Brighton Public Golf Course is regarded as one of Melbourne’s best Public golf Courses, and regularly ranks in the Top 5 of Melbourne’s metropolitan public courses. Our location is one of our greatest assets – situated an easy 20 minute drive from the CBD, and in the heart of one of Melbourne’s most exclusive Bayside suburbs.
It is an all weather course catering to the average golfer, yet still provides a good test of golf for the more skilled. The holes are generally tight, and many greens are ringed by some of the best bunkering you will find on a Melbourne public golf course. This feature of the course bears testament to the fact that Brighton truly is a member of Melbourne’s famed sand-belt.

Played recently after playing for the first time in the middle of last summer. The difference in the fairways is amazing, a totally different course. While not the longest or toughest course played, it certainly makes for an enjoyable round with a couple of challenging holes.

Not looking very good right now with very dry fairways. Greens and tees are watered which is good. Course is challenging in parts but overall good for the beginner. There are better public courses out there for the same money or slightly more.

Pretty badly hit by the drought at present. The puff of dust helps see the landing spot! Don’t knock it – it is a public course and had given plenty a start.

As others have mentioned this is a pretty gentle course that gives you a chance to work on things other than long hitting. There are more par 3’s than average and the par 4’s are short, so for a beginning or average golfer it’s a good place to work on your game.

If you are in need for some self esteem or just looking to generally give your golf ego a false sense of security, come on down to Brighton! Bar a couple holes, this is definitely a course for the ‘flat track sally.’ The par 3’s are short and unhazzardous, the greens are flat and unchallenging, the fairways are straight and the tree lines riddled with obliterated buggy’s (probably due to golfers releasing their frustration at the simplicity of the course).
To sum up Brighton straight from Lady Daiwa herself, it was ‘way to easy!!!’

After debuting at the infamous Brighton – I don’t get the feeling I will be returning untill I have lost 90% mobility in my shoulders and am manoeuvring the course in an electric buggy – it’s just too short!
Don’t get me wrong, the staff were extremely courteous and the course in great condition for a hackers track… BUT there is something a little unrewarding about having nothing short of FOUR par 3’s that require a lightly struck wedge (even for Lady Daiwa!) and a plethora of straight, mundane, driveable par 4’s.
Mediocre sausage rolls, over-zealous birds, rock hard sand and groups who’re not yet accustomed with the concept of yelling “FOUR” contributed to an average golfing experience.
Looks like it’s back to the BAT for the Green Machine!

Hmmm, reading some reviews giving 5 stars and 4 stars for “Royal Brighton” really doesn’t leave much room for good courses. The course is very easy and on a slightly busy day, don’t expect to get around in under 5 hours. The greens are average at best although the fairways are OK (except in extreme weather). The best hole is the 18th.

I am a regular player at Brighton Public Golf Course, and every time I play i feel that i am playing on a fantastic course. Although it is not overly challenging, it is always great for a casual 9 or 18 holes. The front 9 is long, but a long, straight drive will see you through the long par fours, and consistent irons will get you through the tricky par threes.
The back 9 is always some fun to play, not least because of its number of par threes. Birdies are very attainable, particularly when the pin placements are kind, and the par threes (particularly the 11th hole and the 14th hole) are mercifully short and easy to negotiate. The finishing hole is the only par 5 of the course, which takes a dogleg left turn. For the bigger hitters, making it over the corner and onto the other side fairway is always a challenge, but it is achievable.
Brighton is a great course for everyone, experienced or otherwise.

We haven't played this for a while as it is hard to get groups on on a sunday. Nevertheless we managed to get a booking for 12 at 9.30. Be prepared to wait on every hole at the tee anyway. Fairly short course with lots of short 4s and par 3s. They seemed to have thinned out a lot of the rough which unfortunately means a lot of stray balls on the wrong fairways and every second group has someone on a mobile phone. I got in 8 bunkers but in a new record got out of each in one. They are either as hard as a rock or good sand. Pig in a poke really. Reasonably slow greens for a sandbelt course. Good course if you have time or just play the back 9 and head down to Khyatts for a pot afterwards.

The summer conditions have turned this course a little dusty...however, the tree-lined avenues of fairways are superb. The fairways seem to be grassed in a all-round blend of grass which is usually good except in extremes of weather.
First tee-off in the morning in winter is the magic time for this course...the crisp air, the birds just waking up, first tracks through the dew on the greens. Brighton at it's best, no doubt about it.
Playing the 18, the second hole is a par 3 after a fairly quick par 4...it is usual to see a traffic jam at this hole. The 12th is outrageously short requiring a wedge off the tee...and then everyone's favourite, the Par 3 15th with that house at the end with all that glass! Tempting to bring out the driver.
Just needs some practice nets to warm up in before you head out on your round to make it really great.
