were excellent. Tees and Fairways very good. Keep the ball in play and you will score well around here as it is not overly long. However if you are spraying the ball off the tee or with your approach shots, there are plenty of hazards to accumulate your score.

My biggest criticism was the fact that there are a few holes that are blind from the tee where you run out of fairway with a water hazard running through the middle of the fairway. Very frustrating to hit a good drive right down the centre of the fairway only to find that you have run out of fairway and are in the water. The only other criticism that I had was the fact that there are no par 5’s between the 3rd hole and the 16th.

Overall however an enjoyable course and round. Looking forward to playing there again.

Played Robina Woods today 4/06/08. Gold Coast is just getting over some heavy rain. The course was in great condition, greens were a little slow, but fairways at tight and makes you think if you should take out the driver or not on some holes. Play was a little slow but the 18th hole was worth the wait. Great finishing hole.

Just returned from the Gold Coast where they’ve had huge amounts of rain, I was lucky enough to get on at Robina Woods to play in between down pours and I can say it was awesome considering the conditions. Very green and very challenging – look forward to returning when it’s dry to compare….

I played Robina in mid March 08 for the second time and was slightly disapointed. The greens were extremly slow and I found that quite a few of the short par fours were tricked up to the point I hit 7 iron then wedge on one. The last two holes are great but I can’t say I will be back when I revisit the Gold Coast

PROS

  • Its not like the other resort courses in the area
  • Great finishing holes

Cons

  • Slow slow greens
  • Tricked up short par fours

Played over the weekend on a 3 course trip from Sydney (also played the Glades and Hope). Definitely a tight well designed course. Greens were a little on the slow side. A very enjoyable day overall.

PROS

  • A golfers course. Very tight with lots of challenges.

Cons

  • Impossible to find yardage markers. Clubhouse facilies not very nice (lockeroom/shower)

play over easter weekend, the course was in great condition. i really enjoyed it, nearly every hole makes you think and plan. i appreciated the variety of holes. we played royal pines the day before and would much rather play Robina. it is tight in alot of places, and penalises wayward shots more than most courses i have played … but i would rank in my top 5

Played the course in early feb after all the rain so it was nice and lush.I think this is one of the best courses on the coast, with a great layout and some very different holes to the norm (on the coast). If you can avoid the woods of the tee you may still have a tricky shot to an elevated green. Great use of hazards and natural landscapes.Great service and course.

Played in Jan 2008, Great course! Was warned that it is a tough track that makes you think off the tee. Some very tight tree lined dog leg fairways, mixed in with some open driving holes made it a great experience. Great par 5 finishing hole!!

Played robina woods just after all the flooding rain that closed colonial the course we supposed to play that day. The course was tough due to the fact that they had not been able to get the machinary on due to the weather. This is agreat layout tight fairways heavy rough due to no mowing but agreat experience all the same. the greens are quick with plenty of break to keep you on your toes. I will be back to play this course again, cant wait to seehow it plays when they have been able to get it back to prime condition.

At last a Gold Coast golf course that can honestly call itself a Golf Course and not just another “Resort Course” This is without a doubt one of the best golf courses in Qld. The way it winds it’s way through the rain forest up, over and down the many hills and valleys creates some extraudinary views from the elevated tees and the challenges are just as varying. This is a must play course if you are visiting the Gold Coast.

PROS

  • Views, Layout & friendly members and staff

What a great golf course! It has so much variation between the holes with elevated tees, elevated greens, undulations, doglegs well placed hazards & beautiful layout.

This course meanders through a bush & rainforest setting with a many holes not running directly beside another hole. A pretty clubhouse, well equiped pro shop & a very friendly team of staff members as well.

Played here in Nov 07. Obviously a great course – as you would expect from a course of this standard. The pro shop is reasonably priced. Good food too.

Very scenic, set in a forest. Nice layout, with rough that won’t devour your ball, and not much water. So you shouldn’t lose too many balls.

One problem: very few distance markers on the course. How difficult is it to put distances on sprinkler heads? The only marker on most holes was the 150m stake, so most of the time was spent guessing what the distance was.

Played Robina Woods Oct 2006. What a fantastic course. You wouldn't believe your in the middle of the Gold Coast, with most holes surrounded in trees.

Fairways were lush, greens were in great shape. Excellent service and clubhouse.

The last 2 holes are absolute crackers. Nothing better than looking down the 18th to the clubhouse.

Do yourself a favour and have a round!

For an area that has more resort courses than you can poke a stick at, this is superb. Where it is not quite as good in the manicuring as the resort courses (it is still very good in that department), it more than makes up for in the course design. Instead of playing at the one elevation like a resort course, you are treated to many tee and green elevation changes which make the experience 3 dimensional instead of 2 dimensional. Fantastic!

Played Robina Woods in April 06 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The front nine wound its way through many interesting holes that from the back tees made for some very fantastic driving holes. The back nine started rather tamely but finished with a crescendo with two fantastic finishing holes in the par 17th all down hill to a narrow green and the 18th Par 5 that just sits there and says âÄúbring it onâÄ?. All in all a great experience and apart from the triple bogey on the last where I tried to go for the green in two and failed spectacularly I thought the course was an excellent lay out and in very good condition.

What a joy to play a golf course that wasn't just another "man-made" / flat / boring sculptured resort style golf course!

Robina Woods from the service at the golf shop to the cleansing beer in the bar afterwards lived up to its ranking one of the Top 25 Resort Golf Courses in Australia - certainly worthy of having hosted the Australian TPC some years back.

The front 9 wound its way through natural bushland with sloping greens testing all the shapes in the bag, while the back 9 was open at first then closed in to feature some spectacular elevated tee-shots and before the closing Par 5 18th played back towards their signature clubhouse.

I'll certainly be back next time I'm on the Golden "Golf" Coast...

Played at Robina Woods last week. Like all courses on the Gold Coast, I recommend early morning tee offs to avoid the crowds and the weather. Great set of holes to open the front nine. Good challenge for a high teens handicapper like myself, but was an enjoyable round all the same. Probably one of the better value golf rounds in the area.

A lot of people rave about Robina Woods. It's been a couple of years since I played it, but my memory of it was that I was a little disappointed, and feel there are a number of courses on the Gold Coast comfortably better than Robina.

The front nine is pretty, winding through the forest, but I found the green conditions less than ideal. The back nine is, other than the eighteenth, quite uninspiring, and I thought no different from an average parkland member's course.

It's certainly worthwhile a game at Robina if you are on a golf trip, but becalm your expectations and you'll enjoy it more. And if you've only got one day to play, I'd look elsewhere...

No trip to the Gold Coast would be complete without a game at Robina Woods. It is a course of 2 different nines. I just loved the way the front nine winds among the timber using the natural lay of the land to shape the holes.

The back nine starts a little more open and you encouter a bit of water before 2 great finishing holes. A down hill Par 3 and a great par 5. Watch out for the bunkers to catch your drive at the base of the hill.

It was great to enjoy a beer and watch the rest of the group come down 18. One the prettiest sights looking back up 18 you will encounter. I loved it.
