This time we came back and played the front 9. We had the first tee time for the day at 6 am so the fairways and greens still had rather hevey dew and with the somehwhat sandy greens, the sand stuck to the ball and putter.
But I was impressed with the front 9. The first hole is as it is described on the website,’a good opening hole’. Hookers (of the golf ball) should be careful on the 3rd as water runs down 2/3 down the hole. But dont be to complacant as trees and rough do line the right hand side.
Number 5 is the 1st par 3. Attacking players should 2nd guess a front pin location with 2 bunkers at the front of the green. Hole 6 is a dogleg par 4 with a narrow fairway. Watch out for the Kangaroos down near the right hand side as that is a popular spot for them.
The 8th, Par 3. Pin slightly above you. The green undlulates. By the time we were at the 8th, the greens were picking up some speed. And yes, the 9th. Par 4, up hill then back down. Watch out for the swooping magpies! Beware of the 3 front bunkers that are bound to eat up any shoprt shots. If your going to hit it short, hit it to the side.
PROS
- Good variaty
- Challenging
Cons
- Really dewie early in the morning...common for the area

Played the course in winter (is that what they call it on the Sunshine Coast?). Found the course great! Beautiful scenery, wild-life aplenty, and the course was a delight! There was a temporary green on the 2nd (unfortunate, but obviously necessary). The greens were very true but very, very quick which I normally like but had some trouble with the undulations. The overall condition was very good and I would recommend everyone play this course. I can’t wait until I can play there again.

Headland Park. To describe it in one word…I have several. Challenging, Undulating and Classy.
When we got there, the friendly guy in the pro shop was there. Now, we are just the average hacker of golfers. I understand the edequete of golfing. I had a decent T Shirt on but with no collar, same as my firend so he goes to the back looking for shirts with collars. It took him 10 minitues.
Now we had decent shirts on so I dont understand why we were given lower quality shirts with collars on them.
Back to the course.
We only played the back 9 as we had other things to do. To start on the 10th tee, there was a mob of Kangaroo’s next to the fairway. It was an awsome sight to see. Especially when we teed of early (7AM). It set the mood for the round.
So as the avergae hacker, I had good shots and bad ones as well but this course is exelent no matter what your skill level is.
Exept for a few water traps, you can’t go that bad that you lose balls. On an averge round, I lose at least 5 balls. Today, I did not lose any which is a 1st!!
It’s a good place to play your woods and your driver BUT ONLY OFF THE TEE!!
The last hole is a gem. If you have ever played at Tanawah par 3, you will find your self in a case of dejya vu. The 18th is like the 4th hole there. Short hole and if you fall short, you go a long way down the hill.
So I give it 4 out of 5. Would have givin it 5 if the guy had let us where our shirts!!

I played this course in late August while on a weeks golfing holiday.
We played the course on the day after the Club champs and the greens were as slick as, especially for a couple of Kiwis coming off our winter conditions. An interesting course it was a good start to the week and there are some interesting holes, but you can't get into too much trouble apart from the odd bit of water.
This is a good course without being great but is good value and worth a look.

This is a fun course. Challenging without being impossible. Lots of elevation changes which adds another dimension. Definitely worth playing! 3 and a half stars.

Certainly not the best course on the Sunshine Coast, but without doubt the best value by some margin. Almost always presented in good condition and recent bunker upgrades have made the course more enjoyable and challanging. Headland has some of the most fun holes around, you'll want to walk back down and play the 18th over and over.

The Headland Golf Club is without doubt the best golf course on the Sunshine Coast, especially in the value for money stakes. For only $30 for 18 holes, you get long undulating fairways, slick perfect greens, an interesting variety of holes and the best view on the Sunshine Coast. Why pay $80 at Twin Waters when you can pay $30 at Headland and play a better golf course.

The course is nice and easy to walk. Great tree coverage on the sides of the fairways that give a good cover of shade. Not too hard, everyone can have a go!

Fast greens, undulating fairways, the hills making for a big challenge and the kangaroos resting in the sunshine. One of the best for any type of player!

Love it! Plenty of variety. The 18th certainly makes sure you’re on your game until you take your shoes off at the end.
The holes bordering the tip & the houses on the back 9 owe me several golf balls but I have now managed to tame them…more so tame my slice which has made the coarse far more enjoyable.
The kangaroo’s make the coarse very pleasing, plus the views over Mooloolaba and the ocean.
Look forward to playing again this weekend
