Played on 14 January 2011.

A pretty course with a good mix of short and longer par fours that require some thought off the tee. The par fives are good risk/reward holes, particularly the 13th hole.
The elevated tees on the first and the tenth holes encourage taking the driver out giving it a belt.

A fun, challenging and interesting game of golf.

I last played Asquith in June of 2010, after playing Junior Pennants there over 10 years ago. This course is very hilly and is kikuyu all the way, so plays much longer than the card suggests. Lots of elevated tee shots on offer here, the 1st, 7th, 9th, 10th, 12th, 13th and 16th to help the ego and are mostly par 4’s. A good water carry is on offer on the 13th for the second shot. Also a very cheaky, downhill and short par 3 – 13th at 115m is a teaser if you under or over hit the green. I definitely remember a few holes in my recollection of the course, but overly not all that difficult IMO.

Some criticisms were that I didn’t find the par 3’s all that strong, except for the long par 3, 3rd playing at about 185m. However some good par 4’s packed a strong punch, especially the 4th (that I double-bogeyed), 5th, 16th and definitely the 18th – hardest of the lot. I also found the 2nd (Par 4, 320m) a bit silly, with a large tree in the left-hand side of the fairway, 40m short of the green. This was almost as bad as the 17th hole at The Cut! Next time I’ll make sure I hit a BIG fade.

Asquith wasn’t that bad a course and I got good reciprocal access there with my home club, but I’d treck to other courses in the area such as Muirfield, Castle Hill, Avondale, Pymble or Oatlands if you want a better test/quality of golf course.

delightfull friendly place to play an open comp on a monday. The fairways are pristine if you hit ’em you’ll be guaranteed a great lie. A mix of holes with water and sloping fairways, very enjoyable. The greens roll true and are quite tricky to read.
It is a little up and down so if you have dodgy knees(like maself)they’ll need icing when you get home.

Asquith well worth a game. I have now played twice in their Wednesday comp in last twelve months and both times it has been excellent. Some interesting holes mixed in with some plain janes, and the newer holes on the back around the lake are a bit hit and miss.

Greens are very good, clubhouse excellent and the members i have played with both times have been terrific fellas.

well the greens arent slow anymore! played here last week ( august ) and the greens were rock hard and lighting quick. the course is in great condition. A bit of work going on around the 7th Fairway and a couple of holes have a blind tee or blind approach that i’m not a big fan of. stay out of the green side bunkers on the 1st & 10th. they are monsters. overall though there are some good challenges. the 13th is a great hole. easy to get on and friendly staff.

Went here about 2 weeks ago on a monday to play in comp. Good thing, it is the only course I have found with monday comps. The course is a nice, hilly layout, but very short and tight, like a lot of sydney courses. The fairways were very good, but the greens were cored, long and slow.

A group of 24 went to Asquith and the pro was very helpfull in getting us on. The course was very well kept with excellent greens. The elevated tee’s especialy the 10th give you the impression you have hit the ball for ever… We had a great day with the lowest hadicapper winning the day. The 19th hole was very comfortable and the staff very helpfull. We will certainly return.

Played the course in March 07. I really enjoyed the course.

The fairways are in very good condition with some minor areas that have not coped with the recent rains, being soggy under-foot.

Some greens needs some additional TLC to maintain consistancy but generally, they’re very true.

It is not a long course but each hole brings a different challenge. I found it hard when my driver failed me. Lesson learnt. Keep it in the middle and you’ll be fine. Otherwise, it’ll need a darn good recovery shot to give you an outside chance of saving Par.

I concur with the other reviewers thus far and can say that it’s the best public access course on the North Shore that I’ve played so far.

Only minor complaint was that they don’t take credit card for green fees. You’ll have to make sure you bring enough cash. I’ll be back for sure.

Measures 5540m Par 70 with 6 Par 3s ranging from 125-195m, 8 Par 4s with shortest 270m 2nd dogleg right with a tree guarding front green and longest 390m 18th index 1 uphill dogleg left, and 4 relatively 'easy' Par 5s ranging from 425-485m.

Course is in great condition with all developments including the first hole completed. I like the par 3s here, generally they offer some good challenges with elevated tees/greens with water. The 340m 6th with blind teeshot with water cut close to fairway along rightside to the green is the best challenge in terms of approaching the green on the outward nine - only bail out is short of green as bunkers is left, water on right.

Played here 17/11/06 with $35 green fees. Good clubhouse with friendly members. Course can be busy during weekdays too, due to its popularity. One of the better public access courses in Sydney.

Without a doubt the best public access course on the North Shore, Asquith provides a good test for all standards.

Substantial improvements have been made over recent years as a rsult of a development fund maintained by members: Most notably, a number of tee area have been completely re-built, new pathways and landscaping. Now a very pleasant place for hit.

Main challenges include:

-3rd: 190 m par 3 with water carry

-8th: Short uphill par 5. Have a lash!

-13th: Signature par 5 with water carry on second shot

-18th: One of the toughtest finishing holes around

Beware:

Greens can be very very quick!

Beautiful course imaginatively landscaped into the surroundings. Top condition all around today. Elevated tees provide good value tee shots, though one elevated tee is on a short par 3. Every hole is noticeably different to every other on the course - no boring repeats here.

A nice course in Sydney's far North... or is that the south of Newcastle... anyways. Some challenging holes, particularly one with a long water carry on the second shot. Condition was average when I was there, slightly rough fairways and boggy greens.
