This course boasts one the best set of greens in WA. A very attractive course with hundreds of kangaroos lazily grazing on the lush greens and surrounds.

The course consists of 18 holes with grass greens and fairways and is set on relatively flat terrain surrounded by an abundance of Tuart, Jarrah, Banksia and Peppermint trees.

Capel is home to Major Annual Events such as the Capel Open, Summer Cup, Easter Medley, Mineral Sands Cup, Capel Cup and the Capel 3000.

The course was easy to walk and in very good condition. The greens were very quick and smooth up there with the best I have played on. Was a relaxing afternoon with the abundance of Roos about and in all a very enjoyable course to play.

We played at Capel at the end of March. The course was in an immaculate condition with greens so perfectly smooth and manicured that we were almost afraid to step upon them!
Full credit to the superintendant for his tender loving care and attention to detail.
As we meandered from tee to tee, we were delighted to watch the kangaroos and see many birds in the very well trimmed trees. A few particularly sweet spots to be enjoyed.. as the club kissed the ball…and not a spot of clover in sight, unlike a nearby course I have seen.
Capel is a very special place and one that I hope to soon visit again after sampling a taste of what it has to offer and well worth the journey south from Perth metro.

Played this course over Easter, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, will be back for sure. True it does lack a little character with holes on the back 9 running alongside each other but it more than made up for that with the superb condition it was in. From Tee to Green it was in immaculent condition, the tees being flat and well grassed, the fairways were awsome and the greens fairly quick with a true ball roll.
Well worth the visit.

This is quite a dull layout and wasn’t in good condition when we played it. Just about all the holes run up and back in opposite directions, so they tend to merge into each other. The fairways and green surrounds were very thin on our visit, with virtually no grass in them, so it was difficult to get a reasonable lie. The $35 green fees could be better spent at other courses nearby. It is a straightforward walking course, but doesn’t stack up with others in Busselton, which is 30 km away.

One of the best golf courses in the south west region great fast greens and nice green fairways it is definatly worth every bit of the green fee. Brilliant

if your not good at sand traps then capel is a pleasant course to play as the bunkers are very forgiving. Kangaroos are often lounging on the greens and can often get in the way of your approach shot, however the friendly atmosphere and picturesque surroundings make up for the flaws in the course. Capel is good for a quick round due to its forgiving landscape and relatively easy rough.

PROS

  • forgiving bunkers

Cons

  • kangaroos

Capel is indeed a lovely course to stroll around. Forget the cart and enjoy the place.

Greens are lightning fast and make you think hard. Fairways wide enough to be forgiving yet you still need to plan ahead.

Bunkers were consistent the whole way around which is a big plus.

Locals more than friendly towards travellers:)

Situated on the Bussell Highway, 15 kilometres South of Bunbury or 11 kilometres North of Capel.

Web site: http://www.capelgolfclub.org.au/main.htm

Website has picures of every hole from green to tee (2 or more snaps). One of the most comprehensive golf club websites I have seen.
