Fairbairn has recently been opened up to the public after being restricted to airforce personnel. The course is nicely layed out with some short & long par 4, same with the par 3 and some very long par 5s. The fairways are in good condition considering the lack of water in the ACT region over last year or so. Most of the fairways are lined with large pines but there are plenty of gaps if you find yourself wayward. The bunkers are poorly drained and each time I have played after recent rains has meant that they turn it water hazards for a week or more. The greens are, to put it nicely, strange in appearance and there are plenty of faults/blemishes but they do play pretty true.
This course is not the best or even close but there are a few challeges to keep the interest. Cheap & cheerful.
Keep an eye out for the bunker on the 5th which is in the shape of Australia including Tasmania.
