What a great course. Nice layout and great greens. I also played Noosa Springs and Hyatt Coolum this trip and this course by far was the best. The drink cart did come around and the bag drop area was being attended, so I can’t agree with the previous reviewer.

I have been A Sunshine Coast resident for quite some time and managed to play onmost of the Coasts great courses. Yes, Pelican is a great course if not the best layout available, superb greens and every hole with its own unique challenges of water, strategically placed bunkers and lush bush surrounds.

However the darkside… service from the bagdrop (what bagdrop?), drinks carts (what drinks drinks cart? – saw it once in 18 holes and nearly collapsed from sun stroke and dehydration), the 19th hole, hmmm expensive and piss poor service.

So what did we have … an expensive, challenging and exceptional golf layout (which is good) underpinned by poor management and extremely poor service. This all spoiled a great day of golf… not sure if we’ll be back!

This is a really beautiful course, it has alot to offer, very challenging even the short holes can be tricky, if you play from the back tee’s it can be very interesting, my advice is stick to the fairways, if stray off you will be loosing lots of balls, ask me i’m talking from experience!

Pelican Waters is a stunning but very challenging course. We played as group of four, two women and two men. The biggest challenge for the girls was the length of some of the holes and the depth of the bunkers, while the biggest challenge for the boys was keeping the ball on the fairway. The greens were superb, the fairways fantastic and the rough was… rough. Course management is very important here. My advice is that it is better to be shorter and keep the ball on the fairway than trying to hit long and ending up in trouble. If you stay on the fairway the bunkers become easier to avoid, especially the greenside ones. On the downside I have to agree with other reviewers about the lack of service – one of our bags was put on the cart backwards and the staff in the pro shop really couldn’t have cared whether we were there or not. We played on Saturday Jan 26, Aust Day and the club put on a meat pie, lamington and cold drink mid way around the course. We found out about this when we saw the drinks cart as we were hitting off the 1st. Unfortunately we only saw her once more. It turned in to a very dry argument as there are no taps around the course. There is also a lack of rubbish bins and the cart paths are very rough in places. I must say though the staff in the bar were fantastic. At nearly $100 a round you expect a great course and great service. Make sure you get your money’s worth on the course because the service is non-existent.

found this to be a terrific golf course .Good wide fairways with plenty of hazards to catch the bad shots.Played the back nine first, starts with a par five uphill all the way too a very large green . Best hole on this nine is the 290m par 4 12th , short hole but the green is a postage stamp so requires a very accurate pitch shot. Then the front nine. By far the better of the 2 nines. This nine winds round the lakes with houses on the opposite side & would have some of the most attractive holes in the state. the best of these would be the 334m par4 5th with bunkers guarding both sides of the fairway at about 210m to 240m & a lake croossing the fairway at about 60m out & wrapping around the left side of the green. this is followed by a 150m par 3 off a raised tee, mostly water carry with the lake sneeking round behind the green.this course is definately worth a visit.

The layout and condition is wonderful can’t recommended it enough and its the best on the Sunshine Coast, but I agree with other people…. the service is rather average! No water fountains for a drink, so you have to buy from the elusive drinks cart…. 3 time on the front and not once in the heat on the back nine….Take your own. So for $100-$150 I would expect a lot more service for my money…5/5 for the course and 1/5 for service

Played Pelican Waters last week and thoroughly enjoyed the experience with the typical Norman/Links feature of having holes to yourself with only rare glimpses of other holes. Strategy all the way with the GPS carts and with corse management and good shot selection certainly playable for all people involved.

From reading other contributions must also add that no drink cart visited us for the whole day so pack your own lunch and drinks. Was well serviced in the bar afterwards with Lovely lamb rolls, done with a difference but there weren’t many people around.

Enjoy the course for wahat it is and believe the price tag is justified when compared to other coast courses. Can’t help but think that pelican Waters Management should be reading this not the golfer.

Played this course for the first time last Saturday. Course is tough and was in reasonable condition though extremely soggy. Everything else from no drink cart to staff attitude made for a rather unpleasant experience which we will not be repeating. Could not wait to finish and leave – didn’t even bother to try the bar after a pre match lunch that was not up to par.

As a regular visitor to the Sunshine Coast I always look forward to my game at pelican. I played last Saturday afternoon and while the course was in reasonable condition, the lack of a marshal and shortage of service from the refreshment cart tarnished my experience. My playing partners and I visited the bar after golf, only to find 1 bartender available to service the needs of 30 odd customers. All in all, i enjoyed the golf course, but unfortunately not much else.

Played this track for the first time a couple weeks ago. Forgot about the bag drop, you may as well load your own buggy & make certain to ask for some range balls or you may not be offered any.

Admittedly, there had been quite a lot of recent rain, so unfortunately the course was a bit under foot. Played off the back tees & can say the course present a good challenge to this golfer. Nice layout, plenty of strategy required to avoid bunkers & hazards.

Disappointing in general, I can’t say it was good value even with a discount voucher. Hard to justify a $99 round on a course in less than ideal condition & with poor service in pro-shop.

Played Club Pelican today and everything was in immaculate condition. Greens and fairways were great - greens ran very true.

As with most of the courses Ive played recently, you obviously notice that they dont feel as long as the courses you played when you were young. Eg-410m Par 5 or a 245m Par 4 (shortest par 4 on the course). So you have to choose when to hit the driver very carefully.

One instance where I didnt follow that philosophy was when I came to the 245m par 4 12th. I hit driver not even thinking because it ended up going straight to the green but flying it - should have hit the 3 wood...damn!!!!

The club has a great layout with a brilliant looking clubhouse and resort next to it so make sure you take the camera with you - I wish I did!!

GPS in the carts makes it even more appealing and the ball and club washer on it is bloody brilliant!!!

Currently its only $85 to play but double check when you call the prohop. HIGHLY RECOMENDED - ENJOY!!

Overshadowed by the Hyatt Regency Coolum, this is a very good golf course. If you are more than a 18 marker, you will do well to break 100! Excellent condition and service. Enjoy!

Great course! Fairways are like carpet, greens in perfect condition. One of the best courses I have played on. The *only* bad thing about the course is that the fairways are too lush and green that you don't get much roll off your drives once the ball hits the fairway. but then, nothing's perfect... but Club Pelican almost is.

If you really want to enjoy a good game of golf you have to give this a shot.

Picture perfect course, excellent condition.

Get the Golf cart - has the GPS, ballwasher, club cleaner - the works!

One of the best presented courses (I player Twin Waters, CLub Pelican & Hyatt Coolum last week).

Of the 3, I would rate Club Pelican No 1

I played at Pelican waters about 2 weeks ago it was looking great until i found that the fairways are that wet your ball plugs every time and gets no roll or kicks down the fairway, also around the greens was sogging wet no room to gain relief from casual water as it was everywhere you went. Greens were nice and true. Very challanging if you go out with the mindset that you need to bash it off the tee every time you will come unstuck. I am a 23 h/cap and shot 3 over it, not bad for a tough course as it is possible to do this at my home course as well. Keep your game simple and safe you should go alright. My advice is maybe tee off in the arvo as it may have time to dry out and give you a run for your money.

i played ther a few weeks ag and the course is so lush it is a golfers dream...the challenging layout is surronded by well maintained hazards and greens...one of the best courses if not the best in Queensland...

worth the money trip and all..staff is just fabulous and gps in the carts just tops it off...

if you are going to play anywhere in the sunshine coast it will have to be this one..

This is one hell of a course - just sensational. I love the options that norman gives you here. On every hole you have 2 or 3 ways to play it, no just bash it down the middle here, you'll need to have think a little. A few classic holes -2,3,7,8, 13, 14 and 18. Having given it a wrap the 16th is probably one of norman's worst but I guess 17 out of 18 holes is a darn good effort and I find if hard to imagine anyone not walking of thinking that they have just played one of the country"s finest. The greens are a little tricky to read - into the grain they don't move anywhere near what you think and down grain they will break their ears off. So pay particular attention to the grain. A definate must play!

A great course doesnt become an average course when it takes a little longer to get around it... Relax and enjoy the fact that your playing, in my opinion, the Sunshine Coast's premier course. Putting it ahead of the host of the Australian PGA, Hyatt Coolum and Peter Thompson's Twin Waters isnt a decision made lightly but after a round here you might agree.

Played the course in Feb 2004. Magnificent course but the weather was 48 degrees on course. Fun course but also demanding. One of the best on the coast.

Greg Norman what a legend of the game and what a great course designer.

This course is challenging, but a pleasure to play - designed by a professional - not like most other wimpy courses that were designed by the greenkeeper who had very little idea back in the 50's.

The course has broken away from Troon Golf which is probably a blessing.

And as for you Mr Qldin.

Get over yourself!

You obviously don't have any idea on the running of a golf course so don't bother commenting on it.

The team there is very professional and complaining about slow play over the busiest period of the year...you must be a total yuppie with totally unrealistic ideas. Enjoy the course, it's surroundings or your playing partners if you had any.

Everyone please don't listen to his comments because the golf course is an absolute gem and a must play course in QLD.

As a long standing Peli Waters fan, I was extremely dissappointed over Xmas when, after playing 12 courses across Brissie, Nth and Sth Coasts, turned up at Peli for my 2nd last round.

10.30 tee off not ideal, but even worse, course was choked and the normally efficent marshalling was non-existent. In fact, didn't see a marshall at all until I went into the pro shop after the 9th to complain.

Guess I was spoiled playing some great courses, and even though most of them packed (Royal Pines...2 x 5.5 hr rounds, waiting for our Asian neighbours to finish duffing their way around...bless them), the marshalling and co-ordination was generally quite efficent.

This day, at Peli, was rubbish...and most un-Troon like, a blip on their normally excellent card.

The best course in the area.

I played it on a long golfing holiday where I played 23 different courses in 4 weeks. (Then I collapsed) Even playing all those courses, this one still stood out.

Pelican Waters is a great course and just as importantly great fun to play.

The course is tough but fair and if you don't play from the back tees you should be able to play to play to your handicap.

Some of the holes are as good as any I've seen -2, 3,5, 8 ( my favourite),12, 14, 15 and 16 are especially worthy.

The course, while still immature, is already of the quality you would expect from Norman / Troon; the practice facilities are first class; and service and club house are relaxed.

The biggest surprise is the beautiful way the course blends in with the natural environment - waterways ( front nine) and wetlands ( back nine). Happily less than half the holes are fronted by the property development and the devlopment is not intrusive.

The course is spectacular and with time will only get better.

It seems that at the moment it tends to be somehat overlooked ( when compared to other resort courses) but this should correct itself over time. This is particularly ironic as Pelican Waters is also competively priced.

I would recommend this course to all - you will want to play it again.

PS. If you're looking for a great place to stay on your golfing holiday the Vardon Point apartments are wonderful - great views, fit out and value.
