Measures 5837m Par 71 with four par 3s ranging from 134-182m, eleven par 4s ranging from 327-404m and three par 5s ranging from 440-450m.

The front nine has patchy winter rye grass fairways, whilst the back nine has Santa Ana couch with patches of rye/kikuyu grass fairways. I should mention there are plans to seed couch grass on the front nine too. There are only 4 bunkered greens (3rd, 9th, 11th & 18th) with a total of 6 bunkers on the course.

Course has small bent grass greens with winter rye grass surrounding the greens. The pine & gum tree-lined layout has some holes where the medium-sized tree-lined fairways have ferns in the undergrowth, resembling the Limestone Coast layout of Millicent’s great course, but falling well short with poorer fairway and green conditioning here with a much easier flat layout.

The front nine highlights include: the 404m long Par 4 slight dogleg right 2nd (index 2) with a bunkerless green near the sportsfield; the 447m dogleg right 3rd (index 17) with 2 bunkers short of the green; the 162m slightly uphill 4th (index 15) with a medium-sized bunkerless green; and the 330m slightly uphill and gentle dogleg right 9th (index 13) with a bunker short right.

The back nine highlights include: the 450m straight 11th (index 7) with OOB along the left to a green guarded by a bunker leftside; the 360m straight 17th (index 5) with a blind teeshot over a crest; and the 333m straight 18th (index 9) with a green guarded by 2 bunkers.
Despite being slightly longer the back nine has 5 straight holes which makes it less challenging than the more varied and undulating gentle dogleg front nine holes.

There are some interesting gentle dogleg holes here with at least 9 flags not visible from the tee mound and despite the bunkerless greens, the uphill and downhill teeshots on the par 3s are varied. The double couch grass teebed on the 11th/17th looks new. Overall, a fairly flat tree-lined layout with no surprises.

Edenhope is a far western Wimmera town of nearly 1000 people on Lake Wallace approximately 160m above sea level about 30 minutes east of Naracoorte and 1 hour south-west of Horsham.

Played here 8th October 2011 with $15 green fees. Course access is from Laidlaw Avenue.

A great course to play as each hole is different and requires you to think about which club to play. Set in a scrub setting there is lots of trees which require you to shape the ball, fortunately the rough which used to be very thick is much better maintained now. The greens are small but very true with very few bunkers surrounding the greens. The course has four par 3’s all of varying distance with the downhill 16th being my favourite. The three par 5’s are all reachable in two for the bigger hitters with the 3rd although short being a challenge as bunkers will catch a short second shot.Of the par 4’s the 18th has the toughest green and requires an accurate tee shot.
