Arranged a game with the Vets who play ten holes so I arrived early to play the other eight. The course looks good and plays better. Fairways in great nick and greens are among the best I’ve played in the country. No great difficulties but a very long par three and a couple of long par fours. Trees with big overhangs tighten up a few of the holes.
Partner Ken and I managed runners up so a big thanks to him and Kerry & Tom for a great day with great company. The friendliness once again a feature of the club. Reasonable fees and drink prices topped off a top day out. Recommend.

Course has a variety of holes that keeps interest. Some long par 4,s. Par 5’s are very good (doglegged). Enjoyed my round, played on Saturday Medal Day and after a couple three puts early on I was able to score some 1 putts to make up for them and learn to read the greens for speed and break. Friendly clubhouse atmosphere.

This course is a good country course, but is just a bit long and the lush kikuyu fairways means it plays even longer. The fairways were in good condition and the greens were firm and quite quick.
There are lots of doglegs and some water hazards, so it is worth playing twice to know the places to avoid. There is only one bunker on the course, a greenside bunker on the par 3 18th, but a lot of tee shots require precision with overhanging trees. The 14th is over 400m long, but has overhanging trees on the tee that forces you to aim at a massive tree on the right of the fairway, meaning that unless you hit a big high draw (Right Handed) you have no shot.
The par 3s (5 in all) are generally longish, especially for women, my wife (a single figure golfer) needed to hit driver on three of the par 3s and then was sometimes short. For the men the 2nd is 204 metres and the only par 3 that is less than 160 metres is the 15th.
For the men the back nine has 4 par 4’s, one of 355 metres and the other three more than 400 metres long (one at 428 metres is a monster). There is also a 400 metre plus hole on the front 9, so if you don’t hit it a long way you will struggle. For the ladies, there are 4 par 4s of 350 metres or longer.
When we played on a Wednesday morning we had the course to ourselves and the green fees of $25 are good value. Overall a difficult course to rate because the condition is excellent, but the length can make it hard to play.
