The Albury Golf Club is situated in the centre of Albury and boasts a superbly presented course which features a set of consistently wonderful greens regarded as the best in country NSW and is at least the equal of the majority of metropolitan clubs in Melbourne or Sydney.

The course presents a real challenge to championship golfers with its tree lined fairways and well placed bunkers, whilst allowing sufficient leeway for all standards to enjoy the layout. The cut fairways are more generous than some championship layouts.

This is an excellent summer course with the tree lined fairways giving the area soft shady atmosphere.

A club with a long history (founded in 1899) which has been pretty much ignored by the Commercial Club after they took over operation early in the last decade.

If you love a golf club which focuses on poker machines rather than golf then this will beright up your alley.

The course itself is probably the better of the two Albury courses in that positional play is a little more important than at Thurgoona and there is a greater variety of holes.

Very happy with the condition of the course. Fairways and greens were superb this time of the year. Hole locations were confusing as a first visitor. Had lots of fun and will be back soon.

Course has been closed for the last couple of weeks. Need a submarine to play it.

I can provide an update on the course and its current condition, having played it last week.

The nines appear to have been reversed, as it now finishes with a shortish par 4 to a very small green. The Par 3 is now the 10th.

The Riverina is gripped by drought, but Albury is standing up well. The kike fairways help, but the grass is still alive and mostly still green. The greens are in excellent condition.

Not a really top-notch course, but still an enjoyable game.

Albury Golf Club is a step back in time to golf course design from the 1950’s, with the exception being the newly-contructed par 3 18th.

Albury is a very good track, quite hilly near the end of the front 9, with some of the fastest sloping greens anywhere. The fairways are quite narrow in places, with large mature gum trees lining these fairways. Accuracy off the tee really is at a premium at Albury.

The shortish par 4 8th is a standout for me…elevated tee, fantastic views over Albury & the surrounding countryside, with the Snowy Mountains in the background. The 8th is an even better hole if you manage to knock it on the green & then 3-putt for par.

Nice tight layout with a good covering of trees, any constuction that was undertaken in the past is long finish on the course itself. The greens were lightening fast and a challenge to read. My favourite hole would have been the Par 4 16th, with the big pines to right of the fairway and a well placed fairway bunker to pull up the really big hitters and, a well sized relativly flat green compared to other greens on the coures.

One of the gems of the Murray region is the Albury Golf Course. The tight fairways and excellent greens make for a terrific challenge for all levels of golfer.

The third hole is a tight dog leg par 4 across the Bungambrawatha Creek which can make a break a round quite early on.

The 6th and 18th greens are the trickiest on the course with some incredible borrow. They can certainly catch out the unwary first timers and those bold putters who like to charge the hole.

The course is a credit to the green keeping staff.

Only 9 holes to play the rest of the course is under reconstruction. What we got to play was good, the greens could have been a little better looked after. Some long par 5's, Some good bunker placement.

When the course is finished it will be a top challenge!!

Comfortably the best course in Albury, and greens as good as any you'll find on the top courses in Sydney and Melbourne, this course is enjoyable for all types of golfers. It's generous fairways are lined by mature trees that rarely can be hit over, penalising inaccurate driving.

The greens are relatively small, but very true and fast, rewarding a good putter but accentuating the yips! The greens are bent grass I think, whilst most fairways are kikuyu, which withstands the summer heat best.

Not long by modern standards, it's a course where good play brings good scoring. Best time of year to play is mid-spring and autumn. Summer gets quite hot and in a dry year it makes for tough golf, whilst a wet winter leaves lower areas a little boggy.
