Bowen Golf Club was established in 1928 and over the years has earned the reputation of being a “hidden golfing gem”, nestled along the Whitsunday coast waiting to be discovered by golfing enthusiasts and visitors alike. Bowen is renowned as a very friendly club and the clubhouse facilities provide the ideal surroundings for the relaxation and enjoyment of members and guests.

The fantastic 9 hole, 18 tee, links style seaside course is laid out over 5836m, that is both rewarding and challenging to golfers of all levels. There is reward in just walking around this beautiful course, a green oasis in an at-times dry and arid area. Combined with this the challenges that come with Mother Nature and the strong winds she provides having the fairways running parallel with the coastline. It makes it both picturesque and an ever-changing challenge.

The Clubhouse is open Tuesday to Sunday for all to enjoy the relaxing environment. A well stocked bar, light background music and television enhance your entertainment experience. But the biggest drawcard is the Clubhouse Deck that looks out over the 9th hole and the Whitsunday coast – a serene and enjoyable experience all of its own.

The Restaurant is open for buffet style dining on Friday nights, and a Seafood Smorgasbord once a month; both available  throughout the winter season.
We also cater for functions and conferences from as small as 6 people to as large as 200 people.

Our Club Professional, Carl Van Veen has a range of golfing equipment and services including tuition, club repairs and storage, buggy storage and hire equipment. The Pro Shop co-ordinates the entry process and starts the field for most club competitions. Open seven days a week from 7am, the Pro Shop is always on-hand to help you with any of your Golfing queries or needs.

This is a great little course. The greens are very good and kept in top condition. Club pro Carl Van Veen is a nice guy and very helpful. Everything is well maintained. Well worth a play! 4.5 stars.

Loved playing up at Bowen. Located on the beach the walk around the course is enough as it gives truely spectacular views. The course difficulty is really dependant on the wind on a still day, stay off the beach and you will score well. If the wind gets up then so will the score.

Survive the first with bogey and then the rest should be OK.

Holes 1&2… They can really hurt if you flirt with the beach.

PROS

  • Top Location. Beach-side!

Cons

  • Wind can play a major factor!

Situated at the top of the Whitsunday Islands, Bowen is a haven for the fishing enthusiest as well as the golfer with Laguna Whitsunday only one hours drive south, a sensational holiday can be take around this beautiful part of the world including fishing, golfing, or just lazing on one of the beaches.

The opening holes of the Bowen course can determine your scorecard for the round with the 410m Par 4 1st either playing wind assisted or into a blowing northerly. The 210m Par 3 3rd is predominately played into the strong south-easterly breeze along with the 390m Par 4 4th, but the delicacy of the 132m Par 3 9th playing back towards the beach and ocean with the breeze having a huge bearing on your shot selection.

The 10-18 tees have been located giving a totally different approach to the previously played 1-9 creating a truly challenging 18 holes of golf.
