Thirty-six exciting holes sculptured with natures assistance, are a delight, not only to the golfing connoisseur but also the novice. The famous Old Course is a traditional work of art where magnificent fairways are framed by majestic redgum and pine trees, with fast and true greens providing a great finishing touch.

The modern West Course is a superb contrast, with wide sweeping fairways, strategically placed bunkers, occasional water to add a splash of variety and undulating large greens, all combine to form a fabulous landscape of golfing pleasure.

Played again here for Easter tournament 2012. Green speeds seemed different between the two courses this time, with the Old course having faster greens than the West. Both courses had plenty of grass on the fairways. Courses were in better condition this year than last.

Played here over Easter 2011. Two of the new greens on the Old Course were in play for the first time. Speed was noticeable different for these two greens. Comments from the locals indicated that the course was better than it had been last year. Fairways well grassed, greens true. Liked the West course better than the Old Course, but thoroughly enjoyed both

Fairways was patchy. Greens speed was variable. Felt more like a cheap suburban course than a championship course.

Played the Old Course May 7th 2010; clubhouse & surrounds looking very tired; paths all in need of refurbishment, resurfacing, edging paths & garden edges broken and out of alignment; fairways & greens could only be classified as below standard.
Since last visit the standard has definitely fallen below par and what is expected

What was one of the top two or so courses on the Murray is now sadly well below par in comparison. Played there last week, and found that the Old course back nine was closed due to upgrades. We played a composite of both West & Old front nines, and whilst the layout is of very good standard, the course upkeep is well behind others in this region and showing signs of the drought conditions that they have endured for some time. I still love the old course layout and was pleased to be able to tee off on the ’bell’ hole once again. Time and finances will restore it to its former glory I am sure but for now, Tocumwal and Yarrawonga are in far better condition.

Played both courses back to back and enjoyed both. The old was nicely framed by mature trees and played true to distance. The west was in a little worse condition but both played well. Greens were hard to hold and fairways a bit patchy until the rain sinks in after being scarified.
I will admit this complex becomes a slog fest on weekends with social groups and stray balls….wear a helmet and bring your stubbie holder!

old course is fun to play! not as long as the west course but its tighter fairways makes it just as challanging. has a good mixture holes from undulating to flat, straight, doglegs and long or short so every club in the bag would get used. highlight of the day was playing a bunker shot and hav 4 kangaroos a few metres away spectating. they seem very comfortable with all the people on the course as long u dont try to touch them! if u havnt played here before i recommend it. favourite holes…5,8,13,15,17 and 18.

Spent 5 days at one of the resorts with a few mates, cobram is a really interesting, challenging and well maintained golf course. with tree laiden fairways and a challenging length on all par 4's it was great fun. the par 3's in the main aren't to difficult and the par 5's are the real monsters of the course, the 9th is a real challenge 535 metre dogleg uphill to the green,. Great wildlife around, with lots of roos around. Enjoyed the golf very much would reccomend it to anyone.

Get a golf package and enjoy a few days on the Murray. The old course at cobram-barooga is always well maintained and a joy to play. The layout itself is a little bit tiresome and the new (West) course will far exceed the old course as a true test of championship golf in the coming years.

Great golfing holiday

The old course is an absolute delight to play, with every hole offering it's own unique vista and golfing challenges. It opens with a very short par 4 that is drivable for longer hitters, yet birdies are very rare and bogeys are common. The course then shows it's teeth with some long and challenging par 4's, testing out both driving and iron play. The gorgious little par 3 8th looks innocuous like the 1st, but appearance can be deceptive. There are many great holes on the back 9 too, but my favourite would have to be the unique 18th. It's a double-dogleg par 5, with a fairway that falls off sharply on either side as you approach the green, it really requires both imagination and ability to work the ball to play it well. What I love about this hole, apart from the fact that there's nothing like it elsewhere in the world, is that you can be playing a friendly match and be 5 shots behind on the tee, yet still be in with a chance. Anything is possible on this hole, from a birdie to a quadruple bogey or worse. My only complaint about the course is that the putting surfaces tend to be a bit patchy and slow sometimes.

A terrific setting for a few days - close to the river, great climate, inexpensive golf, a town with all the amenities you need. Paradise for the keen golfer.

The Old Course is a good challenge, with a mix of short and long holes to suit all levels of player.

A lovely short par 4 to start - driveable for the big hitters - gives way to longer par 4s that require strong shot making and good putting on big, well designed greens.

A challenge from start to finish, most enjoyable.
