Friendly little golf course, where you get what you pay for. Currently holes 16-18 are out of play due to Vicroads realiging a road, due back about April.

Greens were good and rolled true although they certainly didn’t contain any complicated or difficult to read breaks. The fairways on the other hand had suffered a battering at the hands of some flooding it would seem after a rise of the Barwon river. large patches were bare and and others still soggy enough to qualify as casual water.

If it hadn’t been for the flooding/water damage. this would be a nice little course.

A well established course that falls short in the fairways and greens department.

I found at times I was punished after hitting good drives on to fairways that many golfers would consider the rough.

The greens on a whole are average but there is a few very questionable greens that have little grass in areas.

The roll is true but slower I found.

Probably a good course for the not so serious golfer.

Barwon Valley is a par 70 course which is bordered by the Barwon River. The course is currently undergoing a couch program so some holes have half a fairway in play. The main problem has been the fairways which can become almost bare in summer. There are many dogleg holes;the first has to be played with a 220m plus drive to have a look at the green. The greens are ok ,but are flat and not very interesting. Not many bunkers exist on the course. The course is on flat land and water comes into play on several holes.Highlight holes include the short par 4 4th with the river on the left and the 11th where your drive must thread between 2 water hazards. The hole then goes left to an elevated green. It is about a 440m par 5.Overall not a bad course located close to Geelong central.
