Solid layout with deceptive little tests along the way. Great fairways very good greens considering they hadn’t been cut for nearly a week due to the wet conditions, so when cut I’m 100% positive they will play beautifully. With recycled water now available and the dedication of the volunteer members, this course will only get better.

The locals were great and extremely hospitable. Give the club a call and take a social club up the road YOU WON’T REGRET IT.

Castlemaine is a really good course, and green all year round now. Their newish greens are great to play and it poses its challenges without the hills making it a plesant round of golf. Enjoy playing there.

Played,Castlemaine recently, and what a wonderful suprise it turned out to be.Very green because of the recycled water and a true test for any golfer on a challenging layout .By far the best course I have played in the central victorian region. My understanding is that it is only going to keep improving with the recent aquisition of recycled water and newly built greens.A go-ahead club with friendly locals.

obviously the last review was done by a Mt.Alexander member..What a joke of a comment…Mt Alexander has no course, no grass, about 22 full members, about 12 sand greens mixed with weeds, no staff, clubhouse is never open that’s why it’s cheap..you just walk on. To even compare Castlemaine to Mt Alex…you’d have to be a fruitloop.

Anyway Castlemaine is looking really good at the moment july09. Just had a very successful May tournament over 400 players.

Both 9’s are in excellent condition. You start out across the road with a lazy par 5 with o.o.b. all down the left side.

Then you stride up to the 2nd tee & see the glorious huge 150meg dam filled to the top with the precious recycled water & you can see Castlemaine will be the course to play while the drought keeps going.

The course is lucky it has fairways and greens, because it has nothing else. The layout is very generic and dose not pose any real challenge. The front 9 accross the road is very poor but the back nine is quite pleasent and leaves a good impression. Mt Alexander more beautiful course and is cheaper to play and its closer to the town!
