Beerwah Golf Club

Sunshine Coast, QLD | User Rating: Rate-3 (3.5) | Add A Review

Nestled at the base of the beautiful Glasshouse Mountains on the Sunshine Coast, the Beerwah Golf Club offers a golf course that will challenge the most avid golfers and please those out for an enjoyable social day.

Our 18 hole, par 72 course measures nearly 6000 metres in length and, owing to its level layout, can be walked comfortably by all ranges of age and ability.

As we border a State forest, the golf course is home to many species of birds and families of contented kangaroos which can often be found dozing in fairway bunkers.

Those more serious about their game will need to exercise good course management as a number of holes require strategy more than strength.

Nice course, friendly people, helpful staff, great wildlife, awesome surroundings. Well-worth the drive from Brisbane. Will be back.

Played on Monday with a group of older players. Course was ok but I struggle to see how it is rated 21st in Queensland. It is fairly boring and just a basic flat country course with few challenges.
The pro and bar staff were extremely helpful and nothing seemed too much trouble.

relatively easy course, fast greens make it harder to score well.

Great priced course and greens have been pretty good recently.
Can get a little congested and over crowded at times.
lies are scruffy with leaves, branches and easy to lose a ball where it should be easily spotted.
nice place to relax though, lovely views, Roo’s, Ducks and occasional carpet pythons and red bellied blacks have graced our rounds recently !
All in all , A nice place to be other than work !

PROS

  • staff are decent and friendly

Cons

  • gets busy and stop start golfing.

At 6089m, Beerwah is a lengthy course suited for any level of golfer. Some holes are straight up and down with bunkers guarding the green and others where doglegs and water can make you adjust your club selection. The greens are quick and consistent and some tricky to putt on. The overall presentation of the course is fantastic and if you’re lucky, a couple of local kangaroos can be spotted. Beerwah is comparable to the other public courses on the coast and well worth a hit.

A nice course and lookng forward to coming back next year and doing the whole 18 holes. We’ll miss that sneaky water hazard on the first hole next time!
It was hot and being at the end of a busy golfing holiday we could only manage 9 holes this time.
Friendly staff and a challenging course in good order.

Only chose to play there as we are on holidays on the Sunshine Coast and previous reviews were positive. Playing there on a Sunday…big mistake. Wouldn’t bother again as the course isn’t much better than Logan Golf Course and plagued by the same bogan hackers. Got through the first nine in 2 hours, but then a couple decided to jump in front of us even though we were waiting for 30 mins for the two foursomes we were following to clear the 10th hole.
It took 3 and a half hours to complete the back nine watching the male and female pairing who jumped in front spend between 40 to 50 seconds to hit each shot about 20 metres. My wife wanted to go back and get our money bak back but it at least gave us an opportunity to practice before playing at Pelican Waters the next day (that turned out to be a totally different experience for the same price).

I enjoyed my round there. Got around in three hours with a cart by myself. Friendly staff. Fairways were a bit damp after rain the previous day but good greens and tees.

Beerwah course is in great condition. It is a very flat course and looks quite easy but in reality is more challenging than it presents itself. Nice wide tees and good pin placement and open fairways, just keep your concentration up.

We played in the rain. The course held up really well. The greens were fantastic best i have seen in a while. Fast but true. ground staff were very helpful, we forgot to get buckets as it was raining heavily at te time. We asked a greenkeeper on the 1st green about getting some sand buckets. They were waiting for us at the next tee. Highly recommend.

Played in the morning and thoroughly enjoyed the round. Friendly pro shop staff, green keepers and other players. Overall the course was in great condition, the greens were fast with some variation between them but that did not detract from an enjoyable morning. We will play again.

After playing a few courses on the coast, it is a relief to be able to walk around a flat course. It is a challenging course for a social player but hats off to the pro shop, great organisation of the tee times and always friendly. As all the other staff and members that we met, weel done first class day.

I recently joined during their membership drive and for the $388 to join (with 6 months membership) and then approx $580/yr thereafter, I think this very nice & friendly country course offers great value for money.
All the people I have met there have been very friendly, as have the staff.
The course itself it very relaxing, with some easy looking holes that are more challenging that they first appear. Straight drives are a must on about half the holes, and the others you can really unleash without too much trouble. Small fast greens hold pretty well, and pin placements can make putting difficult unless you have a straight uphill putt.
I really enjoy playing here and look forward to many games here.

Nice course with a fair amount of difficulty.Pro shop staff were friendly and helpful.Quite dry which made it a little less scenic than it probably could have been but thats mother nature. Greens were very slick and some quite difficult which made for a challenge.Definitely will play again.

Played yesterday very grey sky over head rained all the way there got out of car stopped raining till 11th hole. rained for about 5 minutes then gone.
Young bloke in the pro shop could not have done anything more for us towel to wipe cart seat and nothing was a problem.
Course in good nick after the amount of rain & warmer conditions. A fair amount of work being under taken new tee boxes and watering being done.
Pleasant day had s=== round but that’s the nut driving those things ( I mean clubs).
19th hole the best young bloke behind bar made the experience that much better.

I’ll stand an applaud this golf course. THE friendliest service I’ve ever come across for a club – always a nice way to start the day. Given how dry it’s been, I won’t be harsh about the fairways being a bit dry and bare. But the condition of the tees and the greens were superb!! Flat, well grassed tee’s are a big tick in my big – MASSIVE tick here. Smooth rolling greens made the best of my dodgy putting. And quick for greens that had some overnight rain. I really rate this course very highly, and will not hesitate in heading back for another round. Hope I start better than triple, bogey, par, double next time though – cause the rest of the round was 1-under from there.

PROS

  • Wonderful tee boxes
  • Perfect rolling greens with good speed
  • Friendly service
  • Peaceful course

Cons

  • Currently a little brown on the fairways - forgive them for the lack of rain

Played Beerwah on 8th Dec 2009. Course in good condition. Greens were very slick but why wouldnt they be with all the hot weather and strong winds.A very flat course with lots of forgiveness for the week end hacker. Great service all round and a very enjoyable day. Well worth the 30 bucks for 18.

Played yesterday at Beerwah, and we had a very pleasant round of golf, would have to agree with the majority of comments here. The course was in excellent condition with recent rain greening up the fairways. It was very hot and windy so the greens were very slick, but the ball held when the right approach shot was played into the green.

if you see the green keeper aound this course, buy him a beer or two. played today after several days of rain, and while the fairways were still quite soggy, there were in great nick, but the greens were as good as any i’ve ever seen. the scenery around the course is great also. the view from the fairway to the 10th green is superb, with the tall timber in the background. Not a super tough course, but still challenging. I was told by a member that holes 11 to 15 can make or break a round. they broke mine!

all in all though, great value, great course and i will be going back many times.

Played beerwah today and would have to say it’s a really good course. It wouldn’t be to hard for a hack like me to get around without getting a total blowout of a score and is more than capable of challanging a lower handicapper. The fairways were near perfect and the greens were in even better nick. If you weren’t on the fairway though the rough was exactly that.

The people behind the counter were very friendly and we saw the drinks cart quite alot during the round which was great because it was stinking hot.

I have recently become a member at Beerwah after looking at other courses north of Brisbane. The thing that won me over was the very friendly staff and members, along with the condition of the course. The clubhouse staff and facilities were great which was a bonus for a reasonable yearly membership fee. The course itself was great even with the greens being cored earlier, and despite being quite flat it offered enough challenges. I enjoyed the front 9 better than the back. The reason being is the long 11th and 17th holes bordered a forest which I tended to find. I look forward to improving my handicap playing each weekend surrounded by great views and with happy members.

Beerwah would have to be the best course around (north of Brisville) It supplies a few challenges during play – the greenkeeper/s do a magnificent job – early april is coring or sanding which is a pain but the other times the course is brilliant – they have just extended the par 5 15th which was an relative easy birdie hole for the lower handicap but not now – practice range and nets are available and the practice putting green is consistant with the 18 during play after 9am – before then the game greens play a little slower.. Beerwah greens and fairways would have to rate up there with the best in Brisbane. Around 6000 metres and a par 72

Played this today teeing off at around 7.30am.

Made good use of the quality practice green and practice nets while waiting for the tee off.

At first, the dew was slowing down the greens but that lifted at around the 3rd-4th hole. After that the greens were very fast. The course was in a great condition. There is a GUR on the 11th hole and the 11th hole does need some attention as the some of the fairway grass is getting long (it was obvious that it was not rough).

The 10th fairway could be 20 metres wider otherwise you have to hit a good 250-300 STRAIGHT bomb to have a look at the green in regulation.

Otherwise just look out for the tricky dogleg 13th and some rolling greens. Good course for the hacker but does throw up a challenge for the more seasoned golfer as well!

4 out of 5 stars for what it is!

This is one of the best scenic course with virtually no buildings in sight. Superb environment to play early in the morning.

Condition of the course is superb and the layout of this course challenges players to have a go at the green. It's a "no guts no glory" course IMO.

This may not be the best course around like terryyoungw said below. But considering the value POV, I rate this 5/5. No doubt there are many better courses in terms of condition, scenary, difficulty, etc, but for many who don't like to pay big bucks for a round, this is the course of superb value.

Over all 5/5 for Beerwah. Highly recommended.

I wish people would be realistic. Come on to give a country course like Beerwah a 4 or 5 is ridiculous. 5 is the highest so where does Royal Melbourne and the like go? This is a good honest course always lush as it is in a rain belt. It rates truthfully around 2 and 1/2 to 3 stars. It is very flat and average length. The main challenge is the greens which are small and shaped like upside down saucers. Definetly worth a look.

Played on 30 March 2005 after they'd recently sanded the greens but the greens were still true and fast, despite the club not having put the low mower back on them.

A number of lovely short par 4 dogleg holes, cut the inside of the corners at your peril. The only down side of the doglegs is that they are almost all left to right, rather than encouraging a mixture of shot making strategies.

The rough on the first 9 is less severe than on the second 9.

No standout holes but just a consistent test of shot making. An excellent country course in very good condition.

I recently had the pleasure to play this course and found it to be quite enjoyable. Not too hard and definately not too easy. Fairways were good and the greens were pretty true. A lot of OOB which keeps you on your toes and makes you think about choosing the driver off the tee every time which is a good thing.

One sour note though, our group got hassled by some old bloke you never introduced himself to us as we went around about being too slow. We did play 18 in 4 hours though. We assume he was a committee member so that lowered our rating from very good to good.

32. andrew14966 | Rated | 26 Dec 2002 | Add A Review

Nice course, but short which cuts the challenge down.

Smallish green mean you need to take care with your approach shots, but most of the approach shots are wedges, so if you strike the ball reasonably well you should have no problems.

I have bettered my handicap (6) on each of the 4 times I have played there.

Everyone makes beerwah out as an easy taking but no one ever comes and shoots the lights out. Tricky drain placement, small and fast greens, just a touch of concentration lost due to our beautiful wildlife make this equal to anywhere, you will love it as I do.
