Course is quite short but plays longer due to being built around the top of a hill. Good layout with a few challenging holes. Nice greens and fairways. Only challenge is playing holes in correct order as markings are not good.

not a long course but challenging enough layout being one the best courses in the outer eastern suburbs. is a private course but does allow green fee players on some days of the week which is how i got to play it. has the best fairways around with fast greens and smart placement of bunkers. not going to be ere for much longer as they are building a new course and relocating out to the back of lilydale, the current course will hav its land sold up for real estate and dissappear for ever which sad for the heritage of the club. if you havnt played ere diffently try to play this legendary course before its gone forever.

Although I've lived in Croydon for quite a while, I regret to say that I haven't played this course nearly as often as I should have, as it's a very nice course indeed.
The first thing to note about Croydon is that, the guy at the pro shop will offer you a map - trust me, you'll need it, as the various re-modells the course has had over the years has some long walks between greens/tees - also, on the tees, each hole is identifies by a slightly submerged plaque - no signboards, so the map comes in very handy in that sense.
Now, the course is not overly long, but quite hilly, with excellent course maintenance - excellent fairways, quick greens & some very good bunkering, most recently updated by Bob Shearer.
The signature hole at Croydon is "Coroner's Hill" - a short-medium length par 4, of which the last 150m plays completely, very steeply uphill - after managing the climb (presuming you do, of course!) you see quite clearly how it earned it's name.

A really good course, with an established heritage, Croydon is arguably the premier course of the eastern suburbs - however, the club has taken an offer to move to a new so real estate developments can expand in the area, & it won't be there in a few years time so I urge you to check it out while it's there.

(PS - in the 1950's a large tournament held at Croydon hosted greats such as Gary Player, Bruce Crampton, Norman von Nida, Kel Nagle & others, so the club has a very proud history.)

(PPS - new Croydon course & club is to be 27 holes designed/built by Ross Watson at a new site 15mins away - look out for it).
