Axedale is not an overly long course however it is an enjoyable course to play just the same. There are some wonderful short par 4's in the 3rd, 8th and 17th. The strongest hole would have to be the par 4 15th which is a dogleg left of some 400m in length. The tee shot needs to be struck with a right to left shape to set up a blind downhill 2nd to a green at the bottom of the hill. Overclub here and a creek is waiting behind the green to swallow your ball. The course is generally presented in good condition year round.

Axedale is worth travelling to play. I have played many courses in Victoria and Axedale compares favourbly to others in the region. Whilst short in length Axedale offers a great variety of holes in a very scenic location. The river and creeks have been used in a strategic way to enhance beauty and course management. The short par 4s are excellent as is the long par5 with the Campaspe river snaking all along the left hand side for over 500m. The par 4 15th is a ripper par 4 that moves slowly in an arch fashion to the left with the last 80m down a steep slope. The fairways are in good condition and the greens are relatively small so a proficient short game is neccessary to shoot well.
