Measures 5591m Par 72 with four par 3s ranging from 128-177m, ten par par 4s ranging from 268-387m and four par 5s ranging from 437-480m. Course is tree-lined both sides of fairways with a few doglegs, not too slow grass greens and 19 sand bunkers with mostly good fairways with some areas of dirt patches.
Holes here have a bit of variety with only 7 bunkerless holes and a few gentle slopes and doglegs. There are about five par 4s less than 325m in length with mostly doglegs and all but one par 5 is less than 445m in length so the course is quite hospitable to the less frequent golfer.
Holes worthy of mention include: the 128m 2nd (rated the easiest hole) with 4 bunkers protecting the green, the 387m 4th (rated the most difficult) doglegs right and slightly downhill to the dogleg corner then slightly goes uphill to a green protected by 2 shortside bunkers, the 343m 16th is a straight hole to a bunkerless green but is a slightly narrower driving hole with OOB left of the treeline and a lateral water hazard right of the treeline, the 480m 18th is a slight uphill straight hole with OOB left of the treeline to a bunkerless green.
Played here 19/11/2010 with $15 green fees. Located about 4km out on the south-western edge of town on the corner of the Glenelg Hwy (B160) and Casterton-Penola Rd (C198).
As far as Par 72 layouts go Casterton is very short, but as nearby Coleraine & Merino are sand greens the nearest 18-hole grass layout is 45 minutes away in Hamilton, this track is not too bad at all for a town of about 2000 people.
