Played here last Saturday (16/2/08) at The Earls insistance, with The Rooster and found the course to be a challenge, although there was no wind. We played $20 to play in the comp, and the views alone were worth the payment.
Whist there are some quite weak and easy holes, there are quite a few challenging holes, namely the double water carry Par 5, 5th and the downhill 11th , Par 5
The course was in good condition with all the recent rain and the greens while being two paced were also Ok.
I will be back and ready to take The Earls cash….....

Have played the course twice in Jan 2008. On both occasions chose to hit off early around 6:30 a.m. on clear, calm sunny days. Half way down the 1st fairway you realise what it so appealing about the course – the views and vistas you receive of Walkers beach, the surrounding farmland and hinterland of Gerringong are just fantastic! I was pleasantly surprised by the conditions of the fairways and even more impressed by the standard of the greens – well maintained, nice speed, and true. Some great risk reward holes where wind, water and strategically placed long, grassy rough are all considered before you make a club selection. Some tips: . Great photo opportunities on the 4th and 5th holes; take some fly repellant – the flies from the nearby farms and cow pats are fierce; consider also some breakfast after the round at the Seahaven café at Gerroa for some great coffee, bacon, eggs and/or pancakes!

Played this course last weekend and i surprised how challenging this links course was after seeing it from the roadside. It looks rather ratty and with a shack for the clubhouse, you could be excused for thinking it was a goat track.
This course has a huge variety of holes, with holes that will change everyday due to the beachside location and wind factor. The greens were all brown and very firm apart from the 17th. They look like they are in disgusting condition, however they have a true roll and are very quick and if they were in better nick, it would be an alot better/popular course.
The links style rough and use of strategically placed lakes/ponds, make this a very tough course. In fact they only had 4 <10 markers with the lowest handicapper at 7. One to check out.

Well what can I say? The course overall is on par with any other course in the region. It has many interesting holes, which are one of a kind. These qualities are brought down by the poor conditions of the course. The greens are improving fast, but are still extremely poor and slow. Overall, quite a nice course to play, brought down by the poor quality of the course.

Gerringong is a pleasant change from the Sydney clubs. Enjoy it for what it is -- an unpretentious country course with sensational views and a welcoming attitude. Maybe the greens aren't the best, but the course is maintained primarily by the members themselves, so give it a break. Go there, enjoy the magnificent views from every hole, and be challenged. This course is no pushover. And it's the best $20 you'll ever spend on a green fee.

I walked onto Gerringong golf course to play June Monthly Medal and saw the 9th green and decided to go home. Very beautiful course views n scenic wise otherwise this golf course is very poor. A little more effort on the greens and maybe some more people might play there.

This course has improved so much in the past year, with the addition of many fantastic features to the course! Gerringong Golf Course is in great condition and the greens are fairly fast. Spectacular views of Walkers beach seperate this course from any other course in the region. As this is a fairly hilly and scenic course, take a cart to assist your round. You must try it for yourself today!

A beautiful course to look at sprawled across open countryside and overlooking walkers beach. Hiring an electric cart is almost a must due to the huge variation in landscape and if so can make for a tough yet rewarding round of golf. Recent improvements over the past 5 years has turned this course into a real gem!

Gerringong Golf Club is a hilly course located in an idyllic location overlooking Walkers Beach. The greens are medium paced and the fairways are smooth. This is a links style course with an interesting layout, featuring piles of long grass, 7 bunkers and a 5 water hazards. The course is best played in calm weather. The starter shed has plenty of tasty refreshments after a tough round of golf.

I had the pleasure of playing at Gerringong Golf Club this morning in the Monthly Medal as a visitor from Shell Cove. I hit off at 6.30am and was rewarded with the best weather ditions, little to no wind at all and the view of Walker’s Beach was fantastic and worth the trip on its own. I took the advice of some previous reviewers on iSeek and I agree, early morning is the best time to play it.
Measuring 5579 metres from the plates, at a par of 72 with an ACR of 68, this course in theory seems like an easy track but is by no means a push over. I hit the ball well but struggled on the scorecard(mainly due to lack of local knowledge). However I will definitely be back to have another go now that I know where the greens all slope to and what shots to play in certain greens (or what not to play).
Most of the hardest par 4’s are reachable in two with a short iron and the 6th and 11th holes (both par 5’s) would be easily reached in two after good drives. From chatting to the club captain and a few local members after my round, apparently in the wind its when this course bears its true teeth, especially in the winter time when the westerlies hang around. The par 3, 8th measures about 102 metres from the plates and with no wind I took a 3/4 PW today. However some players have hit from this tee into roaring westerlies before and not reached the green with long irons. Thats some statement but a true one :)
The fairways I found were brilliant, despite the odd soft, muddy patch on some holes but were a huge improvement from 12 years ago when I last played here. The greens were much better too, quite grainy but still a little inconsistent from one to another. I think this is because about 4 greens are being done up with bent grass surfaces and these will take a few months to mature and hit their straps.
For degree of difficulty, gerringong is definitely easier than Shell Cove and Port Kembla. I’d say its about as tough as Kiama but likes the driver a bit more. It is slightly longer than Kiama though, more open and with less par 3’s.
All in all, a very enjoyable golfing experience and a good saturday/sunday comp option for visitors looking to play away from their own clubs. Appreciating the view is easy at $20 to play in the comp!
