Played there in January 2012. The course uses the land well, with no flat or boring, nor repetetive style holes. Each approach requires precision to hit the targets, and there is an advantage being in the right position off the tee.

The small greens are in great condition, and the fairways and rough no longer need to be ’preferred lies’ as is offered to members.

For $20, its a great track. Recommended if you are in the area.

Measures 5657m Par 71 with five par 3s ranging from 141-204m, nine par 4s ranging from 268-410m and four par 5s ranging from 451-484m.

Course is not too hilly with a short-to-medium sized tree lined layout with smooth, but slowish bent grass greens with a few dead couch patches on the greens, tee mounds are kikuyu grass and the fairways are a mix of kikuyu/couch grass with the couch grass surprisingly not dormant in most places in May. The small, mostly flat greens make it slightly challenging, but if you miss the green in regulation with minimal bunkering and wide fairways frequent golfers can save par.

All greens are bunkerless except the 1st, 9th, 10th, 11th and 18th. There are 9 bunkers on the entire course. NOTE: One should note that the white post markers are 130m to the centre of the green!

Highlights here include: the 410m par 4 3rd (index 1) which has OOB fence (far) left of the short trees with a wide fairway to aim for off the tee with a fairway that doglegs slightly to the left to a 2-tiered rear-to-front sloping bunkerless green, the 204m par 3 8th (index 3) with a teeshot over a small gully with a wide fairway to a bunkerless green, 484m 9th (index 9) is a straight hole with an uphill 2nd/3rd shot to a green guarded by 2 bunkers short left and rightside and the 141m 10th (index 16) plays downhill to a rear-to-front sloping green guarded by 2 bunkers short left and right.

All par 3s here except the 8th have downhill teeshots to the green which feels a little ordinary and boring. The par 4s here mostly doglegs slightly to the left and are generally unchallenging, whilst the par 5s are more varied with gently sloping fairways and slight doglegs.

Played here 24/05/2011 and paid $20 visitor green fees. Located 430m above sea level the twin townships of Harden-Murrumburrah have around 3000 people.

The town is actually located on the south-west slopes of NSW about 65km NW of Yass and 35km SE of Young. Overall, a decent country layout and a friendly club.

The Harden Country Club is a nice country course and when there is rain about and the grass is green the course is a real gem.

I admit to being biased as i grew up in Harden but after living in Sydeny there is nothing better then heading home for a round of golf on the local track.(in better condition than some of sydney’s suburban courses).

There are some challenging holes with undulating terain and some fairway obstacles.

The greens are always in good shape and are quite readable.

To add to this the course is in the small country town of Harden-Murrumburrah where the people are great and the surounds are even better.

This course is just something special. It is at it's optimum from July to October due to watering constraints, however the layout is challenging, but not too tough a walk.

Some very testing holes, some freeway holes and some postcard holes. What more could you want.

Maybe I am biased (I am golf president at Harden) but I do believe it to be one crackerjack course.

Come, enjoy and get away from the rushed overbooked courses elsewhere. Have a drink with the members and enjoy our hospitality afterwards also.

You will love it.

Over the Easter period of 2003 my partner & I were wandering around NSW playing Golf at some of the smaller Golf Courses, A family member who works near by mentioned the Hardan country Club as having a golf course so we just had to go and have a look with the idea of playing a game. We were quite surprised to see how green it was when everywhere seemed to be in drought conditions, a small town about 1200 population with a 18 hole golf course with grass greens, mind you it is not a course of the Murray standards but with open fairways and small greens it was still a tester, we both played in a two day event called the Shark Shootout being a draw partners 4BBB on 1st day and a 2 person Ambrose on the 2nd day, we hope to go back again next year.
