This is a strange course, with a number of holes having trees in the fairway. The first is a par 4 with a number of trees across the fairway, meaning that there is no direct line to hit at the green. It is quite short, with a par of 71 for men (rating 68) and 72 for ladies (rating 69). The fairways were reasonably grassed, but had quite a few bare patches on them. The greens were excellent and probably saved the course from a worse rating.
The course has no bunkers or hazards and is quite hilly in places. We walked the course, but some of the climbs are hard work. You never get a level lie on the course, including the tee blocks, so the ball is always above or below your feet, and often runs off the fairway even after a good drive.
The third hole is a very poor par 3, for men it is 194 metres and 159 metres for ladies with a blind green with lots of humps and slopes around it, making it impossible to know where your ball finishes, so you may hit a good shot and never find your ball!
Green Fees were $20 for 18 holes, so reasonably priced, but if you are in the area it is worth the extra 60 klm drive to play Spalding Park in Geraldton.
