Love playing this course every year. Yes,the 4 new holes at Barham have been a big success giving the front 9 an ideal blend of old and new. Yes, the par 5 2nd is a beauty (3 of the best are required to hit this in reg). As is the bunker surrounded par 3 3rd to test your distance control. Hole 4 brings you back to the old course and you know you’re on the Murray. The back 9 plays a tad short giving all golfers a chance to make birds on the 3 par 5s. If you’re on your game, this is your chance to come home like the proverbial house-on. Having said that there are still some fabulous long par 4s in holes 11 & 17….2 of my favourites. The smaller greens will no doubt challenge your shots coming in and your short game will need to be on the money. The long par 3 15th hole ruins my card every time. At 190 odd meters, the only safe zone is short and straight. If you don’t hit your irons a mile you’d be better off laying up (of course I never do). Take wood and spray it left or right and I can guarantee you’re looking at double.

I Totally agree with the above review. The 2nd is one the best par 5’s I have experienced. There is OB on right, water down left and Bunkers either side of not so wide fairway. It is defineately a placement hole with a large elevated green. This 18 handicaper has not yet reached the green in regulation, I try again in March. The third hole is a 190 odd par 3,elevated green with large bunkers either side. The signature hole on this Course is the 380m par4 5th.Straight Heavy Rivergum tree lined fairway tee to another elevated green.Protecting the front of green is the deepest and widest Sand Trap I have ever encounted about 30m accross and 10m vertical .A long tee shot is required to have a chance of taking on the Sand to reach in 2.A lay up is the go as many a Card has been ruined at this hole nicknamed Gallipolli.

Was always a "nice little course" on the Murray, but the addition of 4 new holes on the front 9 make this course close to the jewel in the crown along the mighty river. It's more of a challenge without being outrageously difficult - subtle changes, adding bunkers right in landing areas & bunkering existing greens. The new 1st offers a wide fairway, but the mid-iron approach is tricky, with sand at the front & water behind a wide, but very slick green. The rest of the course follows a similar pattern - you need accuracy, but if this 18-handicapper can scratch around it and have a ball, anyone can.
