This course has a terrific layout in my opinion, greens are in fantastic condition (apart from 2 which need some work on the edges) and pretty consistent. They have water now so fairways which were severely affected by the drought are on the mend well and truly. With a bit of an overhaul, ie some bunkers and a bit more time for the fairways to heal completely this course would be an absolute ripper.

Even without any bunkers, course management is the key to a round here, have to land under the hole on certain holes namely the par 4 2nd and par 3 11th otherwise you are looking at nightmare downhill putts, that can easily roll off, be wary on the 8th and 16th with certin pin placements. Miss to certain sides or behind some greens and you are tryng to lob out of thick grass with the grain against you.

On the par 5 1st you need to hit to the middle and left of the fairway, go too far to the right and you have to work the ball as there are trees blocking the slight dogleg right hole. On the par 5 10th there is the dam on your right, hug the left of the fairway as the fairway slopes down to the dam quite severely.

There are 3 short par 4’s whic give you a good chance at scoring well, the 6th doglegs to the right, big hitters can take on the clump of trees where the dogleg is but hit that clump and you’re in trouble. An easy lay up to the clump will leave you a 90-110 wedge in. The 7th is 277metres from a low tee hitting over couple of ponds before the elevation, this can be a daunting tee shot with the trees on the left coming into play on a certain tee placements. The 15th is 260 metres downhill that doglegs sligtly right, hitting the green in 1 is a realistic chance. Just be careful of the shank as the left is OOB and the boundary merges the closer you get to the green.

Overall there is a good atmosphere with members being by and large a friendly easy going bunch. Great place to have a hit

A hidden gem in the hilly areas that surround. The course is kept in exceptional condition considering its usage….not much. I love the challenging driving options (that make you think about Driver or 4 iron), the golf facilities, the generous car-park, the classy greens and the wonderful walk. As a member of the world-class Heritage Golf and Country Club, I am happy to bring mates to this course for a challenging shorter course. I love it !!!

Played on this loverly country course at the w/end (18/09/06).Course is in very good condition considering the lack of rain .The greens are in excellent condition and the fairways are well grassed. The 15th&17th greens are being renewed so temps are a bit hard but wont be long before they are in use .Overall a very pretty course with some loverly views . Very quite and easy to get onto at weekends .

Broaford is a nice layout and a quiet course to play. Unfortunately when I played this course in Jan some of the greens were in poor condition due to the dry weather. The course overall is very dry and this is a shame because it is a fine layout with some nice views as you climb up the hill on the back nine. The greens generally are not interesting and there are no bunkers so approach shots are not too challenging. The fairways were ok with thick couch on most of the holes. Some of the holes are a challenge particularlythe first which is 521m bending to the right. The fifth is played from an elevated tee and bends to the left. The short uphill 11th has a nice feel to it as does the 10th a 455m par 5 which goes to the right with water ever present on the right where your tee shot lands. The 15th is only 260m and one can go directly at the green over the trees on the right to have a rare eagle putt. The course has potential to be very good layout with greenside bunkering and a complete overall of the greens. If someone pumped some money into this course it would be a ripper. That could happen as it is only 75 km from Melbourne and there appears to be plenty of residental development happening in Broadford.
