While not a resort course the FHGCC is a great course. Have recently played there after an invite from one of the members.

It certainly exceeded my expectations as a great course and I would say one of if not the best course in the Adelaide Hills.

First hole is a long 485m par 5 straight as a die except for the right to left slope, need a fade here.

nd is a dogleg right par 4 where a long carry is required over 'moguls' off the tee if you want to avoid the left to right slope.

rd is short par 3 slightly downhill with a tricky green.

th 480m par 5 dogleg left with a bunker in play right for the long hitters and water left of the green.

th Slightly uphill par 4 dogleg right with a tree right that I carried off the tee (about 180m). Green has bunker on fringe the front and right.

th long par 4 (rated 1) slight right to left slope challenging to hold the fairway with driver and usually into the wind if it's up.

th Wow! 147m par 3 from the tips with about 130m water carry and bunkers front and left back. Shorter hitters having a free drop onto the front of the ladies if you hit left from the mens into the 'nature' strip. Ladies is about 110m with about 30m carry and bunkers left and right.

th 480m par 5 slight bend to the right from a set back tee block and a staked lateral down the right. Fairway slopes left to right and two huge gums for the eagle attempt to be negotiated. Two tiered green with sand left.

th 150m par 3 with raised green and sand short right.

th Dogleg right 470m par 5 can cut the corner but you have to carry a gum into a slight upslope. Can hit the green in two but you need to hold it as it's slick with a slope running down onto the front edge and a slope long of the green.

th Reachable 225m uphill par 4 with bunkers left and right at about 180m and on the front edge. Need to be accurate if you don't carry the green.

th 350m par 4impressive elevated tee with a tee shot of 270m needed to carry the bunkers left. Flat lay up area at about 150m -250m but you hit to a well protected green if you go at the flag with sand long and left. Collection area right front with plenty of green to play with if you don't get greedy.

th 125m par 3 elevated tee, contoured green, bunkers right, short left and long. Quite wide but not that deep.

th 195m par 3 slightly rising fairway with a very challenging green to hold and putt on.

th 370m par 4 elevated tee and a bunker short right witha steep drop to a lateral long of the green.

th 350m par 4 dogleg left that requires a carry over some pretty tall gums with a draw. You need to get over or stay away from the OOB 'Natural Vegetation reserve' on the left side. Collection area for the big hitters right of the green with bunkers left to a 2 tiered front to back slopeing green.

th Blind tee shot dogleg right 340 par 4. The tee shot has a collection area at the corner and the fairway tends to collect towards the middle down to the large but tricky to hold green. This hole has a beautiful setting as you walk down to the contoured green. It borders the dam that you have to carry on the 7th and is quite an impressive sight.

Another WOW! 550m Par 5 that slopes right to left (Lateral hazard entire left side) with a burn to carry about 160m out from the green. The green is protected short left by trees & water/ hazard and a medium tree short right. These can be carried with a wedge if you lay up to the right distance. The green also is protected with a slope up to the front edge but you can get a ball rolling back onto the green if you go long.

The greens are currently in the process of being changed over to bent and fairways are being changed to couch. The greens are getting better all the time according to the member I played with as the Club recently sold off some land at quite a profit and is now investing back into the course with obvious results.
