It always amazes me that Hartfield never gets a mention when discussion turns to Perth golf. No doubt, there are a couple of absolute rippers (Joondalup, Lake Karrinyup, The Cut) but Hartfield is at least as good and i think better then some often mentioned private brethren (Royal Perth, WA, Royal Freo, Cottesloe).

There are still some weak holes in this course and it can certainly be improved but there are also a couple of excellent holes (1,12,17,10). Well worth a game.

Played 9 holes at Hartfield 12 months ago and found the course to be extremely unforgiving if you missed the fairway. In saying that the greens were a good pace and roll, but are apparently better in the members competition on a Saturday. The bunkering was good and the fairways well maintained. Some long par 4’s make this course a good challenge, for beginner and advanced golfers alike. Worth a look.

PROS

  • Good layout, reasonably priced, open competition available on sundays

Cons

  • Very unforgiving if you miss fairways, best course conditions are often saved for the members competition days

I have just become a member at Hartfield and have found the course a great challenge.

It is decent length at just under 6200m finding the fairway is a must on most par 4’s as many good tee shots still leave 150m plus approach shots. This is a course that will punish you for not being stright off the tee with it’s narrow fairways

The greens on the front nine aren’t as challenging as the back but all greens are well kept. To say Hartfield has fast and true greens is an understatement.

A nice club and one I am proud to be a member of.

Played Hartfield for the first time on 5/02/08 what a great course. The course has a fantastic array of holes from short knock down par 3’s to 490m par 5’s.Some of the holes read relatively short on the card but the well protected greens and tight fairways mean no hole is a ‘gimme’.The course condition was very good a number of fairways are being renovated but are still playable and will only get better with time. The greens were firm but very predictable, all in all a great course that is kept under wraps pretty well and for 25 dollars monday and tuesday well worth a visit

Well what can we say about hartfield...it really is a hidden gem that is a REAL challenge to any level of golfer with some magnificent holes and very challenging layout with absolutely unforgiving rough...any further than 6-7 metres in find it and drop on the fairway. Fairways bunkers and an array of massive greenside bunkers that challenge and frighten to submission almost think the par 3 12th if you have played.

With fantastic green fees $22 for 18 holes on the public day Monday and tuesday it is a course u must try it truly is fantastic

This is a true gem of a course. It is a medium length course that makes good shot selection off the tee essential. The course is constantly improving with the greens really coming of age. The new 12th hole is a short par 3 surrounded by bunkers and if you walk away with a par feel pretty pleased with yourself.

The members at the course are always friendly and are happy to give you some helpful tips.

Also a bonus is the well stocked Pro Shop that carries all the major brands at very competitive prices.

A medium length course played in a hotter in summer colder in winter place in wa up in the hills, a challenging course with lots of doglegs and the course usually in exceptional knick.
