I played her XMAS eve and although busy did not have an issue getting around in required time. It does help being quite a short course, but don’t let this fool you.
In short a reasonably tight course with a lot of trees put in the right spot. Short rough and fairly flat greens make it easy to control your score blowout, however enough of a challenge for the average golfer.
Enjoy this course for what it is. A good quality inexpensive public access golf course.
PROS
- A tight golf course
- Nice surrounds
Cons
- Not challenging enough for the serious golfer
- Prone to the usual hard sand and slow greens

The Vikings Capital Golf Club situated in the beautiful city of Canberra is an ideal course to test your skills. Lush green fairways lined with plenty of trees and water hazards along with greens that at times test the best of them certainly will ensure you enjoy every moment of your round. This course has improved tenfold in the last 2 years and can only get better.

The Capital Golf Club is located just south of the city of Canberra, and provides a good days golf at a reasonable price. When I played this course the fairways and greens were looking excellent and playing well. This is easily the cheapest course close to Canberra but you wouldn't know it from its quality.
There are plenty of trees to catch those sliced or hooked drives, but a general lack of undergrowth makes recovery (provided you play conservatively) a pretty easy task. Most greens have at least one bunker and there is plenty of water throughout the course. Even so, there is nothing to daunting for the average golfer.
From some of the tees there are excellent views of the surrounding areas, but in other areas you feel miles from anywhere when all you can see are the trees.
The lush fairways, good variety of holes, many challenges and good value for money will make you feel like playing another round the following day. Just don't get lost trying to work out where the next tee is.

Very popular public course, that is well maintained. With a lot of the holes either bordering water or OOB an untidy shot can be penalised but generally a relaxing and satisfying round will be experienced. Suffers a little from those that have no regard for Golf Etiquette, which is a usual bane for a friendly and inexpensive public course.

Capital Golf Club, located in Canberra, is a good to average golf club for the social golfer. The fairways are average and the greens are quick. PLay at capital if you are looking for an pleasant time.

A really nice little course in the rare event you are allowed a decent round. Even for a public course, it has appalling etiquette. I have lost count of the number of rounds I have had to abandon after taking up to 30 minutes a hole because of slobs in jeans and rugby tops, driving carts and drinking beer, stuffing around and paying no regard to others on the course. Despite living just around the corner from the course, I only go there now when desperate. Nothing a course marshal would not fix but have never seen one.
