Oh for water! What a great course this could be if the gods gave it a drink more regularly. The greens are great, and placement on the greens is a must or you can have some very tricky putts. The second has been mentioned before, but I’m going to do it again 105m uphill to a very skinny green (i’m guessing not much more than 10 m deep), trouble front, back and both sides. Proving holes don’t have to be long to be good.

A very enjoyable course but don’t expect too many good lies.

A typical Tasmanian country town 9-hole course. The fairways and greens are prepared for the weekend comps but not much else. The course appears to be fairly young, with recent earthworks along some fariways. There is no variation on the inward nine (no second set of tees). If you judged golf courses on the appearance of their scorecard however this one would be in the countries top ten – it has a number of spectacular photos of the local area.

The course was fine for a social hit, but I wouldn’t want to play there regularly.

a great course to play at whilst up the east coast. a great mix and long holes to the highly elevated green on the par 3 2nd.

A great day out on the east coast.

This is a great little coastal course with three par 3s, three par 4s and three par 5s, the longest 505m. It has a nice balance between being challenging enough for low handicappers, yet ok for holiday hackers.

Its signature holes are the par 3 2nd -105m with the green perched on a ridge above the tee, protected by deep bunkers on either side and trouble over the back - and the par 3 8th -155m again with the green above the tee on a ridge. The 1st brings two lakes into play with a 20m neck between them and the 7th is a challenging par 4 with a tee shot through a saddle downhill to the green. The greens are outstanding and fairways reasonable. The clubhouse was lost in a fire but a new one is on the way next year. In the meantime that doesn't stop this feisty little club running tournaments including a pro-am each March. Visitors are welcome. Green fees at $10 on the honor system making this another reason to visit the stunningly beautiful Freycinet Peninsula on Tassie's East Coast.
