An interesting layout, with water in play quite a bit. The greens were good, but the fairways were quite dry. If they were in better condition it would rate higher as there are some good golf holes on the course. They have a reticulation system for the fairways, but the source of the recycled water had broken down, so this explained the dryness. Usually they are in better condition, we believe. The members were very friendly, we played in the Sunday mixed comp no problems and enjoyed the company both on the course and in the clubhouse afterwards. Green fees are $25, which is reasonable for the layout. Comp days are Wednesdays for Ladies, Thursdays for Men and both can play on the weekend. They also have a vets event on Tuesday afternoon.

Well worth a game if you are in the area.

A great course with some great scenery, some tough holes as well as some deceiving holes.

Favourite holes would have to be the: Par 4, 2nd, a nice simple hole with water on the left and trees to the right, some great pin placements on this hole and with a good drive a great birdie chance is availabe.

Par 5, 10th, long par 5, if you get your drive on top of the hill and second to the bottom of the hill then you simply negotiate two lakes into a well placed green with a rise to the left.

Par 3, 3rd, nice 160 odd metre hole with two small lakes short and two green side bunkers, a good tee shot to short of the green or on the green leaves a very makeable par or even birdie.

The Esperance Golf Club is an absolute hidden gem.

It starts with a reachable par 5 that slightly bends right to left. There are trees and scrub right and water on the left as you approach the green.

The 4th is a great, long and tough par 4, close to 400m and the number 1 index hole. Water follows you the entire length of the hole on the left and the narrow fairway is lined with trees on the right. The approach for the brave golfer is a forced carry, but in fairness, you can play safely on the right side.

5 is a nice par 5, that bends to the left and presents you with an uphill tee shot in which you can choose how much of the corner that you wish to cut.

The 9th is another highlight. A long, inverted C shaped par 4, with a green that is surrounded by trouble. This was probably my favorite on the course.

The back nine is solid as well.

The 10th is reachable in two with a very big drive. Those choosing to lay up are faced with a narrow landing area between two ponds.

13 is a great par 4. From an elevated tee, you are faced with water all down the left side. The green is guarded by a moat in front, trees left and long and water right.

The tee shot on 14 is great as you are hitting from an island tee.

17 is a great, shot par 3, from an elevated tee.

18 is a short par 4 finisher that demands smart placement off the tee.

All things considered, this is a very fun golf course. You are faced with tons of different shots and will hit all of the clubs in your bag.

There is a lot of water, but the course is fair as there is always a safe option. Risk/reward is the name of the game on a lot of holes, which makes for a fun round.

It’s a little easier the second time around when you know just how much you can cut off of corners.

Esperance is a great country course which I am proud to be a member of, 16 holes bounded by scenic water views, or 18 if you’re wayward. Esperance golf club is a mid length course which rewards the straight but low hitter, who can keep the ball under the summer sea breeze.

The layout is situated amongst the Windabout lake system and consists of a par 72 with birdie opportunities on the short holes, and bogey certainties on the lengthy ones. Esperance golf club is complimented with well upkept fairways and medium-fast greens which are mostly inviting to attacking approaches. You will find yourself taking aggressive lines over large water carries, depending on your ability, in order to set up the upcoming shot.

Esperance golf Club is celebrating its 50th anniversary in October 2007 and is inviting golfers from all over the country to experience the challenging layout and friendly small-town atmosphere within the club.

If you don't like a course with water then this is not the course for you. Lakes cover at least 60% of this course. be preparded to lose a few balls in the rough. It is safer to play another ball from the edge of the fareway as tiger snakes tend to roam the woody areas..

This has got to be one of the hardest courses I have played. The senery is fantastic and the course is in mint condition.

Green fees are AU$20.00 whether you are playing 9 holes or 18.

When in Esperance, this is a must...
