This is a great country course, undulating terrain, good use of dams and creeks and there is always a galery when hitting off the 11th with the prison next door. Big hitters can cause some excitement among the crowd by cutting the corner over the gaol on the short par 4. Members are a great bunch of blokes too.

PROS

  • Variety anf the greens

Cons

  • 3 horus from Sydney

A well laid out country golf course with plenty of space around each hole. The course is well maintained but the greens have been sanded recently making them inconsistent. I would have liked to see more hazards on the course with the water not really coming into play. A student round cost $13 so no complaints there. Friendly staff and wonderful views over the goal made it an enjoyable round.

Bathurst GC is an 18 hole championship quality layout in the home of the famous Bathurst 1000 supercar race. It has hosted NSW opens in the past and is a tough challenge for the average golfer.

Bathurst GC is a long, fairly straight down the middle type of course with plenty of tight fairways and some monster holes with a 520 m par 5 that plays uphill for the final half. The course can be demoralising for the player that does not hit straight as I found out during my first round there due to the length and a lot of sideway chipping to get out of trouble leaves a very long third shot to the green. If one is straight and long off the tee then this layout should present few problems.

The course is well manicured with average speed greens and very few bad lies in the fairways. It has a nice clubhouse and is close to the town. I recommend this course for players with handicaps <14.

Bathurst Golf Club is a very good golf course located in the central west of NSW. A long course with severaly challenging holes which help make an enjoyable experiences. The signature hole is probably the 10th, a long par 4 which runs parallel to the highway, with a slight dogleg to the left. Another favourite is the 525 metre long par 5 15th, which runs parallel with the other major highway and has a large uphill climb to a well protected green. The course also contains lakes which are well placed to challenge every golfer. The course also has very good clubhouse facilites which make for a great days golf.
