fun little 9 holes to play, most holes r pretty tight so accuracy is the main play here. favourite hole would be the par 3 4th hole 150m approx. standing on the tee looking down at the hole surrounded by deep bunkers and thinking i must land this shot on the green. cheltenham has all the signature sand belt features which gives its charm. cheap to play for standard of course and area i always enjoying a quick 9 around here.

Cheltenham is a good little course it is a sand bely course and fun to play at. The 17th is a big 406m par 4 and if into wind a very hard hole. It might be short but makes up for it with very steep bunkers on lots of holes.

cheltenham golf course, where geoff ogilvy started his golf is a great place to have a hit around, play in a competiton and have a drink and a game of snooker in the bar afterwards, each hole brings its own challenges and the course is short but extremerly narrow. The best weapon to have at this course is accuracy and a good iron game. There is great oppurtunity for young kids with junior clinics during the holidays, the junior pennant team is ver successful and chelt is one of the best public courses around. With its cheap fees and great location cheltenham is a great place to be during the holidays, there is a buzzing, vibrant atmosphere and it is a great place to be a junior member at. The people there are great so come on down!

If you suck up to the pro you can sometimes play the second 9 off the back tees which makes it interesting. 8th hole has been lengthened by the purchase of land from Victoria GC. Newly renovated clubhouse is friendly for a quiet ale afterwards. Secret to this course is stay straight or you could find yourself in a. tee tree. b. a cemetery. c. a footy ground. d. a house. e a soccer ground. f. a dam. g. Victoria golf club.

Plenty of bunkers as well so a good drive is needed on most holes to set up the second shot. Reasonably priced and quiet very early as a lot of the locals play the "great courses".Word of warning. Do not hook anything on the first seven holes and do not slice on the last 2.

One hard to find course snuggled in amongst other greats such as Victoria, Royal Melbourne and Sandringham, this little 9 hole is quite a treat. Now I don't know whether my new swing I'm grooving in has anything to do with it, but I found that this course plays very short and I found the greens a little on the small side. I also found that the entrance from Park Street is not the real entrance - you have to come in up Victor Ave off Weatherall Road...DOH!

The first tee provides a commanding view over the fairway which drops off into a valley from the tee and up the other side to the green. The middle of the fairway is guarded by a great big half-dead tree to give you something to aim at. The fairways are well manicured and a pleasure to walk on.

The second and third tees are simple par 4 dog-legs.

The fouth hole is a tricky 150m or so par 3 with the tee commanding a view over not much that you want to hit apart from the green. I was the last person on the course when I played and was held up behind a slow group of 4...so the tip here is to sneak back over to 2 and play those 3 holes again!

The fifth hole is a great place to let rip with a long par 4. Though you must be careful to check for kids that think a fairway is a great place to play football! The fairway runs alongside a popular football oval, most of the fairway is not visible from the tee and you can see the green way off down near Weatherall Road under the massive pine trees.

The sixth hole is very picturesque with some very good landscaping around and a short 120m pitch from the tee.

The seventh hole is interesting. Take a note of the lie of the fairway when transitioning from the 4th green to the 5th tee. The "bonging" noise you hear from time to time is the bell that has been rigged up at the corner of the dogleg on 7 to advise the people on the 7th tee that it is clear to tee off. I didn't pay attention to the length and took an 8 iron to the top of the hill and found myself with another 8 iron to get to the corner at the bottom of the hill with the bell.

At this point the light gave out and I pitched the ball past the side of the green with the slow moving foursome and into the carpark and headed home.

The last 2 holes look like they're very straight and somewhere to open up the with the drivers.

All in all quite a scenic course that plays a little slowly but who's watching the clock? The practice green and nets are very welcome and I wouldn't knock back a suggestion to play there again. I recommend playing it at least once for it's unique character.
