Played on the west course on queen’s birthday 8 june. Booked for 1pm. Very crowded. Had to group with another pair. Only managed to finish 15 holes before the sun set at 5pm.Lots of pitch marks on the green. This course is too long. Most of the par 4’s are 350-400m which is hard to reach in 2. Much prefer the river course.

This is a fantastic course which is in immaculate condition, even after the recent storms that battered the coast. They may lose a few trees but it has lost none of its beauty or its ability to punish those who try to steal a birdie from its clutches. A champioship course you can afford to play and still be challenged.

The Golf Club is excellent Beatifully laid out aaand kept pristine. We were supposed to tee off at 1307 hrs. We teed off at 1330 hrs. All tee offs were in groups of 4 therefore we could only get 14 holes in as it was getting to dark the groups of 4 held everyone up. Cannot give any solutions as social players can only tee off at 1300hrs. Must confess if we cannot tee off earlier we wont go there again.

Played here on 6/2/09. Beautiful course and layout, although I prefer the River Course. Very lush with fairways absolutely perfect. Greens a bit damaged by pitch marks, I suspect they will be repairing them very soon as per maintenance schedule. Only negative I booked for the River and when arrived they told me I couldn’t play there because of a comp day, which obviuosly they knew when I called them.

Very enjoyable course. It provided enough of a challenge for those of us with experience, while being easy enough for our beginners to be able to play and enjoy themselves too. Excellent facilities and a beautifully maintained course.

Wow. just, played this course (west) for the first time. It is fantastic. The layout is great. You can play safe and have a great day, but there are a few possible short cuts here and there, good play is rewarded, poor play is punished. Really good greens too. they were a lot quicker than i was used to, and as such struggled a little. but the breaks are true, the speed consistent. Will definately play here again, as i cannot say I’ve played anywhere better in the region.

Good challenging course and definately worth playing ezpecially for the price.

Only word of warning if you arebooking this course through iseekgolf even though the site is listed as a QLD Gold Coast course it is in NSW so be aware of the time difference when booking.

Tried to play the West Course today after playing the River Course earlier on in the week. As I was on my own, I arrived at 5.45am on a Thursday Morning hoping to play the West Course but happy to play either of the 2 courses. There were no other golfers around when I arrived.

Went in to the Pro Shop and was told that members competitions were on both courses that Thursday morning and despite the fact that members were not teeing off for another hour, that I would not be allowed on either of the courses until 10.30am – almost 5 hours away.

Wasn’t overly impressed. The bottom line is make sure you contact the Club before you routinely arrive like I did. Not that I will be in any rush to hurry back there. Ended up playing Robina Woods and found the layout and conditioning to be superior to the River Course at Coolangatta/Tweed Heads.

I have never played on a more pleasant golf course. The fairways and greens where near to perfect. We never felt pushed at all, even though there where many playing the course at the time. Great day all round. Will go back soon.

Played both River & West over the last week. Both are terrific courses & the best value for money on the Gold Coast. River – with more dog legs & 328 Greens, plays very different to West – which boasts bent greens. A reasonable variety of hazards – but not tricked up (like the Resort course “waterworlds”). Very playable by golfers of all abilities. Good Pro Shop & large Clubhouse with wall to wall “pokies”.

Both the River & West courses are fantastic. For me the West course is the better of the 2 but only marginally. From well grassed tee boxes to great fairways (and the few bits of rough I found) are an absolute pleasure to play off. The only small thing that annoyed me is the amount of un-repaired pitch marks on the green. Maybe the pro-shop should give away pitch repair tools (and show them how to use them) with the round of golf, only a $1 expense.

PROS

  • Overall course condition
  • Fairways
  • Challenging Layout

Cons

  • Pivot/Pitch marks

enjoyed my round on the “west course”. excellent lay out with good water and bunker placement which gives it some challange. fairways were great and the greens were in good nick depite all the pitch marks. i forgot my aeroguard so i had a few mozzie bites by the end but it didnt stop me enjoying the day. excellent value for money for the gold coast area and cant wait to come back and play the “river course”.

We played this course last Wednesday, due to the fact that most courses were closed due to the rain. The course showed little sign of the rain and is a real challenge with lots of questions asked of you especially off most tees. The shame with this course is probably due to the fact that green fees are in that affordable bracket because lots of golfers/hackers play the course and the greens are scarred with pitch marks. We had to admit at the end of 18 very few putts were hindered by this but its a shame that a great course is hampered by many. Well worth the money to play and perhaps with a bit more course-marshalling the greens could match the course lay out.

I played this course over Easter. Upon approaching the course it didn't jump out at me as anything special.

Approaching the first tee I became excited and as the round progressed I knew I was playing a great course,a true course to test your skill.

There were something like 7 dog legs I think. Some really nice holes - bring the aeroguard though - lots of mossies on the back nine.

Definitley worth playing and the price was exceptional.
