Grong Grong is a small farming village of around 550 people located at a sharp 90 degree turn on the Newell Highway. The only sharp dogleg you’ll come across in town as all the holes here except the 5th and 9th are straight, open with minimal tree-lined fairways.
This 9-holer has coarser sands which are both black and white soil/sand scrapes than Ganmain’s 9-holer course. There are also large areas of red dirt patches on the fairways which are ridden with short weeds.
If given the choice probably Ganmain’s 9-holer course is in better shape, but why bother with scrapes when you can play Narrandera’s 18-hole full bent grass green course which is 20km west along the Newell Highway.
The town and course is located approximately 160 metres above sea level around 25km west of Ganmain on the Canola Way. The course is on the southern side of the railway line about 100m east of the Royal Hotel.
