Played Eastern Sward today and I thought it was a decent little course. In pretty good condition given the lack of any decent rain.

Mid to high handicappers (like me) have enough to keep them guessing. There is a lot of water about and enough bunkers, though OOB will only worry those with a serious hook.

The order (of play) of the holes have obviously been re-arranged since the last review.

There is obviously a lot of choice re. better maintained/designed courses in the area, and some of the negative reviews (on this site) of Eastern Sward are probably a little unfair. It is a good little (private) course with a strong local, social element.

Quite a challenging and tough course to go around on. Only 9-holes but is turned into 18 by different tee placements. Course is in remarkable condition considering there is not many groundstaff.

Have recently added a dam/lake to the 3rd hole in front of the green (Par 3) makes it tough to get a birdie, most holes are challenging with a certain element of risk and reward.

Fairways and greens are in good condition, although watch out on some holes as sprinklers can sometimes be on! Also some tees are close to greens from the previous hole, so beware if you have a group behnd you.

The course does provide many challenges and some low-handicappers have had trouble at this small 9-hole hidden gem.

The only thing that this course lacks is adequate facilities for a club house and pro-shop, also there are no ball-cleaning machines situated around the course.

Looking forward to having another round at E.S.G.C, is a challenge for a novice golfer like myself - something that we all look for to improve our game...

Not a bad golf course, that run by 3 people. Most work on the course is done by amatuers. Greens can tricky.

If drives are hit in the wrong spot, irons into greens can be hard too hit. The third hole a 460m par 5 sharp dogleg to the right, can be a dangerous tee shot. With oob at the end of fairway. And oob on the right side of the trees. Can hit over trees but need to hit a snap slice to get it around the trees. Long rough also.

Access is limited to members usually so may to call club to organise a time.
