Still measures 2380m Par 33 with four par 3s ranging from 116-172m, four par 4s ranging from 222-417m and the short 440m Par 5 slightly uphill 9th.

Course has lush kikuyu grass fairways and rough with some tall tree-lined fairways near the river. The small-to-medium sized bent greens are fairly slow and the teebeds have mostly kikuyu grass with some couch grass. Generally there are wide fairways with shortish tree-lined fairways.

All par 3s are bunkered which is good to see and the course has 7 bunkers in total with some water hazards coming into general play on the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th and 8th holes.

1st-417m – a long par 4 with an elevated tee and a slight dogleg left around the red stake hazards along the leftside with another pond 20m short left of the small bunkerless green.

2nd-116m – an elevated tee some 15m above the green guarded by a bunker short right and water 20m short. Club selection crucial as the green is small.

3rd-172m – a flat par 3 with 3 bunkers guarding the front of the medium-sized green.

4th-158m – another elevated tee to a narrow but wide green with a bunker over the back and water 30m short of the green. Probably the most challenging par 3 here.

5th-222m – straight and narrow short par 4 with a right-sloping fairway and OOB on the left and red stakes and ponds along the entire rightside to the elevated narrow but wide bunkerless green guarded by tall trees short left and red stakes short right. Use an iron off the tee as this is most strategic hole on the course.

6th-307m –wide and straight fairway with a bunker short left of the medium-sized green.

7th-134m – flat par 3 with a bunker rightside of the medium-sized green.

8th-414m – another long par 4 that plays downhill with a wide fairway which bends slightly to the right. Straight hole with a pond 80m short left of the medium sized bunkerless green with red stakes right of the greenside mounds.

9th-440m – short uphill par 5 with a wide fairway with also a slight bend to the right with tall trees short right of the bunkerless green.

Played here 11/03/2012 with $16 green fees for 9 holes. Not bad for beginners and the less frequent golfers which reflect the 4-5 star reviews here, but not challenging for the lower markers.

Course access is from Nutmans Road about 9km (or 10 minutes) from the Richmond CBD via Grose Vale Road and Grose River Road.

Overall, not too bad and similar to Rum Corps Barracks. Given that Kurrajong Hills Golf Course is closed, come down for a round. Otherwise Richmond, Windsor or Lynwood are the full-length 18-hole golf courses nearby Grose River.

This 9 hole course is a must play course hidden in back drop of the blue mountains. The course is well maintained by the greens staff and is designed for the beginner through to the competative player. Its has two long par 4s,two average length par 4s,4 par 3s and a challenging Par 5. As you walk this course you will hear the bell birds, spot the odd Kookaburra and enjoy the quite bush surrounding. The staff are happy and always helpful.

Get yourselve out to this course you will not be disappointed

One of our favourite courses. Excellent staff, beginner-friendly crowd. Pretty good value for money. Will keep coming back here over and over again.

The elevation changes make this course just that bit more challenging for the average golfer. The 2nd, 4th, 5th (as others have said, a great short par 4), 6th, 8th and 9th have some form of elevation change that force you to carefully consider hole management. Not a great deal of foliage on the course means that some errant tee shots on the 1st and final 3 holes can still give you a somewhat clear shot to the pin. The times I’ve played there midweek have seen very few players out on course, so a quick round can be had.

Great value for money if you have a Golf Course guide too…$7 for 18 is a steal.

Good course, have not played it in 12 months, but i think the overall 3.5 stars is a little generous considering some of the other courses on the directory that have 3.5. Still for 9 holes it’s a fair challenge with some nice holes. Worth a game.

This course always had a very interesting layout but in its early days was let down by substandard greens.

Recent improvements have raised the greens to a good standard and the recent re-rating of two of the par 5’s to 4’s has lifted the course rating to within one of par.

The 225 metre par 4 5th hole remains one of the best short par 4’s I have played – disaster is never far away and even the safe route can take some managing.

Grose River for those that don’t know have saturday competition and have golf link attached to the course membership. Also a new innotiative by Mr and Mrs Nutman and the club professional Darrin Walden is they have placed a pennant team in the pennants championship for 2008. They are also having 4 rounds of the Holden Scramble again this year( Last years winners were runners up and narrowly missed out by one shot by taking the regional final out at Riverside Oaks and getting a place in the national final). The course has the best greens around and have been brought up to the top metropolitan standard. All in all a great course and is definetly NSW’s best kept secret.

If you haven’t been out to this course in the last 12-18 months then do yourself a favor and take the drive. I promise you will not be sorry. The old cooch greens have gone (thankfully I hear you say) and the new greens are sensational. A lot of work has gone into the course recently and many areas have been replanted (yes the number of lanatana patches is on the march downwards). For those that have played there before you will be either sorry or glad to hear that the tree in the middle of the 1st has gone (personally sorry to see that old nemesis go but it has improved the hole). The bank up to the 4th green as changed from the boulder ridden mountain goat country of old to a two tiered turfed slope. Overall this is turning into one of the best little 9 holers around. The driver still gets to come out on 4 holes, you can even brave it on the 4th now but a wood or iron shot is still the best bet. Sure there are 4 par 3’s but given the space available to them the owners have done a great job and things keep getting better. The best thing though is the fact that this course is still a well kept secret in terms of player numbers. Mid week you can more than expect to get a round in wait free. Weekends are a little busier but turn up after mid day and I’ll be surprised if you are waiting much, if at all as you go round. I played 18 this morning and although there were 6 or 7 groups out there, we didn’t wait once. I’m not even going to mention the fees as you wouldn’t believe me if I told you how cheap a round of 18 is.

A good course for a family day out. The fourth hole is a 210m shot to a very elevated green - well worth the eagle attempt with a clean five wood on this short par 4. A generally easy course for mid to low jhandicappers to go around in even par although the greens are very rough and bumpy. You can really rip off some big drives and set yourself up for genuine eagle and birdie chances even if you are off target.

With Sydney's golf courses becoming increasingly congested, weekend hackers would be well served to take the drive out to Grose River. Unlike many other 9 hole courses even the longer hitter can pull the driver out on at least 4 of the 9 holes. Fairways are wide and lush considering the drought and while the greens are a fair bit slower than what many may be used to, they are more than adequate for a weeekend hit and giggle. BBQ facilities and an elevated picnic area with views over the course make this a nice destination for golfers who perhaps want to introduce their long suffering family members to the game they really play in heaven.
