Despite all the rain lately the West Course was in great shape. Definately the best greens we have found on GC at the moment.
Pro Shop staff were great.
Free drink voucher was put to good use after the game.
We’ll try to get a game on River Course ASAP.

I played the West Course on March 15th, for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it.
It was very well maintained, considering the amount of rain we have had over the previous month.
The layout is varied which makes it interesting, some holes can be rather long, with numerous bunkers, but that’s what makes it a good golf course.
I am looking forward to playing this course again.

In my opinion the better of the 2 courses. A great challenge and we were round in well under 4 hours. Greens excellent. We returned to play the following week but were rained off after 4 holes. The pro shop were very accomodating and booked us on to the River course later that week.

Great Conditioning. Ok layout. Staff is 0.5/5. Members arent very inviting having played there twice as a reciprocal. River course is the real option here, i give that a 3/5.

Great service from staff, course in Vgood nic.
No marshalls on course and should not be needed, if groups did the right thing. BUT, I was in a group of 2 held up by a 4 with 2 of them walking the time was 5 hrs to get to the 18th- these fools would not even call up on the compulsory call ups par 3’s. These arrogant hackers held many others up behind us with no one in front of them.
Maybe next time we will just hit up on the par 3’s.

Played on the 23/2/12. Despite the poor weather the course was in great condition and is a good test.

We turned up on the wrong day of the booking but they still let us on, thanks. A great douse and in great condition and play was pretty quick, very few hold ups.

Thoroughly enjoyable day. They even provided a great shelter, that we utilized, to avoid being drowned in a passing thunderstorm. The course drained exceptionally well following about twenty minutes of heavy rain. Greens are true and a good speed. When the wind gets up it becomes a lot tougher to negotiate some of the tree lined fairways.

A great course and at the moment the greens are as quick as any you will find on the northern rivers area.

I played the course in July. Very flat but also deceptively long due to the multitude of fairway bunkers and doglegs. Easy to get into trouble trying to cut corners. I enjoyed the challenge and great price from iseekgolf.

Even though we got plenty of rain, the coarse was not that badly effected. Most other coarses you would need a snorkle and goggles, but not coolly.Really enjoyed the lay out of the West coarse, and will definatly play there again.Staff in pro shop were also helpfull and certious.

Course is in great condition and very challenging. Still wet in some bunkers and in the rough. Greeens a bit marked by ball jmpressions after the wet season.

The course is probably in the best condition I have seen it. The fairways were probably the highlight. It is unfortunate people still haven’t learnt that you have to repair pitch marks on bent greens, they really have been knocked about but there is nothing the groundstaff can do about that it is a matter for the members to look after.
Can highly recommend we got a surprisingly great run with hardly anyone out there. Best value on the coast and northern new!

First time played this course for about 6 years and it still stands up as a top class golf course. Wind was blowing and made accuracy a premium. All parts of your game will be tested.

What a pleasant suprise. I played the West Course and enjoyed it as much or even more than a lot of the so called premier courses on the Gold Coast. The course was in great condition but the best aspest was the course design. You have to think your way around the course. Of course first time around this does result in you putting yourself in bad positions on numerous holes. I will definately play again

A true course to test your skills long and short.

There are some really challenging holes – greens are fantastic. Definitley one of the top courses on the Gold Coast.

PROS

We played Coolangatta Tweed West as part of our yearly trip to the Gold Coast and despite the oft referred to slow play, most of the group felt it was the best course we played…..especially the greens. The fairways were also first class and the bunkers fully playable which after a fairly wet spell were some of the few that were compared to the other tracks. We played both courses three days apart and although the River greens had just been renovated found the River course to be very enjoyable as well. We also played Hope Island which was very good but exxy and Robina, Colonial and Lakelands which were all very wet with bunkers in terrible condition.

The course was in great condition, as always. It was without a doubt, the slowest 12 holes of golf we have ever played. Gave up after 12 and nearly 4 hours.

I really enjoyed being back at the course I was a member of 15 years ago as a junior. The condition of the course is fantastic, and I just love how true the greens run. The greens play so much better than any I’ve played in Brisbane. Fairways are beautiful – even as a regular divot taker I found that you hardly needed any sand, cause the fairway grass made it almost like you were hitting off a tee all the time. I walked away very happy with visit back to the West course (5 birdies helped too!!)

PROS

  • Exceptional fairways
  • Wonderful greens with true roll
  • Great conditioning all round
  • Good mixture of holes

The course is in absolutely mint condition, there was only 2 rough patches on the whole course and they were Roped GUR with new turf being layed, congratulations to the green keeping staff the place is beautiful (unlike most courses around the coast).

The layout is very challenging plenty of dog legs, you are required to put your ball not only in the fairway but on the right side or else you are penalised by the mass of trees.

Only downfall was there was no drinks cart all afternoon on a saturday.

Ok layout fairly flat with a bit of water. Greens were in good nick and putted true. Only drawback got stuck behind Pennants at a 12.04pm Tee time so play was very slow. Grouped with 3 Asian players who didn’t understand that we were to play in a group of 4 therfore played on my own in front of them – no marshall to be seen all afternoon.

Played on the west course on queen’s birthday 8 june. Booked for 1pm. Very crowded. Had to group with another pair. Only managed to finish 15 holes before the sun set at 5pm.Lots of pitch marks on the green. This course is too long. Most of the par 4’s are 350-400m which is hard to reach in 2. Much prefer the river course.

This is a fantastic course which is in immaculate condition, even after the recent storms that battered the coast. They may lose a few trees but it has lost none of its beauty or its ability to punish those who try to steal a birdie from its clutches. A champioship course you can afford to play and still be challenged.

The Golf Club is excellent Beatifully laid out aaand kept pristine. We were supposed to tee off at 1307 hrs. We teed off at 1330 hrs. All tee offs were in groups of 4 therefore we could only get 14 holes in as it was getting to dark the groups of 4 held everyone up. Cannot give any solutions as social players can only tee off at 1300hrs. Must confess if we cannot tee off earlier we wont go there again.

Played here on 6/2/09. Beautiful course and layout, although I prefer the River Course. Very lush with fairways absolutely perfect. Greens a bit damaged by pitch marks, I suspect they will be repairing them very soon as per maintenance schedule. Only negative I booked for the River and when arrived they told me I couldn’t play there because of a comp day, which obviuosly they knew when I called them.

Very enjoyable course. It provided enough of a challenge for those of us with experience, while being easy enough for our beginners to be able to play and enjoy themselves too. Excellent facilities and a beautifully maintained course.

Wow. just, played this course (west) for the first time. It is fantastic. The layout is great. You can play safe and have a great day, but there are a few possible short cuts here and there, good play is rewarded, poor play is punished. Really good greens too. they were a lot quicker than i was used to, and as such struggled a little. but the breaks are true, the speed consistent. Will definately play here again, as i cannot say I’ve played anywhere better in the region.

Only word of warning if you arebooking this course through iseekgolf even though the site is listed as a QLD Gold Coast course it is in NSW so be aware of the time difference when booking.

Tried to play the West Course today after playing the River Course earlier on in the week. As I was on my own, I arrived at 5.45am on a Thursday Morning hoping to play the West Course but happy to play either of the 2 courses. There were no other golfers around when I arrived.

Went in to the Pro Shop and was told that members competitions were on both courses that Thursday morning and despite the fact that members were not teeing off for another hour, that I would not be allowed on either of the courses until 10.30am – almost 5 hours away.

Wasn’t overly impressed. The bottom line is make sure you contact the Club before you routinely arrive like I did. Not that I will be in any rush to hurry back there. Ended up playing Robina Woods and found the layout and conditioning to be superior to the River Course at Coolangatta/Tweed Heads.

Played both River & West over the last week. Both are terrific courses & the best value for money on the Gold Coast. River – with more dog legs & 328 Greens, plays very different to West – which boasts bent greens. A reasonable variety of hazards – but not tricked up (like the Resort course “waterworlds”). Very playable by golfers of all abilities. Good Pro Shop & large Clubhouse with wall to wall “pokies”.

49. GlenW | Rated | 26 Mar 2008 | Add A Review

Both the River & West courses are fantastic. For me the West course is the better of the 2 but only marginally. From well grassed tee boxes to great fairways (and the few bits of rough I found) are an absolute pleasure to play off. The only small thing that annoyed me is the amount of un-repaired pitch marks on the green. Maybe the pro-shop should give away pitch repair tools (and show them how to use them) with the round of golf, only a $1 expense.

PROS

  • Overall course condition
  • Fairways
  • Challenging Layout

Cons

  • Pivot/Pitch marks

enjoyed my round on the “west course”. excellent lay out with good water and bunker placement which gives it some challange. fairways were great and the greens were in good nick depite all the pitch marks. i forgot my aeroguard so i had a few mozzie bites by the end but it didnt stop me enjoying the day. excellent value for money for the gold coast area and cant wait to come back and play the “river course”.

We played this course last Wednesday, due to the fact that most courses were closed due to the rain. The course showed little sign of the rain and is a real challenge with lots of questions asked of you especially off most tees. The shame with this course is probably due to the fact that green fees are in that affordable bracket because lots of golfers/hackers play the course and the greens are scarred with pitch marks. We had to admit at the end of 18 very few putts were hindered by this but its a shame that a great course is hampered by many. Well worth the money to play and perhaps with a bit more course-marshalling the greens could match the course lay out.

I played this course over Easter. Upon approaching the course it didn't jump out at me as anything special.

Approaching the first tee I became excited and as the round progressed I knew I was playing a great course,a true course to test your skill.

There were something like 7 dog legs I think. Some really nice holes - bring the aeroguard though - lots of mossies on the back nine.

Definitley worth playing and the price was exceptional.
