(course played in Jan 07) Coral Cove is set on the coast about 20 min south east of Bundaberg, near Elliot Heads. It’s a young course with plenty of small trees about. Also plenty of water in play, especially on the front nine. Unfortunately the water hazards are very ‘man-made’ or ‘created’ and appear completely out of place on the course. It’s almost like looking at a scale model marina development with access water to all of the housing blocks and certainly not a natural landscape.

Course was rough around the edges, and not just from the dry conditions. But as with all things, you get what you pay for and with the cheap green fees I guess you can’t expect great conditioning.

The par 6 12th is a new concept to Australia (how long before we have someone else copy it…) and is an interesting variation. After a solid drive and 5 wood there was still another wood or long iron to get close to the green. The other feature hole is the par 3 second, nestled along the coastline. Obviously the hole is best played with the tide in and a potential shot over the water. I played with the tide right out and it was just a collection of black rocks which looked different, although the contrast of my little white ball boncing off them following an errant tee shot was amusing.

The course certainly has potential, with a different design and unique attractions, but is let down by poor finish and surrounds. Not surprisingly, the scorecard doesn’t add up correctly, and it’s not just one nine, but both of them!

very nice. especially the front 9. when in good condition is a top course. 2nd hole is very tough from the black tees but still is an awesome hole to play right next to the ocean

Not a bad course some nice holes but in the summer heat some fairways tend to dye and the ground gets hard, also the lay out being spread out over a long way you can only take a cart out limiting the chances to play but a good course to play when everything is green with a great 2nd hole par three with the ocean right next to you.

What could be a fantastic golf course has been left high and dry.

Still interesting enough ,however, to play two days in a row.

Day one, white tees , hardly a problem. Managed to play to handicap which is a rarity these days.

Tricky 2nd but with no wind and a couple of relaxing beers I enjoyed a reasonably trouble free round.

Day two, blue tees and a bit more wind, ten strokes worse!

The par six 12th is like a short holiday but do-able, however the 13th coming back into the wind feels longer.

Driving (both buggy and golf ball) in and around the estate houses is both tight and circuitous, as one houseould found out with two balls on their front verandah!

Costs are very good and will return when the dams and creeks have some water in them. That would make the Island 18th more of an island!

Our social club has just played 5 weeks in a row at Coral Cove, culminating in a match against thier members which I can happily say that we won. This message is just to reinforce what I said in my last comments, the course is fantastic, our numbers were well up for the 5 weeks and all our members enjoyed the course and the hospitality of the staff, a special thanks to Paul, Nathan, and Peter for thier help in organising the challenge match, our members really enjoyed the day and the 4 weeks prior. The Railway Social Golf Club would not hesitate to recomend Coral Cove to any local or visiting golfers.

the course is in great shaoe and the grass is just well maintained greens and all is just wonderful..but one thing you have to watch is the weather...

money wise it is very cheap for the course but the staff and all is just great...thecourse will just top off your day...

with a par 3 you will never forget...feeling that ocean breeze sweep across the hole is great and hitiing over the flowing water is terrific...

Our social club has been coming to Coral Cove ever since it was only a nine hole course.and we were sceptical as to whether it would evolve into a great course that the owners hoped it would. After looking through our records our first game there was on 3/5/98 and our last was on 9/4/06 and we can't wait to go back because the golf course is better than I ever imagined it would be. WE have players with handicaps from 4 to 37 and 99% of them love the course, we had junior playing off 25 who broke his handicap by 8 shots, so the course is suited to low and high markers. The staff in the pro shop, and the clubhouse are very friendly and helpful and should be congratulated on how the course and the resort is presented. I would have no problems recomending Coral Cove to anyone coming to Bundaberg. Our club will be back there for 5 weeks in a row in August, and we looking forward to challenge against their club on 17/9/06

I have been coming to coral cove for an annual event each year and having played there last week the improvments in the course are fantastic with full coverage of grass from tee to green makes the course asthetically pleasing. The course's greens are fantastic with a very true roll and large in size.

Big hitters will love it here as you can take on three of the par 4's in the first six holes but there is danger being a scratch marker and having played alot of good courses i highly rate this club.

This course is challenging for all levels of golfers off blue and white tees with the second hole 200mtr par 3 one of the toughest and visually appealing holes in australia riding the ocean front. With the only par six in australia the 12th hole can play both easy and hard depending on the wind.

Being situated on the ocean the wind does get up occasionally making the course play harder. The back nine has matured so much in the last twelve months and is exciting as it is developed through the housing estate of coral cove and really looks fantastic.

All in all the course is looking great and i will be back for sure you should check it out as well the staff are great its well priced and the resort is good for accomodation as well see you at the course!!!!!!!

The Front 9 are a nice mix with water and hard shot selction. The 6th and 7th holes are a long cart ride away from the other holes which leads me to think it was poorly designed.

The back 9 are located all through the housing estate which is nice but if i lived there i would be uping my insurance!!!

Now, to the weather and playing conditions. I played twice and the first day, I had some wind, but I was still able to par most holes (the ones I didn't let's not talk about). On the second day I was met with Cyclonic wind conditions which meant if you have a high ball flight (like myself) put the clubs back in the car and head to the bar or the pool.

All in all check it out, if the wind is up they have a good little restaurant and clubhouse.

If it has been raining heavily forget it (fllod prone), or in a drought (tough lies). Lovely signature hole on the ocean, par 3. Houses are starting to encroach so watch the slice. Carts now mandatory. Long hitters will like it.

This course is now a full 18 hole championship layout with the 12th being the only par 6 in the world (695m from the back tee).

Excellent layout with good greens and challenging placement of both bunkers and water.

Some long distances between holes due to housing development surrounding course, suggest motorised cart unless really fit.
