echunga is a challenging golf course, the front 9 is a challenging nine, the first hole is the second easiest on the front 9 its straight a away par 4 with challenges between 150 to 100 metre mark. the second hole is a par 3 that is accessable from the front half of the green avoid over hitting the green at all costs as there are hazards waiting.
the next 4 holes are the hardest ones to play on accuracy a must on these holes, and hole 9 is the easiest on the front it plays the same as hole 1.
the back nine is the easy half you cant go wrong on this nine, there are plenty of par 4s one par 5 and two par 3 the back 9 are simple easy holes that will allow the big hitter to open up on the back 9.
PROS
- improves skill level on both nines on the course
- the front 9 has medium size greens and the back have small and medium for accuracy
Cons
- N/A

This is a great course, especially for its vicinity to Adeliade and the condition it is in.
The front 9 is quite challenging and long hitters would be well advised to lay up (or just draw/fade your drives if your so inclined.
The back 9 is certainly easier than the front, but the lay out is still challenging.
As a member of a reciporical club I couldn’t have asked for a better round and the hospitality of the locals (Eric and Sid) was fantastic.
All though the area is hilly there are no massive uphill marches with the layout making things more moderate.
PROS
- Excellent fairways and greens
- Challenging layout
- Excellent hospitality

Been playing this course at least once a week since July. Fairways are currently in excellent condition and so too the greens which were rcently cored and sanded. There’s no buggy or cart hire or club hire..but Mondays and Tuesday its just $10 a round.($16 the rest of the week) The best $10 I spend all wee!!! Front 9 is undulating with several holes featuring doglegs driver or just short of driver length. Back 9 is flatter and a good contrast. The closing 4 holes (4,4,3,3) are enticing as they can really make for a great score coming home. The thing i like about this course is that you do have to manage ur play a little. Particularly the front 9. Not every hole plays like a bomb and chip it hole, and not hitting the fairway can cost you. My only criticism would be that they could make some of the some of the straight away holes more challenging by having some strategically placed greenside bunkers (the 1st and the 9th come to mind immediately) The 3rd is a good challeng..hit a good tee shot, then faced with the challenge of hitting a low punch from 100-150 metres to the green (which slopes off into a bunker on the right) cos of the bloody big tree on the LHS of the f’way.

I found this course to be quite good with wide open fairways and large greens. I played my first game here and i've been back many times and will go back again. High grass in the rough make it hard to find the ball and then when you do find it you have to try and get it out. Very few water hazards and sand traps make low scores posible. Overall this course is great and I would recommend it to any one who has a spare sunday and would like to try something new.

Not sure what GOLFNUT99 is talking about as holes 1 and 9 are by no means easy, in fact the first hole is rated as index 1 on the card. As such i thought i would add my own review.
Echunga is a nice little country track with a laid back atmosphere. The course isn’t overly long or difficult, but the combination of narrow tree lined fairways, small greens, a variety of dog legs and at times penal rough can make it a tough test.
The front nine is the newer nine and is a bit longer, and has a few elevation changes, unlike the original nine which is shorter and flatter.
This course doesn’t pretend to be anything more than a good country course and is all the better for it. Whilst it has well watered fairways and greens and a few bunkers and water hazards its main strength is the layout which combines narrow fairways, various layups off tees, risk reward holes and dog legs that require you to move the ball both ways, resulting in a course that requires every shot in the book.
Green fees are always really well priced too, highly recommended.
