This course used to be 18 holes but now has 9 black soil/sand greens. The course has dry, dirt & weed-ridden kikuyu fairways with mown tee mounds with a tree-lined parkland style layout. There are no bunkers on the course.
Perhaps more small townships could follow what is done here that is having 9 ordinary holes which can be better maintained instead of having 18 terrible holes which can not be looked after.
More famous for its 30m high wheat silos, the Ganmain Bakery and the home ground of the most successful aussie rule team in the Riverina Football League (Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong FC), the golf course is not bad for a volunteer-run 9-hole course.
Ganmain & District Sports Club is located at 1 Ford Street which is at the southern edge of the town. The town and course is approximately 195m above sea level and is not too bad for a town of around 700 people and only charging visitors $5 to play a game here.
