I played here this afternoon and the course is in pretty good nick however I don’t know that I would rate it as one of the best courses in Sydney as someone else has. It is an above average sorta semi private suburban parkland style public access course. It’s better than Fox Hills and on par or maybe slightly better than North Ryde?
The fairways and tees were in excellent condition and the greens are large and present a challenge, however they were a little disappointing in that there were a lot of pitch marks and it just feels like they could be really pristine, top quality greens and elevate the course/club to a higher standard with more attention from the greenstaff. That is perhaps being critical and really the greens were as good as any other public course you will play on pretty much.
Having said that the layout is good with plenty of long holes to get the driver out and with the $18 after 4pm all you can play deal, I’ll be playing here a lot more over the coming Summer.
Teeing off at 4pm this afternoon a mate and I played 18 holes, finishing right on 7pm with hardly another person on the course in the beautiful late afternoon sun. Brilliant.

Would be up there with the best courses in Sydney. Played here last week and the course was in perfect condition. Rained heavy at the beginning of the round but course drained very well. Great Chinese meal in the clubhouse post-round also makes the drive out to Cumberland CC well worth it.
ONLY downside for me was the lady in the pro shop. She refused to accept that we had made a discount booking (which we had) and ended up charging us the full amount. She then made a fuss over our polo shirts on the way out which was uncalled for and left a bit of a sour taste in our mouths prior to teeing off.
Despite this setback (which has only ever happened once – usually the staff are excellent), I would still highly recommend a game here.

Played here last week. Found the course in good condition. Wasn’t a really hard course. 1st hole a bit daunting with the green almost swallowed by bunkers but after that a pretty straight forward course. I found it a bit expensive for the type of course it is. Would rate along side Richmond, Ashlar or Fox Hills.
PROS
- Basic sort of course
Cons
- Greens VERY SLOW with dew on them and sped up dramatically when they dried

Played in the comp on 16th April and found the course to be back to its best. Greens could have been a bit faster, got good lies in the fairway and rough
Well worth a game there….now

Not as long as the other private courses around but at 5976m Par 72 from the blue plates it is not too bad of a course. Condition of its fairways was far below par for a well-established course, with many dirt patches received on fairway lies. But the greens and teebeds were superb with beautiful speed on the greens at the moment.
Longest holes are quite boring with 5 par 5s all similiar length that asks the same questions - longest is 511m 4th. The 5 par 3s were all different, but the ones on the back nine were much easier than front nines.
My favourite holes were 191m 3rd over a large gully to an elevated green. Also 173m 5th with water on right is a nervous shot to a well-bunkered green. The course has a very quaint feel to it, with not many holes in view other than your own. The clubhouse is not too overdone, and its practice facilities are quite inviting.
Played here 10/1/07 and paid $37 green fees weekdays or $40 on weekends. For 9 holes its $24. Open comps are on Wed and Sundays. May only play again if in a comp.

Played here for the first time and really enjoyed the course. The layout was interesting with good variation - had a nice amount of fairway and greenside bunkers with some holes also with water coming into play. Really good par 3's that were quite long with one measuring over 190m.
Wasn't a hard course and one should be able to shoot their handicap without too much problem.
Course was in a reasonable condition although the summer drought has taken its toll on the fairways with some bare and dried out patches.
Would give it another go sometime.

A lowly, tree lined west Sydney course. Not overly long to par, but still a challenge.
A few dams come into play, especially on the par 5's which are quite good. The par 4's offer a variety in length from the shot 285m 1st to the 392m 14th.
Many of the drives on the 4's & 5's are over hills, so the drive zone is blind. This shouldn't cause too much trouble for first timers as long as you are careful.
The course is always in reasonable condition & is quite well bunkered, placing a premium on accuracy on you approach shots.

Cumberland is a good, honest golf course. Especially when the tees are back near the blue markers.
The fairways are wide, with a nice cushion of kikuyu grass in most cases and a couple of bare patches of less than a metre or so across on one or two fairways.
For the unfamiliar there are a few holes where the drive is over the crest of a hill, and you need to be careful not to hit up on the group in front. One of the holes has an elevated mirror to help spot the human targets, but this is a feature of a few holes and at least two others need a similar mirror.
Hidden water is another feature on a few holes, and the local rule of playing a provisional from the tee if in any doubt it may have landed there means that if you have ended up wet you will be playing your third from a long way back from where the ball was lost.
Highlight holes are the longish par 3 3rd with a drive across a valley into a long green angled away from the tee, a handful on mid-length par 4s with wide fairways, large greens and well placed bunkers and a couple of nearly driveable par 4’s (1st and 17th) which are well protected by bunkers in front of the greens. The par 5’s are not overly long and reachable in 2 with a long drive and a long fairway metal.
