I played at Dunheved yesterday, and what a great course it was. VERY nice fairways, tees and greens, and excellent rough (quite long).
It was a great design of a course, using a lot of bunkering (my only complaint is that the rain the night before had wrecked a lot of bunkers). Nice, undulating greens. When I played, all the pins were on the edges of greens, making for some fast, downhillers, and you had to make sure not to shortside youself.
Par 5’s are great, making sure you position yourself off the tee if you want a birdie chance.
I would recommend playing here for anyone who gets a chance!

Played here with a mate on Sat 3 March for the first time, i loved it. We’re social players who go somewhere every 2nd saturday, usually play leonay and others out west, he had played before and said he always liked it, this was my first.
The Course; challenging, reasonably long, in very good condition, friendly staff, very suitable for weekend warriors who enjoy and respect the game and the course.
The course was very busy which was played out slow, but other than that, it was brilliant, great condition, good challenge, beautiful fairways.
From the pro shop to the club house, everyone was very friendly, it was stinking hot so the 19th was even better!
Cant wait to play there again!

I would like to just like to congratulate the Dunheved club, Green staff, etc, ALL involved in getting our course back to were it should be, great! if not better than it’s ever been.
Greens are superb at the moment, fairways are great ,the 7th & 16th tees are being levelled it’s great to see things being done to improve our course. It’s damn shame the greens have to be renovated, i think this week. BUT the good news is the new Green Keeper looks like he knows his stuff. The green staff have done an awsome job getting the course into it’s present condition.
It’s now up to our members & social players to help keep the greens nice by repairing pitch marks all the time, (repair 2 not just your own) along with the fairways by not just carrying BUCKETS but actually using them putting sand in divots.
I play every week at Dunheved & i’m stoked the way the course has come along since my last posting keep up the great work guys.
The rounds have been taking a little longer of late due to i think to the the thicker rough ( I"M NOT COMPLAINING, I THINK I’TS GREAT TO PUNISH A NOT SO GOOD TEE SHOT ") People are having trouble finding their balls in it.
NOW WERE PLAYING "GOLF" ON GOLF COURSE!!
BRING IT ON !!!!!
CAN’T WAIT TILL NEXT WEEK.

The fairways have improveda greatdeal and it is terrific to be able to hit a ball down the middle and have plenty of grass and a great lay. It is quite long and gives a great workout everytimeyou play. The wionds when they blow are always against you and when it is warm, it is hot!
The pro shop is great and the club house staff are exceptional overall a great days golf which is always better than a great day at work!!!

I would like to thank the proshop staff for their warm welcome all the time I have played their, I play on Wednesdays every week as a social player (thatâÄôs why I am not a member) and I have NEVER EVER in all my time their have I been looked at as a social player they treat all players as the same, Members or not. As we all know its NOT the MEMBER that keeps the place open, itâÄôs the SOCIAL player that keeps coming back and paying the money every week, if a golf club DID NOT have social players then you might as well close up until the weekends as you donâÄôt get enough players ALL DAY LONG during the week.
This is one of the best golf courses around, its out of the way and Not to may people know about it, there is only one thing that gets up your nose and that is the course staff allow more than 4 players to play in a group and it does slow things down to much, over 5 hours to play 18 holes last week, blow my head off thatâÄôs bull @#@#. but over all I will be back next week as this is the best golf course out west.

hi i'm a junior golfer at Dunheved. I'm just saying how bad the conditions of the tees are. They are like another bunker. I couldn't find a proper spot to put my tee in. Also the bunkers have no sand in them.

I think the previous players must have played Dunheved just after the tough Summer season, as I played here recently and could not have been more impressed for a course out West. A great course with plenty of distance to pull out your driver on, and good approches to their greens. The greens are playing fast and the tee surfaces all except for one were in fair condition. The beer was good and the staff friendly, I'm looking forward to the outdoor BBQ area they were telling me about. I'll be heading back out to check it out.

i am an ex member of dunheved (10 years ago) and was surprised to see how badly the course has declined, a great layout with plenty of length and variety of holes the general condition of the course is ordinary to say the least, has the potential to be one of the best courses inthe penrith area, could be another 10 before i am back

I have played this course a few times in the last 12 months. Generally it's a fairly interesting layout but is let down with poor course maintenance. I feel though with the layout and location of this course, if the club could get an injection of members and money they could turn this course from a 'fair' layout to a very good course. In it's currents condition though it will still test all levels of golfers.

I'm a proud member (8 years) of this course & i don't like to speak badly of the course BUT i have watched the condition of it go down hill over the past couple of years. yesterday (Sat 4/2/06 medal) was a disgrace, tees, fairways ,greens , surrounds all TERRIBLE!
I played to my single figure handicap so i'm not someone
whining after a bad round.
Lack of green staff, green staff, funds, out dated machinery, bugs, weeds etc what ever the problem we need it fixed NOW guys.
Dunheved is a great club with a ton of potential, great members, pro shop & staff, new committee, also a superb cadet & junior program.
Social golfers, visitors and/or potential new members are normally attracted to a club because of it's golf course.
My rating of the course would normally be VERY GOOD but in it's present condition at this stage can only be FAIR.
This review is only MY OPINION.

Flat course, but a little challenging to play. Course was is fairly good nick. Fairways were average, tee-beds were average but greens were extremely slow. After playing in the Port Stephens region over the weekend, I suppose I was spoilt.
Best holes are probably the 9th and 18th as both require lay-up options from the tee and offer a few challenges, like the water and deep sand traps. Otherwise the course is quite boring and the layout is around the South Creek, but no hole offers a hit near the creek. Lots of thick rough if you stray off the fairway.
Played here Tuesday 24/1/06 and paid $15 for social Tuesdays only, otherwise it is $28.50 for WE and $20 for WD. Great little clubhouse though.

Now only measures 6114m Par 72, with a ACR 71.
A very flat course, but still interesting to play. The finishing holes on both 9's are good holes requiring a drive in the right position to make the best approach to the green. The 3rd is a good short par 4 of 338m that has a large tree on the corner of the dog leg.
Driver can be taken from most tees (Par 4's & 5's), but accuracy is still required for good scoring.

I’ve played this course a few times, and i must say, i enjoy the back 9 way more then the front, its easier, more fun, and better quality, i did the junior clinic thingy just this week and i did horrible compared to wat i can do on front 9. it is still an excellent course, but this is in my opinion( the front and back 9 part)
