Hillston has 18 black soil greens, with patchy weeds and dirt red fairways devoid of grass with no bunkers. Mostly for the locals and for the cooler months as the course becomes hard and unplayable during summer.
The course has a short-medium tree-lined layout with the Lachlan River bending around its eastern edge and generally out of play! Most holes play straight.
Hillston is a small town of 1100 people on the banks of the Lachlan River. To access the course you drive 1.5km north of the centre of town, past the man-made Lake Woorabinda along the Mossgeil Road/Lachlan River Road, then turn into Roto Road, cross over the Lachlan River Bridge and turn left into the dirt driveway.
Hillston is on the edge of the outback about 110km northwest of Griffith along the Kidman Way.
