The course is pretty good. Just the proshop rudeness put us off and this is the second time this has happened.

Having played Hawks Nest this past month – I think 2 stars (last review) is a tad light on. Sure, the tree lined mostly straight fairways with minimal bunkering and no water hazards may “for some” be a tad uninspiring on the tee box, but by the time you account for perfect greens (and this is in August!), a beautiful native bushland setting with no houses overlooking & holes like the 185m par 3 5th – a cracker of test into a prevailing southerly with OB down the entire left side then the dog left par 5 6th straight after – I think 3 to 3.5 stars for the experience is more realistic.

Not a long course by any means even from the blue tips, but if you have played and enjoyed courses like Nelson Bay & Tuncurry, then you’ll love the $30, 4 hour stroll around this lay out in a very peaceful part of the world.

Having read the reviews and heard some positive comment, I think i was expecting a little more from this course. Certainly in good condition, particularly the greens. But the course itself was a little plain jane, and looking back at the course 2 days later, i can hardly recall a hole which i thought was memorable.

Hawks Nest is an absolute gem of a course. It is well worth a visit if you are in the area. It is always in spectacular condition and the greens are in top nick at the moment, running very true and fast! It is always a great test of golf, the wind can blow a gale, the rain can belt down and the sun can burn you in a second – and that can all be in one day or one hole! I know I’ll be coming back as often as I can.

Played in the comp yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it despite the at times monsoonal rain!

Despite the rain, the course remained in above average condition.

It plays almost like two courses. The front nine being well set out and fun to play.

The back nine was tighter and longer! 11,12,13 & 14 are long par 4, par 5, par 5 and longish par 4! Good off the tee is very important.

There is plenty of rouygh on the course but not much of it is terminal.

As I said earlier, the course was in great condition and the staff and locals friendly.

I would highly recommend this course to anyone travelling in the area.

This course is a quality course. With cheap green fees and the worlds best hire clubs hawks nest will present a challenge to any golfer, except for a few. With lots and lots of land and 3 back nines, the course will always break sweat. I like the course and will continue to play there every year that I go up for the summer, evryday of the summer at only nine bucks a pop!

I have been playing hawks nest for many years now, it is were I first learnt to play and it keeps getiing better everyear.

Hawks Nest golf course is a par 72, the course is set in heavy bushland just off bennett beach. The course is kept in great nick all year round. The staff are always friendly.

The golf course is a challenge on any day. Consisting of long par 4s and 5s.

The first hole seems to be easy but well it's the shortest par 4 at 370m. The next hole is a narrow par 5 that can be a trouble. There are a number of holes were hills will come into play. The backnine is very long and daunting. The bushland will always claim balls too many.

Hawks nest golf course is a very underated. The greenfeas are very good. The course kept in great nick.

This course is deffinetly a challenge. Requires many good drivers on numerous par 4s and 5s to be any chance of par.
