The West Course has an equally challenging design as the East course and is framed beautifully by lofty river red-gum eucalypts. It has a contrasting and yet spectacular character of its own providing golfers with a refreshing choice.

An added emphasis on water hazards and tending to be more open and sweeping, the West Course also features large inspirational greens, creative bunkering, and stimulating undulations. The greens are delightfully maintained and presented – an absolute pleasure to play on.

Played here again for the Easter tournament (2012). Couse was in better nick this year than last. Fairways had plenty of grass. Greens were a little bit slower on this course than on the Old course, but ran true.

having played this course at the same time last year we disappointingly played this course after 2 terrific days play at Tocumwal as it was included in a weekend package. we played the old course last year so we were looking forward to playing the west course. Sadly – they really haven’t looked after it that well and we landed about 2 weeks after they’d cored the greens so it was just a crap experience that we had to pay full price for.
It certainly felt like we’d been taken for a ride.

west course is longer than the old course and some say its more challanging but its more open and flatter. green condition and bunker placement and general layout to me just makes it just better than the old course. played the course after a hot week for the region so the fairways were not in top condition but i imagine during the cooler months they would be great. cobram barooga offers great packages to play the 2 courses and group of us took advantage of it and wasn’t dissapointed! favourite holes on the west course 1,5,6,7,10,14,16, and 17.

The West course is truely the championship course and is a true test of golf. Every time I've played it the course has been well maintained and the layout is exciting and challenging.

Play the old course but test yourself on the West course

The features I like about the west course and the layout and variety of holes, and the (usually) fantastic greens. Being still young in years, it will gradually develop more character as the trees continue to grow towards maturity. Strategy wise, there is nothing much to it other than keep it straight off the tee. But the variety in the length, shape and terrain of the holes certainly keeps things interesting. It is quite a long course so you'll need to bring your best game with you to score well. The only downside is that intermittently in the past the course has suffered from a lack of maintenance. Check it out before you play.

I've played here a few times, and enjoyed it generally. A couple of times, admittedly during a dry spell, the club had let it go a bit in terms of maintenance. This left the greens tufty and unpredictable, and some of the fairways were not in great nick.

Nonetheless it is a good layout, with a mix of longer and shorter challenges. A bit of water on the back nine, and some well-placed bunkers to get you interested.

I like the short fifth, a medium-length par 3 hit up to an elevated green, where being short means the ball rolls back half way to you, left or right is in bunkers and long threatens the out of bounds fence. The green's quite large so it's not as hard as it sounds, but it is quite an attractive hole to look at, and requires a sound iron shot.

The seventh gives the longer hitter the option of cutting the right hand dogleg, albeit risking the well-placed bunkers designed to make that option all the more risky.

You may well see kangaroos on the back nine; best not to challenge any lying in the shade as I've found out once before...

Good finishing holes on both nines - attractive straight par 4s requiring accuracy and rewarding length.
