You get a real sense of exclusion walking around the Barossa Valley Golf Club as any man-made sounds are few and far between except for when there’s a bit of traffic on the course. Characterised by excellent greens, the course is reasonably tough with areas where you simply will not find your ball.
The first hole doesn’t do the course justice though, and would perhpas be better if the course played with the back 9 first. The 10th being a short par 4 which rewards those that hit a straight ball with an easy second shot to a two-tiered green. However, going with the driver is risky as hitting it right can put you into one of those areas where balls aren’t often found.
The finishing holes are the first and second hardest meaning concentration for the full 18 is a must. I’m sure many rounds have been hurt by a poor finish here.
Barossa is a course that really rewards the straight hitters, and with excellent greens, generally good fairways and not a lot of noice, there’s plenty of enjoyment to be had while playing a round here.
